Quite a bit of tangy tone to this one. Also a lot of ink to it as well. Hoppy spices are clogging things up as well. The whole combination makes it much more robust and intense than I would like for a lager. Doesnt seem to have any level of restraint at all. There is nothing refreshing about this beer.

Pours golden in color with a smallish white head thats pretty dense. aromas of lite spicy hops and pilsner malts come through.
Taste is malty with a dry spiceness. very sutle hop. Tart and puckering in the mouth.
Not a bad beer but seems to lack flavor feels washed out.

Thanks to Rhettroactive for forcing the issue on this one!
A. Pours a lovely pale straw with a nice golden undertone. Two fingers of beautiful and pillowy eggshell white head quickly settles to a half finger. Excellent and consistent lacing. Top notch looking pils here.
S. Wow, a really pleasant nose of freshly baked bread, like a baguette fresh out of the oven. Also a nice, sweet, semi-citrusy hop profile. Very floral aromas combine with dry crackers to create a very pleasing bouquet. Very very nice.
T. Lots of spent grains, some floral and lightly spicy hops, tempering caramel malts, and a bit of a dry, grassy finish.
M. Light, crisp, clean, refreshing, well-carbed. Really a nice balance here and near perfect integration.
O. Don't sleep on Dominion. They are still producing some excellent brews and this is absolutely one of them. Great recommendation, Rhett, and a must-try pilsner for anyone living in a city that gets above 90 degrees in the summer.

Had this brand at least once before Dominion was bought and then production moved to Fordham, in Delaware.
Luckily, Fordhad does a phenomenal job with lagers, and they don't draw my criticism for doing a brand based on a Virginia name in a totally not-Virginia state. Beer is still good if it's good, right?
Hazy deep straw to early gold color.
Clean white head, good retention.
Good noble-seeming hop aroma.
Balanced Czech-like Pils bitterness.
Nice mouthfeel, with that hint of wortiness meets grassy hop.
I think it'd be a come-down to say a good "lawn mower beer", because it's got more depth and character than that. A great hot weather beer. Well done.

A: Crisp, crystal clear beer with maybe a finger's worth of white head. There looks to be a lot of carbonation going on as bubbles rise from all sides of the glass initially, then settle down to just coming from the bottom. There is a decent amount of lacing left on the edges of the glass.
S: Crystal malts bring a good deal of sweetness to the aroma, and it is also quite grainy. A slight bit of floral notes work together with a lemon zest brightness to make this smell like a nice beer.
T: Bready notes up front are tempered by a slight taste of white grapes before the hops kick in with a heavy floral taste. The hops bring a really nice bitterness and crispness that balances the sweet really well.
M: Crisp, moderately light with a decent amount of carbonation. There is a slight slickness to this beer, but also a stickiness in the back of the throat.
O: There is a plethora of mediocre, forgettable and just plain bad pilsners out there, but this isn't one of them. It is well balanced, has enough body and flavor that I know I'm drinking a real beer. Definitely a worthwhile summer brew.

Poured from the bottle into a pilsner style glass dated April 19th 2012.
A real brassy gold and orange colored body, super crystal clear with lots of cola sticking carbonation on the glass, with an occasional bubbles bursting to the surface rather quickly. Head is big and rocky, with some good sized bubbles and white as can be.
Pretty solid, just wish there were some more finer bubbles in the body.
Wonderful pilsner malt and honey action. Some grassy bitter hop and a bit of phenols. Seems a bit astringency might be coming. Smells solid and refreshing.
Palate is sort of muted and small. Dull crispness a bit, not much of a malt presence in the middle of the palate, finishes fairly clean with a good body, even some density. Bitterness doesn't seem to translate nicely, nor sense of hop and tangyness either.
Overal long story short, not too many complaints, but can't say I am excited about this one.

This beer pours a clear gold with no head or lace. It's aroma is of citrus, dough, and grass. The flavor is grassy with lemon notes and a mildly bitter aftertaste in the finish. The mouthfeel is light. Old Dominion Beach House Golden Pilsner is a decent beer. Slightly recommended.
