Stoudt's Gold. The name says it all in appearance. Poured into a Stella Artois chalice glass, the egg white head slides down to a steady rim. Fairly translucent body. Both floral and fruity hops up front. Clean light grains in the middle; biscuity. A bit of booze. Bright notes in the nose.
The Nutty/roasted malts melody is both tasty and non-lingering. Flash of bittering hops is well received. Spicy/peppery hops flavor is very subtle, but a nice touch.
This brew is an excellent example of a light style of beer, not to be confused with America's incessant deference to diet beer. Flavor, character, aroma and ceaseless drinkability is exemplified by this one! Top notch.

This beer when poured into a pint glass, has a nice straw yellow body with a nice white creamy 1" head that hangs around for a while. The smell is grains coming through in the smell. The taste is a little fruity with some grains coming through, The mouth feel is crisp and clean well carbonated with small bubbles. Overall this is a good drinkable lager.

Straw very light golden yellow, very clear light in color, a fluffy good creamy and puffy white head, leaving a good thick fluffy and sticky white lacing.Very bubbly, sparkly bubbles rise up like champagne.
A nice clean nose of grains, light barley/malt, super crispness and a refreshing very faint hops and carbonation. What a good lager should be.
Crisp, clean and refreshing mouth, with light notes of grains, light malt. No hop notes to speak of here. This is a lager, after all. Not very exciting, but what lager is?? Speaking of German lagers, this does not quite come close to a good German lager, let alone pilsener.
Overall, a good if just another bland and boring lager. Certainly miles better than the mass-produced BMC swills of the world, but those wanting more flavor and substance should look elsewhere. Victory's Prima Pils is a lot better than this.

Appearance is gold and clear, nice. Smell is none eventfull, there is a slight fruity aroma. Mouthfeel is clean and sits well in the mouth. This brew feels good on the tongue. Taste smooth refreshing lager with no bit upfront or in the back. Nothing special, overall, quite uneventful but it is refreshing. Not the best we have had, not fridge worthy.

Pours a clear golden yellow color with a thick crop of foamy white head. Retains for a bit before leaving patchy lacing on the glass.
Biscuit malts in the nose with faint hoppy spice. Light sweetness and herbal tones.
Soft hops mix with biscuit and bready tones. Mild malt backbone with light sweetness. Citrus peel with a touch of lemon. Finishes crisp and refreshing.
Lighter medium body, decent carbonation, tingly and brisk on the palate. A refreshing lager with a pretty streamlined flavor - something I'd probably drink again.

Stoudts Gold has a sweet, biscuity, clean aroma and a slightly hazy (sediment at the bottom of the bottle) golden appearance, with lots of streaming bubbles but zero lace and a super-thin, white head. The taste is of sweet, lightly-roasted barley malt and a little zing of hops at the end of the sip. This beer is very nicely balanced, and the mouthfeel is light and watery. Stoudts Gold finishes crisp, clean, refreshing, and easy drinking. Overall, this is an excellent beer, and I strongly recommend it.

A: Golden yellow. White 2 finger head. Good carbonation.
S: Nothing really except slight bready/pretzely vibe. Faint maybe czech/noble hops. No fruitiness.
T: Malty, slight fruity and crisp/clean.
M: Thin and carbonated.
O: This would be an anytime session beer but its not all that impressive. Due to the style which isn't bold.
*Paired with Sesame BBQ chicken and twice baked potato with cheddar, broccoli and bacon.

Pours a fairly clear gold with a wispy white head.
Cracker bready malt that I associate with the style in the aroma.
Starts out with a crisp cracker taste. Rounds into a little bit of sweetness in the aftertaste. Spicy noble hop presence throughout more in the beginning of the palate. A little tangy finish.
Medium mouthfeel and good carbonation.
Nothing bad about this one, but nothing overly great either.

