Lived in Glenwood Springs for a few years, and I wish someone would open a new brewery in the valley to compete with this place.
Beer- nothing stands out, I have tried all or most of their brews and they are all standard beers, nothing exciting or new.
Ambiance- is ok, its a large place, so it can get noisy and hard to have a conversation.
Service- probably the only good thing about this place. Usually decent service, quick servers.
Food- is ok, large portions. But again, everything here is standard, nothing pops or makes it stand out.
Note: they do not fill growlers, they do exchange them. This ticks me off when a brewery does this, why not fill? That way the customer knows it is fresh and has not been sitting for days.
Overall always unimpressed when I visit.
SOMEONE OPEN A NEW BREWERY!

Went to Glenwood yesterday hoping to have a bit of food, a few beers and bring home a growler of good beer to have. Had no issues with the food, mediocre nothing special. Not allowed to fill outside growlers due to health issues, but can refill their own stainless steel (aluminum ones) if you buy from them and bring it back in (how that makes sense I dont know). Purchased a growler from them to have last night and today. Opened it within 1hour of purchasing it and it was flat. Since they prefill the growlers for you you have no idea when it was filled since undated. Tried to post on their facebook about it and my comments were deleted twice, no explanation about how it could be flat or offer of a refund.

Wont be going back there, not missing anything by not going.

I liked this place a lot, but not necessarily for their beer. its a cool vibe in a bigger place, right in downtown glenwood. the place is comfy, with wooden features and some local artwork. more than ten beers on tap, impressive selection. however, several of the beers are pretty lacklucter, especially the razz wheat. a few though, like the stout and the ipa were excellent, so I guess its kind of hit or miss on the brews. also, you get a ton of beer in the tasting sampler, so that might be a good way to go if you want to try a bunch without committing to a pint. we had chicken wings, and they were seriously incredible. didn't eat anything else, but if the wings are any indication of their other grub, it will be sensational. the barkeep was a nice enough guy, real busy, maybe understaffed, but he did his best. prices were reasonable I thought, maybe a little high considering some of the beers weren't great, but not expensive enough to deter a visit. overall a fun spot id be happy to stop back into when I am in town again next. a word of warning though, don't pee in the alley out back of the building, local authorities don't take kindly to it...

I was on a hot bike ride with my wife on the Rio Grande Trail and we stopped here for lunch. The boil was on in the brewery and the smell of hot wort and hops was agreeable. I felt at home immediately.
We had agreeable servings of fish and chips (always an easy choice in a brewpub). The fish was fresh with a tasty beer batter. The chips were fresh and hot. They served a savory slaw with this that I enjoyed.
I had their house porter. This was a quaffable drink that refreshed me during our ride. I also tried their St. James Irish Red. My wife usually avoids pubs but enjoyed this place. The menu was interesting and had many options.
The wait staff was attentive and knowledgeable. The waiter not only served us well, but provided directions back to the bike trail.
I would gladly eat and drink here again.

I've had the pleasure of stopping here a few times in the past 18 months so its time for a review. The pub is attached to the Hotel Denver across the river from the hot springs and directly across from the Amtrak station. A few large brewing kettles are on the right on the way in. There are two bar areas to choose from, with the front one seemingly more popular. It is also flanked by more fermenters and brewing equipment. They serve a good selection of house beers, a rootbeer, and a guest hard cider. They seem to brew mostly English ales as well as a honey ale and raspberry wheat.On my recent visits (stayed at hotel for week) I have tried their Porter- good version of one of my favorite styles, more on the brown porter end but with good mouthfeel and dark character; the Defiance English style Pale- also a solid performer; the Canyon Trail Pale-advertised as "Its hoppy", but really it is not;the Red Mt ESB- good but wish it wasn't nitro pour; and the Vapor Cave IPA- finally a good hoppy beer though not a hop monster, just a well balanced English interpretation. The food has been good (actually I have not eaten anywhere else in the Springs). It is a varied menu and they have specials on the board each night. Service can be hit or miss, but you will have that anywhere. Except here it goes down with a cold pint of finely crafted ale. They win awards for their beers on a regular basis so if you are looking for reason to get off of I-70 between Vail and Grand Junction, this is it.

I love the Brew Pub.

