12oz bottle. It appears that a greater calamity has befallen this brand than having a hurricane destroy the bricks and mortar of the brewery - while it is being rebuilt, they are contracting the brewing out to the Joseph Huber company, AKA Minhas.
This beer pours a clear, medium bronzed amber hue, with one finger of thinly foamy dirty white head, which leaves a low coral reef ring of lace around the glass as it quickly dissipates.
It smells of sweet, nutty, bready malt, a bit of musty caramel, dead leafy hops, and that trademark melted plastic adjunct 'essence' that must permeate the walls at the Minhas Craft Brewery in Wisconsin. The taste is more sweet, lightly toasted stale nutty malt, dusty Going out of Business caramel candies, herbal, somewhat wan fruity hops, and, well, a lingering dose of that same ol' house flavour.
The bubbles are fairly sedate, putting up little of note, the body medium-light in weight, a tad watery, and mostly smooth. It finishes sweet, the roasted malt rather blurred out, as the herbal, dry leaf, and petrochemical graininess rise up like that annoying party guest you worked so hard to forget about.
There's enough here to recommend this an adequate training bra for novice schwarzbier drinkers, but for those with the practiced Minhas 'flavour' hunting senses, the alarms are more subtle here than usual, but they're still going off. We have the MCBSW Sales Company to thank for bringing this north of the border, closer to the corporate headquarters that has likely marred an otherwise traditionally enjoyable American standard.

Poured 12oz into dogfish chalice
A- pours root beer brown with a half finger off white head
S- tons of amaretto, bready, some malt, some carrot
T/M- pretty think, again some amaretto, sweet candy, dried dark fruits, slightly bitter.
O- pretty easy drinking, unique flavor, worth a try. Better than drinking natty
