Another big milestone, 2500 reviews... and about to take a big trip to China and Belgium so in honor of that as well. Huge thanks to peterdactyl (Reddit) for this one, shared with rudzud.
Pours an awesome looking dark fluffy 1 finger head, great lacing, pitch black with great legs.
Nose is awesome, addicting, great barrel and bourbon, vanilla oak, light coffee, sweet candy like the candy you had as a kid that made your legs buckle, caramel. Vanilla, Belgian choc, rich and heavy overall, slightly earthy mellow smooth coffee, quite nice of... well everything. Amazing nose.
Taste is very good, great flavors ally around. Starting with the dark malts, dark choc and black malt and just a little char, some caramel and creamy choc, light warming booze, thick syrupy dark choc syrup, fluffy nougat as well but super dark. Some barrel, light vanilla toasty barrel. Then some coffee, smooth rich earthy slightly nutty coffee. Finish is great, sweet syrupy thick, rich coffee syrup, dark choc and little char lingering.
Mouth is full bodied, syrupy, decent carb, some warming booze
Overall fantastic. Not aces across the board, but a very well done beer all around. Great coffee and chocolate, nice barrel but I wish the barrel came through a bit more.

Epic thanks to JLindros for sharing this bottle.
A - Poured into a Kate the Great tulip a deep dark black hue with a half inch mocha head that fades to leave a thick halo.
S - Aromas of caramel, vanilla, rich expensive chocolate, rich bourbon, more lighter coffee. Super mellow and smooth.
T - Taste is delicious, but did not give me shaky leg syndrome like Vietnamese speedway did. Similar to the nose with nice caramel, heavy dark chocolate syrup, rich, super rich malts. Nfff nice bourbon notes and subtle coffee alongwith nice vanilla.
M - Mouthfeel is very nice for the ABV. Smooth, slightly boozy. Delicious.
O - Overall this beer was pretty damn good. A damn good beer but not quite at Vietnamese speedway

750ml foiled and capped bottle. 2013 release. Served in my Eclipse snifter.
Very excited to get a hold of this, my first Barrel Aged Alesmith beer.
Pours as black as beer gets with half a finger of mocha colored foam. Settles to a small ring of dense bubbles. A strand or two of lacing is left behind in the glass.
Aroma of everything I look for in a bourbon barrel aged imperial stout. Dusty oak, vanilla, coconut, chocolate, caramel, coffee, and fruit. Complex and stunning. A hint of alcohol sits on top.
Taste begins with some of the aroma's fruit notes, with banana and cherry dominating. Quickly turns to the richer notes, like melted chocolate and vanilla ice cream covered with caramel. A little bit of saltiness at this point as well. Coffee is most present in the finish, with roasty, but very smooth bitterness blending beautifully with all the other elements. Alcohol contributes a noticeable heat as well as a spicy chili pepper note to the flavor. Although again, very well blended.
Full bodied, but quite slick with a medium level of carbonation. Maybe gets a little thick over time, but you expect that with this style.
Overall I'm really loving this beer. Complex and evolving aromas and flavors from all the ingredients, but blended well and playing nicely together.
