Notes:
Allagash Dubbel boasts a deep red color and a complex malty taste. The finish is dry with subtle hints of chocolate and nuts. The yeast asserts itself by lending a classic Belgian fruitiness.

Poured from a 12oz brown bottle.
Pours a dark deep reddish burgundy color when lit from behind. Not much of a head, probably just a bad pour. There is some rather thick creamy lacing on this one.
There is a slight fruity aroma in this, sort of like raisins. Also some roasted malt aromas as well. I sense a very faint yeast aroma as well.
Taste is pretty good. A bit sweet to start, like brown sugar and raisons, which yields to some malty taste in the middle and a moderately bitter roasted malt hoppy finish. Slight coffee like aftertaste with some sweetness. The sweetness from the sugars seem to linger throughout, but it is not overpowering or anything. Feels pretty creamy in the mouth.
Overall pretty nice. I have always been pleased with Allagash's Belgian style beers.

I poured this yukky beer into my tumbler at 45 degrees. The beer was cloudy, amber in color and poured a nice frothy tan head. The smell was nice whispering notes of creamy caramel and nutty goodness that makes you just want to bite it. Then you drink it and the dream is over. SOUR yuk, SOUR beer. Abbey sourness I can't stand. I will not buy again.
