Consumed July 26th, 2012 in a standard pint glass.
Beer pours a very clear deep cola color. Light gets through easily, resulting in garnet highlights. A moderate pour generates a rocky, off-white two-finger head: think root beer float. Sticky and long-lasting.
This is an aromatic beer; smoky, roasty notes mingle with a rich, bitter nutty smell. Outstanding.
Flavor is fairly mild: a little disappointing after the good looks and wonderful aroma. Restrained toffee gives way to over-roast bitterness on the finish. Carbonation seems to interfere slightly with tasting the malt. Not really bold or complex, but flawless.
Beer has a nice, creamy texture and perhaps too-strong carbonation prickle. Goes down smooth and easy.
Wanted to love this one, but I guess my memory was kind. I have had much better brown ales, though it's important to stress that this one is not at all bad, just a well-done example that sticks to the middle of the road.

A - A very dark brown with mild ruby hues. Head is excellent with a 1/2 inch of tan colored head that sticks around forever.
S - Quite mild but everything I expected is there. Toasted malts, hazelnuts, chocolate malt, brown malts, and a touch of brown sugar.
T - Brown malt and chocolate malt hit first with a bit of toasted bread. Very strong for such a light ABV. I do like how it's not overly sweet with sugar malts making it very drinkable.
M - Medium bodied, somewhat creamy, has a nice bite to it.
Overall a very smooth tasty brown ale with a great session-able ABV and constant flavors.

Picked up a bomber from Total Wine last weekend for $5.99. Nice to see it is being bottled as this was one of the Alesmith brews i wanted to try for a long time now.
Beer poured brown with a nice tan head that is hanging around pretty well.
Nose is malty, earthy, with hints of chocolate.
Taste is well balanced, chocolate malts, hints of molasses, and west coast hops with a dry hop finish.
Mouthfeel is very good for the style, medium bodied and very smooth.
Overall this brew is everything i hoped it would be, a flavorful sessionable brew, perfect for watching a final four game!

22oz: tulip
Pours a dark, mahogany red with a creamy, thick, light tan head.
Toasty, nutty malts. Faint roast coffee.Light cocoa sweetness. Faint earthy hops in the finish.
Medium body, mild foamy carbonation.
A very well crafted English brown ale. Great nut notes blend with more malts and just a faint earthy hop profile.
