Lobster Ale is a copper "Red" ale with a medium hop flavor and aroma. It offers all the qualities of "Red Ale" with subtle levels of fruity-ester flavor and hint of caramel. A slight yeast haze and chill gives Lobster Ale a clear. foamy. rich head. Belfast Bay Brewing Co, is near tile Canadian provinces of New Brunswick and Nova Scotia known for it Red Ale breweries.

When Pat Mullen's wife suggested that a brewery from Maine should make a beer called Lobster Ale. a user-friendly red ale seemed to be the perfect brew, We scaled back on the heavily hopped formulas our neighbors produce. We then added slight amounts of black and dark crystal grains to produce a smooth. medium hopped brew. The result is a very flavorful and drinkable red ale with an extremely smooth finish.

355 ml bottle, from Vaaland, Bryne. ABV in Norway is 4.7%. Copper coloured beer, large to moderate off-white head. Strong aroma of caramel and treacle, some fruity hints too. The mouthfeel is fairly light. The flavour is moderately malty with notes of caramel, but is not very sweet. Some roasted malts and fruity hops in the finish. I don’t know why this particular beer was chosen for import to Norway, but it is nice enough to drink. Just not America’s best, though.

L: deep copper red color. One finger head that quickly vanishes. Very little lacing.

S: some toffee or burnt caramel. Licorice?

T: Some malt and more toffee or burnt caramel. Hopper than I expected, especially in the finish.

F: towards the end of light bodied.

O: it’s good. Not as heavy on the malt side as others, slightly more bitter hoppy. I’d prefer more malt richness but it’s a decent red ale.

Nice red ale. Pleasant the whole way through! The slightest hoppy tang gave it character, but not so much that it became overwhelming. Would love to try this one again, since there are details I'm forgetting.

Belfast Bay Lobster Ale is a great red copper ale. If you don’t like red ales you won’t like this ale. Please don’t rate ales you don’t really like. Rate ales based on the ale and what it’s supposed to tase like. Thanks.

Skeptical at first but after polishing off a bottle-- actually a nice ale.
It presents a nice hoppy start with a firm but not over powering flavor and a clean finish.
This ale has enough flavor "weight" that gives it larger than average flavor presentation and enough complexity to make it more than a simple hot weather thirst quencher.
Look is that of a reddish/brown with a short lived slight head.
It's really worth a try if you stumble across it.

Pours a reddish copper hue with oatmeal colored head. Some toffee and raisin on the nose. There is a considerable bitter hop character. Some raisin. Some bitter pill character. It's not smooth as it is advertised in the description you can read above. I am not a fan of this beer.
