12 oz bottle. no bottled on date. into tulip.
A: bright brownish/red. very clear. just wish the head was bigger to start as well as hung around for a bit.
S: aroma is a mash up of american hops and caramel smells. maybe a little bit of green apple? maybe just me...
T: there is an assertive hop bitterness throughout the drink. almost too much. it seems like the malt is struggling to find its place in this brew. finish has even more of a healthy dose of bitterness in it. i like hops, i like bitter, but this body needs some balance.
M: carbonation is low. too low. this brew should have a bit more fizz. light/medium body.
D: certainly drinkable, but not really seek-worthy in my opinion. there a lot of negatives i am finding and in a world filled with some rocking red ales i would pick another up.

Bright copper orange with a very sticky off white head. Tons a great lacing.
Smells of piney hops and caramel malts straight away. Touch of citric bitterness in there. A sweet sticky bun note is mixed in there as well.
Taste is balanced with the piney hop and slight citric notes. The malty caramel and oats come in as soon as the hop notes recede. There's a burnt sugar note on the backend. It's a little light in body.
Mouthfeel is light and mildly carbonated. Feels like it could be a touch more round.
Overall this is a good red ale, and one that could be session able. It won't weigh you down but also won't overwhelm your taste. I would definitely try this again, only maybe in bottle form out of curiosity.

Bought 2 cases after my local distributor had these onsale a few weeks back. First, I noted that on the label this beer proclaims to be a "hoppy red ale". By today's standards, it's not all that hoppy. Sure it has some hop nose to it, but it's pretty tame it terms of today's hop forward ales. With that aside, it's a solid beer all around. The malt bill is very well put together. It has some nice bready & light toasted character. Has a wonderful versatility to it that pairs well with almost any food. Had this one with steak, grilled pork, chicken, salmon, etc. This one holds up well to just about anything.
As I mentioned, the hops are pretty tame and they lend themselves a nice spicy character. The beer feels medium-full and is nicely carbonated. Brewed pretty clean with no apparent off-flavors. Overall, a very solid beer. Enjoy it as a nice solid red ale and don't be too letdown by a lack of insane hoppiness.

A - Slightly more than a fingers worthy of airy moderately fluffy whimsical off-white colored head with a slight pinkish hue... Excellent retention... The color is a pale cranberry red with some amber undertones mixed in... Loaded with swirling small bubbled carbonation that starts a bit sluggish and finishes at a fairly quick pace...
S - Loaded with sweet caramel notes... Desert like breads... Bread pudding... Some light and delicate sweet cherry notes... A bit of overly ripened dark fruit... Not much at all in the way of hop presence...
T - After the overly sweet malt nose, the hop bite at the forefront is a bit of a surprise... A biting bitter character mixes amidst all of the sweetness expected and alluded to by the nose... Sweet fruits... Heavy bready malts... Caramel... However, the moderate hop bitterness is pervasive throughout... The deep finish even has a light woody character... Very interesting and fairly complex...
M - Medium bodied... Stern carbonation... Slightly sleek... Clean and crisp... Even and consistent...
D - A very nice American Red Ale... The nose is overly sweet, but there is great balance and complexity on the palate... Easy drinking and loaded with character... Honestly, I'm a bit surprised by ratings that I don't think accurately reflect what an excellent brew this is... I would gladly drink again and recommend to those seeking an interesting everyday brew...

Poured from a 12 oz bottle, no date.
A beautiful red body (would expect no less). 1/2 finger of tan colored head, dissipated quickly left no lacing in the glass. Had to swirl the glass a few times to revive it.
Smells very malty, not what I expected with the promise of a "Hoppy Red Ale" on the label. Picking up on a little floral hop notes: piney
Caramel malts up front, fizzy carbonation in the middel and a bitter finish. After a few minutes it's almost like an unsweetened iced tea flavor that lingers. Strange, not off putting, just....strange.
Not a bad brew, just would really have liked a little more floral hops to add to the aroma and a little less bitterness in the flavor and it would really be fantastic. I really wanted it to be more than it was, especially being from PA.

First had: on tap at Stoudts
Reddish amber pour, with a lasting off-white head that left lots of lacing on the glass. Aroma of toasted caramel malts and floral / piney hops. This beer seems to get a low rating, so I'm guessing it doesn't keep as good in bottles, but on tap at the source, I didn't really have a problem with it. Tasted of toasted grains, biscuity caramel malts, floral and piney hops with a good bitter bite. Light-medium body and easily drinkable. Nothing groundbreaking here, but it's a basic and solid red ale overall.

Bought a 12 oz bottle as part of a mixed 6-pack.
A: Pours a red-copper color, crystal clear with a thick long lasting white head.
S: Hops, citrus hops, caramel malt
T: The taste follows the smell. Very hoppy with out a bitter aftertaste. The hops are balanced by a malt sweetness.
M: Light bodied and refreshing. Very smooth
O: A very hoppy example of amber ale, but very likeable. I will buy again.
