This is Curieux which is aged in a Booker's Bourbon barrel instead of regular Jim Beam barrels.
Pours a cloudy dark golden straw color with a two finger frothy white head that slowly fades into a lasting ring. Spotty lacing left behind.
Sweet bourbon aroma with a really nice barrel character that slightly dominates the nose. Toasted oak, vanilla, coconut and spicy bourbon toasts coal and coconut with subtle triple notes underneath. Estery Belgian yeast, light fruit, peppery spice.
Medium bodied with a slightly boozy bourbon flavor that isn't too hot. The barrel is nicely integrated intothe base beer with dry oak, vanilla and a very strong bourbon character. Nice and spicy with lots of boozy sweetness but not aggressively hot . As it warms, the triple characteristics becomes evident with hints of bready yeast, light fruit and subtle booze. Apple and pear flavor followed by bread, coriander and grassy hops. Really nice and drinks much smoother than expected.
