Like MikeD said, this place has an amazing beer selection. i couldn't believe it. maybe the largest selection i've ever seen in one place. i also found some really really good deals. they devote more footage to beer than i've ever seen anywhere else. they just have it all. excellent sales as well. definitely worth driving a while to get to if you really are looking for a wide selection.
i didn't see anyone around to help me, but oh well.
i was totally impressed.

Really never noticed the beer selection here at Yankee. I've been going to this place for a while but it was to buy some hard alcohol or guinness. Well I took my time there this past weekend looking through their beer section and I was impressed. This used to be an old Almacs Supermarket transformed into a huge liquor store now. Walk in and the last rows on the left are all beer. A few good belgiums and some other good stuff here and there Rogue, Allagash, Ommegang, Magic Hat, Sam Smith and the ever so elusive Stone. I will be hitting this store everytime I'm in RI so just about everyother weekend. Check it out if you can.

This used to be my favorite liquor /beer store. But there has been a recent change in management here. The foucus of the new management is away from the beer and more to the wine. In previous years in the first week of Dec they would have a free beer tasting at which patrons were given rating sheets. With which they were to rate their favorite beers at the tasting. Then after the tasting the votes were tallyed and the winner would be on special discount for the rest of the month. No beer tasting this year, Bah Humbug! Also the personnel that worked the beer aisle were knoledgeable about the beer and/or had a keen interest in the beers. Now the beer aisle workers neither know or care about beer. The selection is still great, but as far as getting info on a certian beer you might as well be in 7-Eleven.
Note I am editing this on 11-24-04 the previous rating of service of 1.5 was changed this day.
They have hired a beer guy for three days a week. His name is Ray. you can find him there Mon., Wed. and Sat. He is a homebrewer knows good beer. He has been instrumental in increasing the presence of Belgian beers in the store. So next time you are here talk to Ray and let him know what you can or can not get at other stores.

Yankee spirits is admittedly a bit on the run down side of the spectrum, which might be why they can afford to consistently have good deals on lots of beer. The selection is very wide and prices are reasonable. They do have some old stuff on the shelves, and they're not always consistent with marking it down to get it out the door.
You can buy singles, but there's no mix-a-six policy, which would be nice.
Service is about what you'd expect. Cashiers are not unfriendly but not full of irrepressible joy.

Quite an impressive selection. They have a lot of things that I cannot even get in Rhode Island. Such as Rouge, Stone, and Victory. Great selection of Belgian ales & German lagers, as well. Just about everything is available as singles! Most prices seem fairly reasonable. I'll definitely be going back.

Went here for the first time a couple of days ago. This store is not a big as Julio's or Luke's in Rockland, but is bigger than most other stores I have explored in the state. I loved how they had full lines of several different breweries. I was impressed with the huge amount of domestic offerings. They had an extensive collection of brews from New England. Some of the stock I could not find in my area of Massachusetts. Everything was fairly organized. I did not call over any beer manager, but this was more warehouse style. Prices were a little more expensive than what I find over here, but not overly so. I would stop here again on my way to Providence.

Doesn't look like much from the outside but this place actually has a very nice selection of brews. Lots of 30s and 12s of average stuff but there is one side of an aisle in the left part of the store full of goodies. Stone, Thomas Hooker, Anderson Valley, Great Divide, Avery, North Coast, Victory, DFH, Ommegang, Unibroue, Rochefort, de Ranke, etc, etc, etc...
Service is great, but its hit or miss. If you're lucky you'll run into the beer guy who is very helpful. If you don't, you'll be staring at the great wall o' beer foreer making your decision. Come to think of it, you'll be doing that anyways...
First time in here I remember remarking about the fair prices too. The quality is decent - some beers are nice and fresh while others are seriously out of date so just keep that in mind.
Overall, nice big selection and reasonable prices keep me coming back for more. I always end up leaving with a few bags.

Wow, what a huge selection. This place is the size of a supermarket and 1/4 of it for just beer. Great selection in the coolers and even better on the shelves. Lots of great local New England beers as well as stuff from all over the US. Plenty of choices from Europe and the rest of the Globe too. Well worth the 20 minute drive. Very good selection of singles as well as sixpacks. Prices are probably the best in the area. Nice people and good knowledge of beer. Plus a HUGE wine and liquor selection. Great place to shop for your next party.
This is my new beer store.

This definitely has the old supermarket feel as it used to be one. Has one of the hugest selections of beer(wine & liquor too) in the local area. This is one of main stops for beer as it's hard to beat the selection. Although they don't overtly advertise(I think they should) you can buy singles of craft beers. Service I've gotten has been friendly. If a beer snob can't find something here then they have a problem not the store. The only demerit would be the constant clash and bang of the recycling machines which are adjacent(walled off but not sound proofed) to the beer isle which can get annoying. On related note if you plan to recycle can's and bottles beware that recycling corner is loud, crowded and reeks of stale beer. This part of store really needs some attention as it keeps it from being a really super place.

Went to yankee a few weels ago, not knowing what to expect. was very surprised at what i saw. a pretty good selection of not only regional , but some national breweries. was very surprised to see the stone oaked arrogant bastard ale, and plenty of them in stock. plenty of moylans beers, and a wide selection of belgians and brits as well. would definatley recomend this store to a friend. reasonable prices, not a far drive and great selection make it worth the trip. i'm going to try to hit up the yankee spirits in sturbridge , mass too as soon as i can.
