Notes:
This is a beer lover’s beer. Anarchist Amber Ale is a full bodied hand-crafted ale that is a generous combination of carefully roasted malted barley balanced with three Northwest hop varieties. Patient and watchful conditioning results in a harmony of hop and malt.

A - hazy dark coppper, tall head left plentiful stings of lacing all around
S - strong hints of simple syrup, nutty, and slightly metallic
T - dominated by sugary syrup sweetness, some nutty malt and light leafiness
M - medium to full body, somewhat creamy, finishes with a teeth coating sugary feel
O - its just one of those beer that feels a little contrived, the sweetness is present where the malt should be, its still tasty, but its a very average amber, uncharacteristic of the typically worthy brews from Cannery

Hazy dark amber ale with a thick collapsing light moka head. Caramel malt in aroma with very light floral hops. Sweet malt taste, a bit too sweet and cloying, like unfermented wort, with strong diacetyl, and a lingering unpleasant faint hop juice. Medium bodied. Rather unbalanced and lacking something.

The CANQuest (TM) CANtinues, thanks to my steady trader, BigBry! Forget Lil Wayne and his "Steady Mobbin" stuff, I'm steady CANnin', yo! This represents some of The CANQuest's (TM) favorite things - CANadian CANned beer from CANnery Brewing Co.! CAN you tell that I'm stoked at the outset of New Beer Sunday (Week 365)?
From the CAN: "This full bodied hand-crafted ale is balanced with a generous combination of carefully roasted malts and three Northwest hop varieties. It is a harmony of hop and malt that results in a lingering finish ... ... disturbingly delicious."; "Keep Cool!"; "Naturally Brewed in Small Batches"; "Small Brewery Big Flavour".
First off, whoever submitted the accompanying pic missed the mark! The interlocking "CB" atop several stalks of barley is but one side of the CAN, whilst on the other side is a bright red Anarchy "A", which should have been displayed, instead. Viva la revolucion, brothers & sisters! Man, I'm gonna down this brew and go pay a visit to some government officials, post haste! Thanks for sending me THIS beer, BB. ;=)
The Crack & Glug (curiously) did NOT blow up on me so I kept calm and carried on. I had better than a finger of tawny head with moderate retention when I was done. Color was a deep amber with NE-quality clarity. BUPGOO! Nose evinced a piney hoppiness and my mouth began to water, given my recent re-immersion in my hops addiction. Mouthfeel was a little thin for my taste and the flavor was an underwhelming blend of pine hops and caramel malt. It just tasted like someone had hit the "Mute" button on it. Not bad, but not great either and disappointing, given its name. Finish left me scouring the reefer for something with some hops. The monkey on my back is beginning to screech and he wants fed. It's going to be a memorable Sunday, O my droogs. I am now inspired to pull out my copy of Joseph Conrad's "The Secret Agent" for a quick perusal.

355ml can poured into a 16oz pint glass.
A - Just under a finger of fizzy, light-tan head. Hazy copper-orange color, with a bit of lacing.
S - Fresh, grapefruit hops and some delicious smelling caramel malt with toffee.
T - Well hopped, not too much and not too little. Caramel malt adds a nice contrast to the slight hop bitterness. Slight taste of grains and piney hops in the aftertaste. Well balanced and very drinkable.
M - Lower carbonation, with a medium bodied mouthfeel.
D - Well balanced ale. All around pretty enjoyable, and no complaints here.

Cloudy amber brow apperance with thick bubbly head that slowly settles down leaving good retention. Smell is sweet with a strong hint of caramel along with a hint of malt and bread.
Taste is like the smell, mainly caramel and bread Picked up malt, hops and brown sugar. Taste seems a little watered down, but refreshing nonetheless. Light bodied with high carbonation. Aftertaste is dry with a taste of brown sugar.
This is a refreshing and balanced beer, but lacks a kick to it. Worth a try though even if it's for the novelty of drinking anarchy beer.

Poured from a can into my Stella glass.
A - Golden brown, almost hazy in nature. Poured a 1/4 inch head, however it quickly dissipated leaving only a little lacing.
S - Sweet caramel with a citrus hop finish.
T - Very metallic citrus hop taste. The hops are definitely more prevalent on this one, leaving you with a bit of a fruity aftertaste.
M - Suprisingly thick feeling on the palette. The carbonation is definitely on the weak side for such an ale, and it is almost reminiscent of a porter mouthfeel.
D - Much too metallic. The blend of hops and malts produce a nice balance, but the metallic taste ruins it for me. By no means a terrible beer, but definitely not my favourite amber ale.

