This follows the textbook style of German brewing. The heavy milk like lace and sun tainted skunk smell is the first thing you get from it. It has somewhat of a cleaner taste then some of the other pilsners Ive had. The beer follows the footsteps of all the others from the region but I get a little more yeast taste from it. The price is cheaper that the others as well. If I was looking for this style, I would probably pick this one up again.

Serving: 16oz can poured into footed pilsener
Served: 16 June 2013
Appearance: When pouring, it looks very light yellow-gold as it's coming out of the can (honestly not very appealing), but when you look at it in the glass, the beer just seems to come to life. Great carbonation bubbling from the bottom into a nice, frothy 2.5 finger head that dies down at a reasonable rate as one drinks the beer. Great clarity, to style.
Smell: Smells clean and fresh, malty with a kiss of hops. Inviting.
Taste: Like the smell, this one is immensely clean and balanced. You can taste the crisp, light malt backbone, and then after swallowing, you can taste the bitterness from the hops. Not much flavor enhancement from the hops, but you can certainly tell they're bittering the beer. I would have liked to see more a more assertive flavor from the hops, though keeping within the general pilsener style.
Mouthfeel: Perfectly carbonated, to style.
Overall: This is a great German pilsener- one that takes malts and hops and balances them nicely. Much better than other 'pilsener' style beers out there, and certainly a nice beer when one is searching for something a little less insane in the malt/hop department.

Pours a clear golden-straw in color, topped with a shock-white head of average duration. Clarity here is as close to brilliant as you can get, hence my higher-than-average score.
Nose is redolent of sweetgrass and honeyish notes, along with a lighter bready, yeasty character and just enough of a whiff* of the bittering hops to remind me that this is a Pilsner.
I gave it a minute or so (and -don't worry!- I'm indoors, in my closet, with the shades pulled in the bedroom and only the illumination of my antique phosphorescent alarm clock, so no skunking is occurring) to warm up and there's more of the bready notes. Wunderbar!
Lightly-sweet, bready/biscuity (although those are two different characteristics, actually), and a bitter, almost brisk character giving way to a bittersweet character near the finish. The long-term, lingering effect is quite "dry". That's dry as in finish and character, not the diatetic "Dry Beer"-kinda dry. Darn, now here's a beer for sipping in the hop gardens of Upper Bavaria or the hip-hop gardens of America's dry and dusty urban cityscape.
In terms of body and mouthfeel, this is a lighter-bodied, VERY easy-drinking beer style, and König Pilsener nails it. For a "cheap, watery German Pilsner" that is really just a shadow of better iterations of the style, this is a brand that can't be beat!
Overall this is a very good beer for the price and general availability, and ought to keep the Bitburger-swillers on both sides of the pond quite happy as it's a mellower brew overall, even if it is a titch more expensive (but let's be honest, these are both very affordable beers in the overall scheme of things.)
*This can is fresh enough (B.B.D.: 11/13-2013), so either my memory of this beer's excellent Hop-forward quality is off (and I had mistakenly-remember Krombacher for this!) or the recipe or hop regimen used has been mellowed, or maybe the hops were just flacid-in-the-Alpha-acids in this batch. Who really knows? Jever this is not at any rate, and it's still a slightly better than average beer for its style. NOW, go getcha some!

A refreshing German Beer. Poured to a classic golden straw hue with perfect clarity. Head developed to a frothy white which laced and lasted. Aroma was of hop, malt and grass. Taste was of malt with hints of hop and grain. Nice full mouthfeel with a clean aftertaste.

Appearance: Poured the bottle into a tall Pilsener glass. Light gold color with plenty of bubbles resulting in a finger of head that disappears quickly -- within 30 seconds. Beautiful and inviting light gold color beer.
Smell: Classic smell of a Pilsener. Beer like, with some smell of straw. Not complex.
Taste: Again, classic Pilsener taste. If you want to understand why when Pilsener were first introduced in Europe they caught on so rapidly, taste this beer. Not complex. A great example of what German Pilseners taste like. Not bitter, not hoppy. Refreshingly delightful.
Mouthfeel: Drink this beer quickly as exposure to air makes it a little bitter...almost flat. This is the only quality of this beer that surprised me a little. To counter it, drink while it is still very cold (assuming it was poured from a cold bottle or otherwise served cold).
Overall: The rock of Gibraltar of Pilsener beers. Smooth, tasty, classic Pilsener taste. Beautiful light gold color. Refreshing. Just drink it quickly...don't linger over it.

Served from a 500ml can to a Konig boot
A: Soapy sudsy head about two fingers. White in color. Left some nice lacing as well. Straw appearance. This beer is almost definitive of what a good pils should look like.
S: Some spicy German hops backed with light crackery malts.
T: Spicy notes provided by the hops are very pleasing. A very slight lemon flavor is also attainable. Bready malts provide for a nice balance to the hops. There's just a touch of caramel malt character as well. Bitterness is mild and appropriate for the style. Very clean tasting and very drinkable.
M: Crisp and refreshing due to the dry finish and nice balance of the beer. It could be quiet easy to drink a few of these. Carbonation is also nicely done and cleans the palate nicely.
O: This was a great beer and very nice for the style. Perfect for the patio on a hot summer day. It had all of the qualities I enjoy in a good pils and it made for an enjoyable experience. I wish this beer was more easily obtainable.

One of the best German Pils brought into the U.S., both on draft and when fresh in bottles. Pours straw/golden with virtually no haze into my 0.5L mug. Glorious carbonation and good size and retention of contrasting white head. Nose is clean, light, lemony, with a whiff of herbal elements. Palate has a great combination of rather clean malty flavors and delightful herbal hoppy flavors to balance things nicely. No skunk. Zero. Finish is more of the herbal hops. Incredibly easy drinking and a great example of the style as far as what we have for options here in the U.S.
