Bright golden color with lots of thick head with good retention.
Aroma of malt and grassy hops.
Sweet malt flavor balanced by its grassy hops. Mildly dry but bitter aftertaste. Some buttery notes.
Full body with strong carbonation.
On the lower range of drinkability among Pilsners. I found it a bit too heavy given its buttery notes on a sweet malty base. Number 4 is still their best bet.

From the 25 fl. oz. green bottle with the screwy flip top. No. 13.08.12-15:10/13.08.13-5W. Sampled on March 31, 2013.
The pour is yellow with a longer lasting head than Baltika's #2 and #5 pale lagers. Good clarity.
The nose is fairly weak with some grains, grass, and a slight hop note but they all meld together in a blase fashion and do not make the beer all that enticing.
The body is light.
The flavor has a little more character with grainy malts, astringency, and a slightly lingering clean hop finale. Heineken, Carlsberg, St Pauli Girl - take your pick. It is very much like those but I think it is meant to be. Baltika #2 is better.

My first Russian, this was purchased out of sheer curiosity.
Taste wise it is malty with a very minor hop presence
Cereal notes, no unpleasant after taste that would accompany lesser lagers
Very Crisp and somewhat dry, In my opinion its a little too carbonated.
Overall it is sweet and drinkable.

Appearance: Clear medium golden body with a large white head, thin, fine-beaded lacing coats the glass wall. A few fat bubbles drift lazily to the surface.
Aroma: Lots of clean pale malt with a mildly earthy yeast note, clean and understated.
Taste: Opens with an abundance of pale malt, very mildly sweet, somewhat like freshly -baked white bread, as well as grassy hops. There seems to be a faint alcohol presence as well. AS the taste progresses, a very mild hop presence presents itself, which brings the taste to a graceful close.
Mouth feel: Smooth, soft, very pleasant.
Drinkability/notes: Very drinkable, in a pleasant, understated sort of way, a quality beer, which speaks softly.
Presentation: Packaged in a custom 500ml (16.9 oz) green glass bottle with a pry-off crown, served in a New Belgium Brewing chalice.

Poured chilled in ale glass.
A: clear light yellow; lots of carbonation, aburst in clouds; thin head;
S: oh boy, macrostink; not appealing at all
T: hints of lemon, orange; nicely sweetened; a bit grouchy at the end of the swallow (slightly metallic)
M: robust, astute
If you can taste without smelling, it's not bad for a dinner beer.

Pours a very clear golden yellow. Moderate head that lasts a few minutes. Good bit of carbonation, bubbles rose for at least 15 minutes. Malt and grain aroma. Taste is slightly malty and grassy. Pronounced mineral aftertaste. Not a great beer, but better than Bud or Coors. At least now I can say I've had Russian beer. I actually expected it to be worse than it is.

Bottled 6/22/12. Best before 6/22/13.
Pours a clear golden yellow with a foamy white head that settles to a small cap on top of the beer. Small dots of lace slowly drip into the remaining beer on the drink down. Smell is of malt, grain, and a slightly skunky aroma. Taste is mainly of malt and grain with a mild corn flake flavor on the finish. There is a mild bitterness on the palate after each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty poor beer that doesn't smell or taste very good.

I got this beer from a Ukrainian co-worker, thanks Alex!
500ml bottle served in a pilsner glass.
L - clear bright yellow color with a white head that thinned to a ring despite the constant rise of tiny bubbles.
S - grainy and grassy.
T - starts out kind of sweet and grainy with grassy (a bit skunky) bitterness mid way finishing on the sweet side.
F - light, crisp and refreshing.
O - not as bad as I thought it was going to be.

A-golden with a huge off white head
S-smells like a typical European lager. European grains and honey. Doesn't smell terrible.
T-actually comes in with a very nice and crisp taste of light honey and fresh grains with a subtle hint of that classic european lager taste. The after-taste has more honey, more crisp grains, and more bitterness. This is actually quite okay!
M-crisp medium carbonation with a semi dry finish
O-I actually love this. It has a taste of high quality and it's so drinkable! This has got to be the best euro lager I've ever had. I wish I could find this by the case here. It is quite cheap though!

Poured into a plastic cup. Minimal head, just enough to cover the surface. Golden, transparent color.
Smells like barley, other grains. Pleasant.
Watery taste at first, progressively sweeter.
High carbonation, which dampens the mood. Crisp and light body.
Not horrible, not great.

Smell: very little smell
Taste/mouthfeel: very light, clean, fresh taste. Light bodied, very little aftertaste. Refreshing, but not too interesting
Overall, a good beer. Haven't tried many Russians, so I don't have much to compare it to, but it reminded me a bit of Steinlager Pure (a Euro Pale Ale).

I picked this beer up in my pursuit of reviewing all 104 styles. This beer is one of the easiest to get for the Dortmunder/Export Lager style.
I didn't expect much from a brewer coming out of Russia, but this beer surprised me. This is a very easy to drink lager.
The smell is nice and clean. It carries a minimal presence. The flavor is also very clean. I get a little bit of grassiness, and a tiny nutty touch.
I recommend this as a very easy to drink lager. The flavor is spot on.

