Located on Paleisstraat, this place is a doddle to find
Visited here 3 or 4 times on my visit, mainly to get stuff to bring home
When you walk in your greeted by the shop assistant and immediately notice the amazing selection of glassware behind, there are a couple of fridges in this area with some nice chilled stuff. Then, up a few steps is beer city, every belgian you can think of and so many dutch beers its unbelievable. Great selection of german beers too, all the best are here plus a few off beat ones. They also have a fair range of english and US beers too, but thats not where this place shines.
Besides the hundreds of small bottles and 750mls this place has lots of 3 litres and magnums, aswell as what appeared to be a 9 litre bottle of st feuillien.
Besides the amazing range of normal belgians is the 'cellar' area, stocking an amazing range of lambics, every cantillon beer (jncluding saint lamvinus which i bought), lindemans, girardin etc, all are present
Prices are fantastic too, saint lamvinus was the most expensive that i bought but of course it always is, was still less than 9 euro though. Small bottles of girardin 1882 gueuze were 1.20, lol, bargain
If you come to amsterdam you have to visit this place, especially if you are planning on bringing alot back, the range is amazing

Tight and cramped, but for a good reason.
Place is jammed with all kinds of goodies.
Oddest thing was the first bottle I saw when I walked in was Kuhnhenn Dark Heathen. Wow! How did that get here? They have other US craft brewers and plenty of good ones.
Obviously they have a great selection of De Molen and Mikkeller. They also have a tiny lower level full of lambics (Cantillon, etc).
Great shop! Super friendly and helpful staff.
Amazing selection of glassware too.
Just wish the place was bigger.

Nice people with a really nice bottle shop. They like to trade. Absolutely the best bottle shop in the city and surrounding area. Good selection of local, Belgian, and American beer. We brought them several barrel aged beers from the Midwest, and we walked away with some really cool stuff. You absolutely MUST visit here if you are a BA user and in Amsterdam.

The wife and I showed up here pretty late on Halloween night in Amsterdam.
Hands down the best bottle shop I have ever been in, not because of their selection, but because of the service. They have a great selection of Dutch beers (obviously) and that was what I was there for. Why would I want anything other than Dutch beers while in The Netherlands?
What sold me on the place was that I walked in and the woman who works there (can't remember her name) asked what style of beers I liked. My answer was followed immediately by her literally running around the store grabbing every single good Dutch beer from the styles I had mentioned. She even took the time to stop and describe each one to my wife and I before she placed it on the section of shelf she had just cleared off specifically as a place to put all the beers for me to choose from. I have never even experienced anything close to this in a bottle shop before. The enthusiasm and commitment to service makes this place my favorite bottle shop of all time. A must visit for anyone in Amsterdam.

Been to Amsterdam twice this year, about 12 days total. Not one went by without a stop at De Bierkoning. Everything from Westy 12, 10 and 8 to a range of Cantillon (scored two 50N/40E there for $30 Euro) and other crucial breweries like Brouwerij de Molen to name a few. Also have an impressive selection of U.S. craft beers, scored a PtE there that was two weeks old. If you are in Amsterdam this is a must.
And once you're done at De Bierkoning hit Beer Temple around the corner.

On a recent trip to Amsterdam I made sure to stop by De Bierkoning and see what all the fuss was about. I was quite happy with my visit. The staff was helpful and talkative, the store was nice and decent sized for European standards (though very small by American ones).
Good selection of great beers. No Westy, though I'm told they occasionally have it. Had a few Russian Rivers (not the the Plinys) but they were in the 30 euro range so I decided to wait until I was in CA again. Good prices on Cantillon (picked up some St. Lumnivous for 13 euro). Much cheaper than I saw in Brussels just a mile or so from the brewery (the brewery was out of SL last few times I went). Trappist beers wee a bit pricey, but that is coming from Belgium. Rochefort 10 for 5 euro or so is somewhat offputting when you can get it for under 2 at most grocery stores across the Belgian border. A good amount of good american beers (Left Hand and Clown Shoes), but kind of pricey, too. Very nice selection of other nationalities (German, UK, etc...).
All in all, a great place to visit in Amsterdam but know the prices before you go in. You might pay more than you need to if you're not careful.
