I been here 4 times in 12 years. I mainly come for the seafood, which can be quite good. Its a nice night out to entertain folks, as they can try different style beers. For the beer geeks its very disappointing. I tried the mailbock which is quite decent, but nothing I would make a special trip for. It can be a fun place if they have any live music.
Service varies allot by when you come in and where you sit.
I have to rate this place low, because I think of all the local GB this is the worse. Go for the food, not the beer.
Some folks like their beer and that's great, and its on the beach.
Ok its not that bad but its just a restaurant really that happens to make a beer of two and not that well.
Visit again on August 20, 2010:
not much changed, had the seasonal bock, it sucked like most their beers, the strange stout was really bad this time, not Recommended. Food was decent.

I love the beer but the food is not impressive at all. There are only a couple good things on the menu, and many times I have received my food over cooked and in poor form. I even found a curly dark hair on my sandwich once. The restaurant is pretty dingy and needs a good deep cleaning and a remodel. The beers that are brewed on premises are wonderful! They have a pale ale that is very hoppy with a pretty high ABV!!! They always have a seasonal brew that changes. This place has a devoted group of frequenting customers that attend happy hour on a daily basis.
Overall, great beer, food needs huge improvement!

Atmosphere - As you walk in the bar area is to your left and the dinning room is to your right. Behind the is a glass wall dividing the bar from the brewery. Lots of wood throughout the place. Has a small town local restaurant feel for some reason.
Quality/Selection - They had six house beers on tap that where fairly average tame styles. Their Pale was probably the best thing they had on during my visit. Sad to say I don't think too many people are coming here for locally crafted beer.
Service - I sat at the bar during my visit and was served by the bartender. In this day in age of lowered standards I'll say he was average. I asked for some beer and he brought it to me and then asked if I wanted anything else to which I replied with yeah a menu. The menu never came so I finished my beer and left.

Ragtime has a good reputation and seems to be popular with the locals. I've been a couple times and while I don't hate the place, I'm not as impressed at a lot of other people.
It's not a bad place, it's actually well above average, but it's just not great like a lot of people have told me.
It's a well-updated place, not a little hole in the wall. The staff is friendly and there are nice views of the action around the building if you can get a window table.
The food is fair, not bad, not great, but a bit pricey. Same with the beer. I read over the beer selection several times before finally deciding what I wanted. It wasn't because the selection was huge, I just didn't see anything that I really wanted.
It's a place to go once, but my wife and I don't make a habit of it.

Located a mere two blocks from the beach, the main doorway opened on to the combo m.d.s. and logo item display case on the right with a bar at a left oblique and another bar running down the left wall. The main bar, however, was all of the way aft on the right and it was a marble topped square with the kitchen off to the left. There was bi-level restaurant seating (booths below, tables and chairs above) on the left, approaching the lav. Once again, my Gordon Biersch Passport Rewards card was accepted. Keep scoffing at my love of chain brewpubs, but I'm going to keep frequenting them. Friendly staff and I got to meet the brewer.
Beers: Dolphin's Breath Lager; Westbury Wheat; Red Brick Ale; A. (Alexander) Strange Stout.
Seasonals - Honey Bock; Bitter American Pale Ale.

I have been frequenting this establishment for several years in spite the fact that I live 1200 miles away from it. It is always our first stop on vacation every year. Their Red Brick Ale is my favorite beer in the world. I might add that it goes well with their blackened snapper. The rest of their ales are quite good as well. The atmosphere is very nice. Obviously a big hit with the locals. The brewmaster (Scott) is a hell of a nice guy, and is happy to talk beer with you. He was nice enough to give me a number of good tips as I have gotten into brewing at home over the last several years. If you find yourself in Jacksonville I would highly recommend taking Atlantic Blvd. east to second street, look left, go in grab a seat and prepare to enjoy!

Overall a great place to hang out. It's a combonation bar and resturant and one of the few that are equally as good.
The resturant is great, noew olreans style food, lots of seafood and it's right near the beach. The foos it not overpriced and most meals I have had there have been excellent for a local beer pub.
The bar has great beands playing there sometimes and the bar service is great and they have an outside beer garden. The weakness is the beer. It's adequate and not a total zero. Just needs improvement. The american pale ale is there top beer by far. and similar to a SN with a little more hop bite.

First and foremost, i love all brewpubs in Jacksonville Florida for the reason of availablity of great beer and excellent selection of food as well.
Ragtime is no exception. With that said it is the closest to the beach and has the most party-friendly atmosphere than Seven Bridges and A1A Ale Works. Nice wood plank look of the Ocean.
Service in top notch with highly entelligent staff to explain every detail of their establishment. Selection of wonderous selections of fresh seafood make it a plus. Crawfish baby yeah
Food is excellent with the craft beer that it is served with. Very reasonable.

Ragtime review;
This is a local favorite here in the Jacksonville Beaches / NE Florida area. They have good food, great service, great music, great atmosphere - and best of all great beer!!! They typically have a full bar, with 5-8 craft brews brewed in house directly from the serving tanks. I highly recommend anyone to visit this place if you are in the NE Florida area. It's in a great area of our beaches community so check it out. It has been there for decades, and it is ALWAYS consistent!
Ragtime is located in at the intersection of Neptune and Atlantic beach communities and the area is a great plac to walk around for people watching, shopping, bar hopping, nightlife.

This is a Gordon Biersch establishment, related to the Seven Bridges & A1A Aleworks that are located here.
A - very nice looking place with 3 bars and a nice restaurant with some exposed bricks. A place you can take a date and enjoy yourself. You can sit in different areas of the restaurant and it's like a totally different place.
Q - Clean establishment, nice tables.
S - I have heard various stories on the service, however the times that I have been here, the service was always good. Sometimes you may have a decent wait to be seated on a Fri or Sat night, but what do you expect?
S - The beer section is lacking, the food menu is good. They serve liquor as well. I think it's better than most places, but as for beer, it's either the bottle options or their own. Their Pale ale is pretty good though with a nice Hop bite.
F - The food is very good. Good seafood options and the seafood and pasta is very tasty.
A nice place to visit, especially if you are in the Beaches area. Enjoy.