650ml bottle poured into pint glass jan12 2010
A clear golden copper with no visible carbonation that somehow produces a big fluffy head that has good retention and leaves a few rings of lace
S a little biscuit and caramel almost smells like an English IPA
T not far from the smell only with some mild hops and it almost tastes like iced tea
M carbonation comes from nowhere giving it a slightly creamy feel
D no major problems with this one easy enough to drink
I wont lie the label on this one sold me, it's not much better then average but nothing to be ashamed of

A- The logo is pretty cool, showing some aggressive marketing. When I opened the can, the foam just exploded out....I had to let it settle before pouring....and no the can wasn't shaken or dropped....maybe over carbonated? When I poured it, the beer cascaded! When it settled again, there was a several inch thick foamy head that took several minutes to fade into a fluffy off white cloud over the beer. It is a somewhat hazy amber/gold color with very sticky thick lacing. Can't tell how heavy the carbonation is due to the haze....
S- The aroma is quite sweet, very much toffee like. Along with the sweet malts, there is some light & fresh citrus fruit notes. Not much else...no real hop bitterness.
T- Tastes very much the same as it smells....full of toffee and I think I even taste a bit of maple sap! There is some bitterness on the end, from the hops that I guess are in fact used. There is a bit of a earthy/grassy flavor mixed in as well.
M- Surprisingly light for an amber ale! The carbonation is relatively low and the bubbles are fine, providing quite a smooth drinking beer.
D- It's sweet, slightly bitter on the palate and easy drinking....it is flavorful. I don't have a problem drinking this and will probably have it again in the future. I just don't feel that this beer is spectacular but it is better than a lot the beers out there!

I remember drinking this in the Okanagan a number of years ago, where you could get bombers for $3.25. Sigh. Oh, and you kids, get off of my lawn!
The Satan-worshipping-esque stylized 'A' on the label still looks pretty good, as it beats the hell out of the generic Okanagan travelogue label pictured above, which I've never seen before for this particular Cannery offering.
This beer pours a slightly hazy medium orangish-copper hue, with copious amounts of thick puffy off-white head, that recedes fairly quickly, leaving solid lacing around the glass. It smells of English biscuit malt, and grassy hops, with a bit of citrus in there too. The taste starts with earthy, grassy hops, and blends nicely into the solid caramel/biscuit malt backbone. The carbonation is a little high, the body a bit north of medium, and it finishes smooth, with a light earthy hoppiness lingering. There is a mild, pleasant warming overall, betraying the ever so slightly elevated ABV. This is a decently refreshing amber ale, nicely balanced.

Well, their IPA wasn't all that...let's see how Anarchist Amber fares...
First, my can is designed much differently than the bottle shown, and is more appropriate than the hilariously idiosyncratic bottle label vs. name of beer. (Or perhaps anarchy will indeed lead to peaceful countrysides and blue skies for everyone? Where do I sign up?) This can bears a simple red anarchy "A" on black.
A huge fluffy beige head and a well-filtered sunset color give this the look of an IPA or something. It surely looks promising, especially with all that sticky lace clinging to the sides of the glass.
Very faint fruit and toffee in the nose, with an earth/mineral edge.
Flavors are hardly existent and then disappear. What's there isn't even that impressive. Faint caramel, weak brown sugar, stale wheat bred, lackluster hops, and a wimpy, watery mouthfeel that just barely pulls through. Light fruit tartness in the finish.
Like crummy corporate beer, I used to think anarchy was cool when I was 16. Neither are all that appealing to me now, and this beer isn't either. It's ironic that Anarchist Amber Ale looks good on the surface, which I could still say about anarchy, but when you dig in and get right into the nuts and bolts it's rather full of holes. But it's a cool can for the collectors out there!

Appearance: Rather vicious pour nets a finger of loose, foamy, off-white head. Doesn't seem to be retaining very well, though it is dragging some web-like lace behind it. Body is a clear, pale, orange-amber with extremely light carbonation. After a minute or so, head looks like a soapy crown - not bad.
Smell: Caramel malt, some citrus, bready yeast, and pine. Nothing special.
Taste: Whoa... not a good whoa... lots and lots of bitter malted barley. There's a bit of caramel in there, some piney hops, and a good deal of salt. This tastes... bad.
Mouthfeel: Pretty full for an amber. Big malty backbone provides a bit of creaminess and something to chew on. Carbonation can sting a bit early on, but calms down soon after. Finishes somewhat dry.
Drinkability: This is a pretty bad amber, but I have had worse. Not a great flavor, though it does mellow out after a while. In fact, more of the flavors (notably biscuit) come out as it flattens. Maybe that's just the alcohol talking...

Grabbed this as part of the week long "Canadian Beer Tasting" I've been doing while up for a visit.
A: Certainly amber... a deep and rich amber, with a slightly orangish-amber head topping it. Some decent lace stickiness and a reasonable retention.
S + T: Rather light... sweet malts, and not a great deal more. Taste is similar... rather nondescript. A strange bitterness. The balance seems off in a somewhat unpleasant way. A band-aid, tangy bitterness finish.
M + D: Medium body, a little foaminess as a result of the carbonation. The cover over the palate is a little unfortunate with the finish. Not a brew I could see myself getting again, unfortunately. Not so horrible as to be a drain pour, but not exactly nice.
