Poured on-tap at the brewery tasting room, the beer is a vibrant, caramel-brown coloring with a thin, white, filmy surface coating of head. Heart aromas of nut and toffee, with hints of booze and smoke. Flavors of roast and smoke initially, with a nutty sweetness forming a solid backbone. Subtle, tangy sweetness at the end of the palate and into the aftertaste. Smoke rejoins the toffee and nut sweetness in the aftertaste, blending into a smooth, light finish despite the robust palate and body throughout. Easy to drink and pretty damn tasty.

Poured into a pint glass.

A: Hazy red brown with two-finger, off-white, fizzy, foamy head that lasted several minutes and left a nice film. Pretty good lacing.

S: Sweet. Dark fruit. Caramel malt. Belgian yeast and spice.

T: Moderate to high sweetness and light bitterness. Cherries, caramel malt, and Belgian spice.

M: Medium bodied with lively carbonation. Crisp and refreshing.

O: Pretty good, but not the best. I like Ommegang much better.

Good Dubbel. Pours a muddy brown color with a medium size antique white head into my Chimay goblet. The head is well carbonated, delicate bubbles. There are flecks of lacing on the glass. Smell is fairly mild, a little Belgian yeast and some bready malt.

The flavor is the same as the aroma but much more ramped up. A strong malty backbone with very pronounced Belgian yeast presence.

Mouthfeel is rich and smooth as silk. Not much in the way of hops but that is right for the style.

Good one. I could sip on this all night.
