At only 92 calories, this award-winning beer retains the taste and character of full-bodied lagers but with a New Orleans touch, making it a truly unique light amber beer.

A - Pale amber with a soap head and not much lace.

S - Funky lagery aroma of sudsy corn and carmel. Caramel corn? Not too assertive or complex. Not offensive or anything, but not good.

T - Same as the taste, not really good at all. Cheap and soapy tasting. Flimsy hops and weak malts.

M - Weak and funky. Flimsy carbonation and a sour aftertaste.

D - Shitty beer really.

Decanted from a 12 oz (355 ml) bottle into a Weissbier glass; no production information.
A: Pours a clear, amber color with a one half inch, white head with low retention and very limited soapy lacing.
S: Sharp initially with dough, bread, apple, caramel, and cocoa aromas.
T: Slightly tart but semisweet with flavors mirroring nose. Light to moderate bitterness. Lingering savory aftertaste.
M: Light to medium bodied with low volume but persistent effervescence.
O: While I am impressed by the flavorfulness of Dixie Jazz, the flavor mix does not really work and I am not sure what the brewer was trying to accomplish. A little too tart to be truly light and little too heavy to be at all refreshing. Had high hopes ... dashed.

Sampled last night on 12/10/15. Comes in a 12 ounce bottle "Brewed for the Dixie Brewing Company Inc, in New Orleans, Louisiana". Maybe made in Wisconsin? Bottle chilled down to 36 degrees F in my beer cooler and poured in to a vintage "Schlitz" tulip glass.

Brew pours a clear deep golden-yellow in color with a thin white head. Some spotty lacing was seen when sipped. The aroma is of yeast with a light hint of sweet corn for the most part. Guess the taste follows the nose with not much else. Finished with some bitterness. Medium-bodied with good carbonation. Overall, not a big fan of this one.

Bottle marked 15 114 20 at 40 degrees into a snifter
Aroma – grainy
Head small (Two cm, aggressive pour), white, frothy, diminishing to irregular two to four mm ring and layer
Lacing fair – partial rings of tiny bubbles
Body medium yellow, hazy
Flavor heavy with disulfide, organic solvents, quite nasty; no hops, no malt, no alcohol, no diacetyl
Palate medium, watery, soft carbonation

Appearance 3.5, Aroma 3.5, Flavor 2, Palate 3, Overall 3. This meets the description of an AAL well, but just tastes baaad!

This one is a clear yellow-gold. It develops no more than a patchy island of head, though that stays up for a good while. It even, somehow, manages a decent amount of spotting as it goes.
This is an odd one. Something was done to try to jazz this one up (ha) in order to make it interesting since it's a light beer. What it is instead is strangely dusty and very oddly sweet, grainy and sugary and just weird all around. There's a toasted quality to the malts and some breads, but there's also a cereal grains note. The sweetness is difficult to describe but heavily linked to those grains, maybe some yeast acting strangely and some interesting esters. There's something like overripe pale fruit flesh and artificial sweetener, though a bit of leaf peeks through and a little dryness even comes out.
It's light in body, sure, but crisp and decently clean considering. It bites, even going almost bubbly, but it isn't all that far off from smooth.

This is the only light beer I've had that I couldn't tell was light. All but impossible to find in Seattle, oh how I wish it weren't so. If it were in every corner store I'd be drinking a pack every other night. Good job Dixie!