Glenwood Springs doesn't have a lot of places like this. Yet, every town needs a place like this - its locally owned, it's food is decent, and most importantly?

They make their own beer.

Believe me, that isn't something you take for granted in between Vail and Grand Junction. To make is to love, and these people are serious about their beer. They're serious about their regulars and they're serious about making the summer tourists feel like they're at home, bellying up to their own bar, in their own neighborhood.

Granted, the service isn't fantastic, but come on! It's called the Brew Pub. What do you want, white gloves?

Glenwood ain't Aspen (thank God), and it ain't Carbondale (thank God). Glenwood is a nice place to raise a family still, and I hope it stays that way. The Brew Pub has a lot to do with that - and is the type of place where you should go for a beer.

Glenwood Springs, CO was the last leg on the big West Coast journey before going home to Glenwood, IA. This was just one of several brewpubs along the way that we went to on a whim, and it was quite a pleasant surprise. The building is located directly across the river from the Hot Springs.

When we first walked in, I noticed they had pre-filled growlers of their regular offerings in a cooler by the door. The brewery is off to the right and the bar is to the left. There were a lot of awards from the World Beer Cup adorning the wall, ranging from bronzes, silvers, and golds. Went through a couple of samples before deciding on taking a growler of IPA, which was very good. Even the pre-prohibition pilsener was good.

At first, I thought maybe we were being ignored by the waitstaff because we were obviously tourists ogling around the place, and I've always got the impression that 'native' Coloradans are total dicks to tourists. But in his defense, it was the 4th of July and the place was pretty busy with only one person behind the bar, and we were hassling him for samples so we could decide on a growler to take home.

Overall, if I ever find myself in Glenwood Springs again, I will definitely stop by here again, and hopefully before the kitchen is closed, because we had a hell of a time finding food anywhere but a gas station that night. I could easily picture myself coming back to Glenwood Springs again, too, for some biking/hiking/kayaking/relaxing in the hot springs while taking in the beautiful scenic canyon, etc. so it's very likely I'll find myself here in the future.

I was told this place is a must see and definitely not one to pass on by the hotel lobby. I needed a few good beers anyway.

Nice place really, good mix of modern western mixed with a more traditional euro-pub. Beers weren't all clearly listed, the noted all the regulars but didn't mention the barleywine was still on tap. I don't think they were interested in impressing people with their lineup.

Well taken care of place with a lot of nice beers on tap. Proprietay glassware were nice beer glasses for style, the bartender poured every beer with no head though, which was frustrating.

Service was fair, my waitress didn't pay me much attention, but the bartender did hook me up with a free sample of the barleywine which was fantastic. Not a whole lot of motivation though which was sad.

Nice assortment of beers, no amber or porter or pale, but there was an esb which was nice. The beers to choose from were well crafted as well. I wish the barleywine would have been advetised as well as noting the stout was on nitro. Still good lineup of beer.

Food was okay, nothing exceptional, but tasty and paired well with the beer.I had the chicken enchiladas, the rice was tasty, but the enchiladas were a little meh...

Beer was expensive, 4.25 a pint, but the food was cheap so it balanced. A free sampler of barleywine made up for it though. Nice place. I'll definitely stop in again.

A perfectly decent brewpub with perfectly decent brewpub food (though the onion rings do stand out here). The atmosphere is, well, brewpub-y, bright and heavy on the light colored wood booths. The service is friendly, if not overly crisp. The beer, however, is pretty good. The IPA and brown ale are particularly notable. There are better restaurants in town than this, but it is a good place to stop for an interesting local brew that you won't find elsewhere, and the locals definitely hang out here and support the brewery.

After picking the boss up at the airport and returning them to Vail, they cut me loose for the day. Since check-in at the next hotel wasn't until 4 pm, a it was 1:30, I decided to check out Glenwood Springs. This was the first brewpub I was able to actually see from the highway, and that made it easy to find. It was 2:30 in the afternoon and the place was full. Heck, Glenwood Springs was full.

I only ordered a brown ale. I had to get back to Vail, and I didn't want to deal with the traffic with a buzz. It was a really nice brown ale, and was only $3.75.

If I ever find myself in Glenwood Springs again, I will stay in the Hotel Denver, and spend the whole time at the bar.
