12 ounce bottle poured into a pint glass

Appearance: Pours a beautiful dark-straw, slightly light amber color with reddish/pink highlights, topped by two fingers of off-white head, speckled with reddish/pink highlights. The head lasts forever, too, leaving an excellent lacing coating the glass as its drunk. Beautiful looking beer!

Aroma: Fruit! Cherry and plums, followed by yeast and maybe hits of oatmeal or biscuits. But definitely fruit!

Taste: Woe, nice balance of the traditional lager notes of yeast, malt, biscuits, subtle hops, that’s then accented by, not overpowered by the fruitiness of the cherry and plums, which gives a very slight, but pleasant sour note in the back of the throat. Delicious!

Mouthfeel: Very effervescent and palate cleansing. Excellent carbonation that mixes well with the fruit to make the beer extremely bright and extremely refreshing. This is an excellent summer beer!

Overall: I really liked this beer. It’s very refreshing with a superb balance between the fruitiness of the cherry and the breadiness/buscuitiness of the lager. I’m going to have to keep some more of this on hand.

An Orange pinkish color with a pink tinted head. Dry grain and cherries on the nose. Light crisp bubbly body. Sweet grains with a touch of cherry flavor. A little sour on the back end. Drinkable but was hoping for something a bit brighter in flavor and the sourness is kinda killing it for me. A touch of some sort of bite on the back end too, possibly a small touch of alcohol?

This was another house recommendation by the proprietress of Mari's Six Pac 'n' Mor in Reading during my most recent foray up that way. Let's see how it pans out.

From the bottle: "'We can't help it[.] We're all mad here[.] All the best people are[.]' - L. Carroll"; "Lager with cherries. Delightfully effervescent, blushing, and tart."; "lager with cherries & natural flavor".

The fizzing, popping finger of head was not long for this world, but it did have a pinkish cast to its off-white color. Nose smelled simply of lager, perhaps with notes of hay and alfalfa, but definitely lager. No discernible cherry. Color was a deep amber with NE-quality clarity. I have no reason to guess anything other than lager. Mouthfeel was thin, kind of watery and once more, I was not sensing anything other than lager. Was this bottle mislabeled? Finish was semi-sweet and I really found myself wondering what, if anything, happened to the cherries.

Poured from a brown 12 oz. bottle. Has a light brown color with pinkish hues and a 1/2 inch head. Smell is mild, some cherries, a touch of grains. Taste is also rather mild, grains, light cherry, a touch of malts. Feels light in the mouth and overall this is a mediocre beer.

A: Pours a slightly hazy peach hue with a thin white head that quickly dissipates leaving no lace and slight trail.

S: Slightly skunky aroma with hints of cherries.

T: Sweet lager taste with mild cherry and fruit flavors.

M: Medium body and medium carbonation.

O: Just a so-so brew – more like a typical lager than anything.

12oz bottled on 3/5/2013. Served in a pint glass

Appearance: Golden in color with a reddish hue. Less than a finger soapy white head dissipated almost instantly to a very thin collar and left no lacing. There was quite a bit of fine sediment floating in the glass as well.

Smell: Wet grain, cooked vegetables with some hints of sweet cherry juice. Smells like a macro lager with some cherry juice added.

Taste: Basically the same as the nose. Generic grain, cereal, cherry juice and maybe a hint of grassy hops. Cherries add some light tartness and sweetness on the palate which was appreciated.

Mouthfeel: Body is on the light side of medium with medium levels of fine prickly carbonation. Very mild bitterness in the finish, but it is noticeable.

Overall: This wasn't very good. I'm not sure if they used adjuncts in this but it smelled and tasted a lot like an adjunct lager. The cherry flavors are not overwhelming, though I'm not sure that would have been a bad thing in this case. I'd recommend skipping this one.
