Double D is a full-bodied Imperial India Pale Ale, flaunting sultry guava, mango, and tropical fruit aromas as a result of dry hopping with Citra, Zythos and Crystal hops. Brewed with light toasted malt and Bravo bittering hops, this double delights with smooth warming alcohols and a torrid finish.

Disclaimer: I grabbed this for a "build your own 6 pack" batch and it may have been sitting in the bottle shop for quite some time.

Look: Gorgeous, an absolutely beautiful clear dark amber - copper color. Poured a fair head at 1.5-2 fingers (I have big fingers) with a slightly off-white color. Visible carb.

Smell: A little muted (which is why I think I may have gotten unlucky with my selection) with some grapefruit notes that promised something nice and refreshing.

Taste: Now, I hope this was a bad one because the taste was really bad. Loads of phenol alcohol that made it taste like hand sanitizer. I was eating it with some chinese pork sausage, belgian endive, and crab cakes if that effects anything.

Feel: Didn't quite burn going down as much as it did scorch my insides.

Overall: DIPAs are my favorite style but this made me sad. I really wanted to like this beer and I am going to give it another try in the future but as of right now I'm not happy with it.

Picked up a six-pack at the local beer shop, mainly because I never had this beer and it's brewed here in Dover. The beer pours a cloudy orange color with a white head. The smell is of citrus and hops. The taste is of hops and possibly some kind of grain. Overall, it's a nice Imperial IPA.

Notes from June 30, 2016. 6pk purchased at Jungle Jim's International Market in Fairfield, OH.
12oz bottle into a wide mouth mason jar.
Has a deep orange amber color. It is crunchy yet smooth, firm, sweet, bracingly hop forward at 90IBU and there's some alcohol in the taste towards the end. The water is soft for this beer. Has a good head that sits a while and lacing sticks to glass. Drinks really easy. The 9%ABV sneaks up. Great tastes of sweet caramelized malts and melons, ripe fruit (like apricot) and a little bit of orange peel oil. Good balance. Double D DIPA packs a flavorful punch, is kind of bitter with a good long finish and it is excellent. Very refreshing. I'll be looking for it again.

Top reviewers on BA tend to rate this higher than the rest, possibly due to its subtle melony double d Zythos hopping, which is melony and odd.
a) Hazed apricot massive lace and lasting head.
s) Melon, malt, muddy.
t) Astringent fruit, melding melon and citrus punch, atop a malt core that's sweeter.
f) also like fruit punch, almost chewy, pulpy.
o) Original, odd, for a better take try Carton Wedge Issue Zythos.

The brew looks nice--deep orange heading toward amber with a sustained, sturdy off-white head. Mouthfeel is substantial. But where are the hops? The bottle was stamped with a 2020 brew date, and consumed in early Autumn 2021. So the hops were less than fresh. Unfortunately, after the Bravo hopping, and 3-hop dry-hopping, hop flavor was nowhere to be found. The toasted malts came through and kept the beer drinkable, but there was none of the advertised guava and tropical fruit flavor. Disappointing.

12 ounce bottle poured into a tulip glass.

L---Beer is cloudy & Amber colored. Head is big and off-white. Very good retention and excellent lacing.

S---Sweet, fruity hops.

T---Lots of maltiness. Some fruitiness as well.

F---Medium/full feel. Nicely carbonated.

O---I suspect this one might not be super fresh.

Dark amber color with a modest head on the draft. Piney hops and malty aroma. Medium bodied with a balanced mix of hops and malt, slightly sweet. Modest carbonation.

12 ounce can, looks like a julian date of 20126 (May 5, 2020) is stamped on the top side of the can. Served in a tulip, the beer pours a mostly clear orange/amber color with about an inch off-white head that stuck around for a long time. There's also a lot of lacing. The brew smells like grapefruit, caramel malt, and tropical fruit. Taste is similar to the aroma, but with the addition of some citrus peel, pine and honey flavors. Nice amount of bitterness in the finish. Mouthfeel/body is medium, it's smooth and easy to drink with a moderate amount of carbonation. I thought it was an enjoyable brew, certainly worth a try. Thanks to my buddy Denis for this one!

It runs a bit to the sweet and malty side, but overall delivers a nicely balanced flavor. There's a noticable hop presence and the 9% ABV is well disguised. Yes!

5 oz pour on tap. Surprised I haven't had this before...it is an old-school DIPA with aroma and flavors of caramel, sweet malt, pine, and citrus. Fairly high bitterness but the malt helps balance things out. Solid but nothing I'll seek out again.

Pours a deep amber with a large off white head that left nice lacing. That is really the o lay nice thing I can say about the beer. The smell is citrus and skunky with a malt presence in the background. Taste is grapefruit, grapefruit pith, dank, skunky, hint of malt. Overly bitter with no depth of flavor. Medium bodied and carbonated, very dry finish with a lingering bitterness and aftertaste.

Not bad but no depth to the beer. Smell and feel are blah and Finish is undesirable. Some of the citrus comes through, but the overall flavor and finish doesn’t work.

Bottled 3/11/15; drank 3/28/15 @ JoJo's.

Drank straight from the bottle; no visual cues.

Skunk-y hops & mild honey in the nose.

Medium mouthfeel.

Mild honey flavor up front with a bitingly bitter finish.

Barely any flavor with a punishing finish; permanent pass.
