Notes:
Lots of hops with a nice malty backbone on this one. It is released twice yearly; once in the Summer and once in the late Fall / early Winter. Winter bottles have green & red ink, Summer is blue & red. There is a variation in the malt bill for each version.

A - Served in a snifter. A good three inches of off white head. The body is golden orange and hazy
S - The aroma is fresh citrus fruits, orange, lemon, light grapefruit. I expected big pine scents since it's a west coast IPA, but it is subtle.
T - The taste is citrus with a nice malt balance. Grapefruit seems to be more present here than in the smell. It finishes with a distinct juniper berry taste. The finish reminds me of gin. It's not that big pine or bitter grapefruit taste. I find it refreshing.
M - Seems perfect for the style.
D - This is a refreshing IPA. The flavors and finish of this beer make it an easy drink. I would definitely have another if I had one on hand.
I was surprised by this beer. Usually, I expect too much out of highly rated beers and am left disappointed. This one deserves its acclaim. Plus, I expected it to be a west coast hop bomb.

Pours clear and sunny, with a bright white head dissipating to a foamy cap. Plenty lacing on the one. Big citrus and pine notes, indicative of a great west coast ipa. It's back by plenty pale malt sweetness and bready notes. Medium bitterness, with more of a citrusy finish, sweet malts, pine and resins, all pretty well balanced. Some hints of alcohol. It's full body, slighty rich and oily, creamy with good carbonation still.
Props to LSUPT!

32 oz "grumbler" gifted to me from my good buddy Greg after the birth of my son. I only had a single pint pour this sitting.
Appearance was a soft orange and completely clear with minimal white head and lacing.
Aroma was intensely resinous and herbal, pine with a very faint apple and citrus (orange/tangerine) scent sneaking in every once in a while. Mostly this was all earthy.
Taste was similar with huge hops. Predominant pine and grass/floral hop. A spicy herbal comination mixed well. Only true citrus I could get was some peach sweetness. Alcohol was a non-factor - didn't notice at all.
Mouthfeel was fairly light to medium body. The start was a slick, OILY light feel that then bit hard with a bittering dryness that sucked any remaining moisture out of your mouth for you to start clean with the next sip.
Overall: not at all the stereotypical west coast DIPA. This is a resinous, floral hop lover's beer. The hops were quite intense. A sipping, puckering beer that had a lot of surprising characteristics.
