This is a rotating/seasonal brew by Glenwood Canyon Brewing Company in Glenwood Springs, CO. I enjoyed this on tap in a Glenwood Canyon imperial pint. 8.0% ABV using five styles of hops, including Yakima, per the server. This was the 1,800th batch of any beer brewed by this microbrewery, so it was called "Batch 1800 Double Pale Ale." However, the server stated that the formulas do not change significantly from batch to batch.
A: Light amber with minimal retention and lacing.
S: Floral and grassy hops dominate, also with roasted malt and brown sugar.
T: Roasted malt, citrusy and grassy hops, candy sugar. Excellent hops profile. The piney hops are not present, but the hops that are used here are well balanced.
M: Medium-light body with a great hops bite that grabs your attention but doesn't dry the palate out long-term. Not the rip-your-tongue-off hops of an Imperial IPA, but a tasty brew for those who enjoy hops. The high ABV is apparent only when you stand up. Masked very well.
O: A very enjoyable Strong APA from a microbrewery.