A: The beer is clear straw yellow in color and has a light amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a one finger high bright white head that died down but consistently left a thin layer of bubbles covering the surface and a thick ring around the edge of the glass.
S: There are faint aromas of sweet malt in the nose and light grassy hops.
T: The taste is similar to the smell but is stronger with flavors of biscuit malts, corn and malty sweetness - some dry biscuit.
M: It feels light-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation, little bitterness and a little stale.
O: This beer is easy to drink and goes down easily. I would have no problem knocking back a few of these.

Out of a bomber this beer was a clear golden color with one finger of white foam. The retention was only average and it left mild lacing. The aroma was of macro grains, a hint of floral hops, sweet malt and a little bread. The flavors were pretty much exactly like the aroma: boring and right down the middle. Drinkable, to be sure, but so blasé as to be unappealing. The mouthfeel was fine, the body medium/light and the carbonation bit light too. Just kinda uninspired and clearly like a Budweiser for the Russian working class.

Tried the Baltika Export Lager from a bottle.
After pouring into a standard pint glass, a very big white head composed of medium and large bubbles formed but it diminished quickly. Extremely clear and light gold in color.
There is a hint of light toast, honey and bubbles on the nose.
Very light taste with some background toasty malt and a little sweetness as well.
Extremely smooth and easy to drink, even a little too easy going down - this could be a good summertime brew or even a session beer. Number 7 is similar to but just slightly better than the Baltika #2 or the #5 in my opinion.

Pours pale gold with a decent foamy white head. No lace, a slight ring of retention. Nice clarity, some bubbles rising.
Light malt and grain, a little corny, but not as much as expected. No skunk, even though we are talking green glass here.
Light grassy malt, a little drop of dextrose, throughout, including initial sip and finish. Good change in the malt, where it dries out and crisps a bit. Moderate bitterness, and lightly bitter with light malt grassy sweetness at the end. Odd, but ok.
Light to medium bodied. Needs a little more carbonation.
Overall, not bad. I could put these down in the summer, and have them with grilled food, but this is a bit flawed to want to have 6 on ice. Just ok. Didn't hate it.

Poured from the bottle, this beer is a clear golden/yellow colour that reminds me a bit of citrus soda. Head, at first, is big and billowy, but fades quickly to nothingness. Smells of biscuits, citrus, grass and grains. Tastes very clean. Subtle citrus, some grains, and a touch of dry hops. Mouthfeel is thin, crisp, and a tad dry. A decent lager, and a few steps above swill.

Appearance - Pours a clear golden yellow with a finger width of dense foamy white head. Lots of bubbles present.
Smell - Grains, grass, lemon citrus.
Taste - Grains flavour is most predominant, with a slight apple juice taste. Slight hint of citrus.
Mouthfeel - Crisp, dry and refreshing feel, with light-to-medium body and high level of carbonation.
Overall - Refreshing lager by Baltika. One of the better mainstream/export lagers I've had in a while. Was surprised to see the pull-tab style cap on the bottle. This brew is certainly good for a hot summer day.

A 500ml green glass bottle with a BB of March 2012. ABV is stated as 5.5%. Russian beer - woooo!
Poured into a straight pint glass. A clear pale-gold colour with medium carbonation. Forms a decent head of creamy white foam that hangs around for a minute or so before subsiding. Aroma of light malt with hints of grain, stewed hops and DMS, in addition to a sweet note that reminds me of honey.
Tastes of light malt with faint notes of grain and stewed hops. A whisper of aromatic hops. A mild hint of solvent in the background, and a slight carbonic flavour. Mouthfeel is light, smooth and prickly. Hardly any aftertaste - just the fading memory of light malt.
An OK lager, but nothing special. Clean, bland, watery and probably quite refreshing on a hot day. Would be an acceptable choice in the absence of any alternative, but I won't be picking this up again.

500ml bottle into pint glass 16/1/12
A clear straw yellow with some tiny particles upon further inspection, almost no visible carbonation but a well sustained bone white foam that leaves several rings of lace, looks sexy
S lemongrass? or lemon and grassy hops, a little cracker and that's about it, simple but solid
T no different from the smell, in fact I can't really notice any subtle differences
M crisp with a clean finish, its light and fluffy and work well on a hot day
O decent stuff but nothing amazing, much better then our mass produced brews
for style I liked it but wouldn't go searching for it, I think the coolest part about this beer is the peel off cap. I'm a little surprised the razor sharp edge left behind hasn't caused lawsuits.

Bottle purchased at the MLCC Portage & Arlington. Served ~3C in a beer mug. Went in looking for Rochefort 10, they were out and somehow got talked into trying this.
A: Crystal clear, straw gold with a big white head that laces beautifully. Best lager I have ever seen...
S: Spicy hops, corn, a hint of dankness under it all...
T: Earthy bitterness, corn, light notes of bread, sweetness.
M: Strong lingering sweetness, weaker than expected carbonation (which I appreciate)
O: Not a bad beer, and good for what it is. Eminently quaffable... Still not my cup of tea...

Poured from bottle into a stemless red wine glass. Color is pure light gold, with no real head to speak of. The effervescence doesn't seem very emphatic, which is confirmed by the palate. Up front, this is light, totally dry, and slightly fruity, with light pear and honey, and just a hint of biscuity malt. The effervescence is very weak indeed (perhaps my closure was faulty?). This lager is eminently quaffable, and inescabaply boring.
I'm not the sort to drink beer while I do yard work and such, but if I were, I suppose I'd drink something like this. I see Baltika #7's chief selling point being that it is a worthy substitute for water. I suppose that's not saying much.
