Head is big, white, noisy, fluffy. Beer is very clear gold. Pretty. Sweet fruit and some spice share the nose with a little barbershop. The beer starts fruity sweet with some alcohol. Middle is thick and fruity: a little cherry syrupy. Finishes sweet with peanuts and anise. Alcohol sours the mix a little. Again, not really bad. Some decent spice, sweet fruit. But alcohol and some syrupy cloy detract.

Poured from the bottle into a nonic pint glass.

A ridiculously clear, crystal see through body with a mix of soda and small pinhead carbonation, with a buttery gold color and mirror like finish. Head forms slightly foamy, shocking white, and about three fingers. Settles down to a thin bubbly puck with scattered lacing. Not too bad.

Nose is fairly pleasant also. Mild sweet corn, and sticky soft malt and a little bit of honey. Not any sense of burning alcohol or fussel quality, fairly alright so far.

Palate hits with a thick honey and spicy sweetness quality. Mild hop bitterness but a corn and mixing sweetness fills the mid palate. Kind of an interesting spice and sweetness, but the body is also a bit thick as well and fairly syrupy. Fairly clean, with a minor alcohol bite.

Overall though not bad for what it is I guess, not having any problem drinking it that's for sure surprisingly.

Pale golden color with a three finger head with good retention.
Faint aroma of biscuit malt and grassy hops.
Sweet malty flavor with grassy hops and hints of booze and sweet syrup. Boozed aftertaste.
Light to medium body with good carbonation with small bubbles.
Right at the front it did not feel right to me. Too sweet with a non-harmonic booze giving a low drinkability, especially for a 500 ml bottle. I seemed that it would never finish.

Had this one at a fair in Yerevan, Armenia. It was about $2.50 and I was just looking for something that packed some high alcohol content. The smell was pretty off-putting, it smelled almost like someone just dumped some hard liquor into a non-alcoholic beer. The taste pretty much followed the nose. Can't speak for the appearance as I had it in a bottle and I don't know enough Russian to ask for a cup. I don't think I'd ever drink this again unless I'm really in a beer drinking bind somewhere in the ex-Soviet Union again.

Looks like ___, smells like ____.

Tastes like sugar, chalk, flour, ginseng root.

I would rather drink Olde English, not sure about this being better than any 40oz.

I was like hmm 1.99, in with the bombers, maybe they know something cool on the cheap...

Can't even pretend to be cool with this one.

I just take the loss, full responsibility, I need a BMC to bring my taste buds back.

Baltika Number 9. I, like probably everyone else that is not a raging alcoholic, tried this beer due to the fact that it cost $5 and came in a 51 ounce coke-like plastic bottle. There is a certain intrigue where you're thinking... It can't be that bad can it?

From that point of view, it's not that bad. If I were down on my luck and needed cheap booze, I would pick Number 9 before a 40 ounce of malt liquor any day.

Straw color with a foamy 2 finger white head, with decent retention and lacing. Smells like overly sweet malt and alcohol.

Doesn't taste any better than it smells. Alcohol and sweet malt. Reminds me of Malt Liquor. Harsh in many ways, and unappealing in every way.

Medium to full bodied and overly carbonated. Not much to say about this beer other than it sucks. Definitely recommend avoiding this train wreck.

Nice sweetness in a strong lager. It looks and acts a little weak on the pour. There is no huge billowy head or lacing. The aroma is nice but I enjoyed drinking this beer immensely with my meal. It went down very good with some Russian Jazz by the Ganelin Trio Poco a Poco playing in the background. This is a must try beer in my book. Good sweet stuff.

Enjoyed from a bottle into a tall weissber glass

A: Deep yellow golden with two fingers of a fluffy white head lots of small streaming bubbles, nice thick lacing

S: Sweet, bready, fruity, alcohol

T: Grain, booze, over ripe fruits, slight metallic flavor on the end, the booze really stays with you, goes down nice and warm.

M:Medium body and carbonation, warm as it goes down

O: Very nice import malt liquor, packs a good punch, one of my go to beers for if I want to get drunk. Could be dangerous due to the relatively light mouth feel and 8.0% ABV. I enjoy the bite very much though.

Poured cold from the $1.99, 16.9 oz bottle.

It is a clear, very light yellow colour. It looks exactly like the ram's piss from the movie Beerfest... Slightly hoppy to the nose with a distinctive yeasty-funkiness. The taste is like a slap in the the face. The 8% ABV is QUITE apparent with a bit of grain-taste. There is a nice aftertaste of hops, but that doesn't help you get over the fact that you have a full glass to get through. You should expect to get what you pay for, but this is what I would think that the ram's piss from the movie Beerfest tasted like...

Would I buy it again? Never.
