22 oz. bottle served on Horizon flight from SJC to PDX, 8.17.2010.
One finger off-white head, slightly rocky, fairly quick dissipation with minimal lacing. Pretty full nose, caramel malts, and resiny hops. Taste mirrors the nose with a slightly bitter finish. Medium full mouthfeel, not sticky despite the sweetness, not much effervescence. Drinkability is OK. The bitterness was a nice touch, but not sure I'd have or would buy this, but heh, free beer!

12oz bottle
Served in a perfect pint glass
A - An average pour got me about 90 percent foam. Once the foam subsided it appeared to be a deep amber color. The frothy head is a beige color.
S - I get some caramel and crystal malt. I also get some floral hops.
T - The taste is exactly what I expected from the aroma. I get sweet malt balanced with floral hops.
M - Medium
O - It's a little sweet.

I knew it was way out of season when I bought it, but it was still a slid brew.
A - Poured out an amber color with a two-finger head of bubbly, khaki colored foam. It left some sudsy trails of lacing.
S - It smelled piney and floral with a biscuity malt aroma.
T - Bread crust, sweet caramel, toffee and some mild roastiness. It had a light bitterness with a hint of pine.
M - It was crisp, sharp and smooth. A medium bodied ale that finished fairly dry.
O - This is a nice red ale. I haven't had much from Pyramid lately but this one was pretty good.

Pours deep deep red, almost maroon with a fluffy white head. Some thin, some big bubbles.
Smells like oily hops, CO2, esters and maybe a small amount of malt. Plenty of stuff to smell. Doesn't mean its my favorite beer smells, but there at least is plenty there which I can appreciate.
Taste is roasty and malty. Caramel is the main flavor I get from this. Some piney bitterness from the hops in the back of your throat.
Mouthfeel is about right. Smooth carbonation and slightly heavy feeling for the ABV it packs.
Overall, this is actually pretty damn good. Maybe I expected to dislike it, but I was surprised how much I'm enjoying this beer.

22-oz bottle into Samuel Smith "Tulip" pint glass
A - 3 fingers of thick cream-colored head over a transparent dark ruby/orange body; great lace
S - bready malt and citrus hops; weak
T - bready malt with light honey-like sweetness; citrusy hops appear in the middle for a nice balance; citrus thrives in the finish
M - medium body, medium/high carbonation, smooth and creamy
O - a middle-of-the-road red ale

Appearance: Surprising to get a gusher from a brewery such as Pyramid, but there you have it; loads of foam billow above the clear amber liquid; the flip side of a gusher is usually great retention and lacing and this beer is no exception
Smell: Toasted bread and citrusy hops; well-balanced but a bit understated
Taste: Well-balanced from the outset to the finish, with both toasty elements and a bit of citrus; minimal development, however
Mouthfeel: Medium body but effervescent
Overall: With a better mouthfeel, this would have been a surprisingly decent Amber (say what you want about the limitations of the style) but being over-carbonated relegates this beer to second class status

Nice copper color with a very small white head on the pour. Some minor lacing. Very mellow taste with some malt, biscuit, and wheat. The front end was smooth, and the back end was on the bitter side. My wife enjoyed this, and I thought it was decent and a great value ($1.88 for a bomber).