12oz bottle from the clearance table: best by...2/5/08!?!? Let's see what a 4year old Helles tastes like.
A: Cloudy pale orange body with a solid one-finger cap of dense off-white head. Nice retention and lace. Solid, but greater clarity would have been nice.
S: Wow - I was not expecting such rich, oxidized maltiness (well, oxidation yes, richness no. There's bread, caramel, sherry, and raisins. Strange and enjoyable.
T: Sweet malt opens things up, followed by sherry, a touch of cardboard, and some borderline-rancid fruit. The age is a bit less delightful here, but it's by no means undrinkable. I kind of like it, actually.
M: Lively medium body. Very nice.
O: I expected this to be laughably bad, but it really wasn't. Obviously a well-made beer. If it weren't so expensive normally, I wouldn't have waited for it to be on clearance.
Cheers!

Poured this into a standard pint glass from a 12 oz. bottle.
Appearance: Pours a light-golden yellow hue, with a half-finger head that quickly dissipates into nothingness. No lacing is left. Not impressed.
Smell: Smells of malts and hops, maybe a little bit bready? I also catch perhaps a hint of citrus.
Taste: Wow, the taste really changed my mind about how horrible this beer might be. You can taste the malts and hops, as well as the citrus backbone. All of these flavors, however, are intertwined very well and just mingle perfectly. The flavors burst into your mouth at first, and then subtly mingle in the aftertaste. Delicious.
Mouthfeel: Medium bodied and medium carbonation, crisp finish. A definite drinkability candidate.
Overall: Do not judge a book by its cover, or a beer by its appearance. While this beer pours out looking horrible, and smelling average, the taste and overall refreshment factor makes it a very nice beer.

Poured 12oz bottle into Ballast Point Pint glass.
A- Pours golden, straw color. White head with little lace left on the glass. Slight haze to it.
S- Sweet aromas to this beer. A little bready, maybe subtle hop smells at the end.
T- Like the nose, starts with sweet malts up front. Bitterness starts to creep in at the middle. Some floral, grassy hop flavors in the background and hold up the bitterness for a bit. Ends on the sweeter side, maybe some bready malt flavors too.
M- Light body, moderate carbonation. Crisp in the mouth.
O- Easy drinker, crisp, bit refreshing. Not as bad as I was expecting. Not my favorite style, but still not bad.

Second Stoudts of the night and I love a good helles lager.
A - Golden hue in color with a bit of haze. Poured a bit aggressive and got a half inch of white foamy head. Again settles to a fine lace ring with sticky goodness.
S - Slight bit of grain, touch of hops, and some lager yeast.
T - Comes off sweet with sort of a touch of wheat and grain. Moves to a bit of bitter hops and again finishes sweet and balanced. Almost has a sweet apple tone to it.
M - A very nice light to medium body. Easy drinkin'
Overall I liked this offering and kudos to being PA brewed. Light, toasty with a touch of hops and sweetness make a good brew.

A: Pours a clear, light golden color with a one finger white head upon pouring. The head quickly reduced to a very thin layer of white on top. Sheets of thin lacing remain on part of the glass.
S: Light malt and grain, a little bit of grassy hop, and some spice. There is a little bit of apple that comes through.
T: Slight bready flavor, but rather light, with a little bit of spice and some grainy malt. Slightly sweet on the finish and a mild hop presence.
M: Light to medium bodied with medium carbonation. Drinks crisp and clean, goes down easy.
O: Easy drinking, could relax with this beer on a hot day for sure. Would be a good sessionable beer. Flavor is solid, despite being a lighter beer.

Served in a standard shaker pint glass. Glass of cold water on the side to sip from periodically.
Appearance: As served the beer is a rich golden amber color with a ½” thick smooth, finely bubbled off-white head that begins to recede visibly but leaves a bit of lacing, a nice ring around the glass and a thin layer of foam on the liquid. Sipping leaves some scattered lacing and for most of the beer there is a ring of foam and some speckled lacing.
Smell: The aroma is filled with a nice bready malt and an underlying touch of floral hops.
Taste: The flavors are clean and crisp and include lightly sweet and bready malt with a background or undertone of earthy bitterness. The blending is subtle and inviting.
Mouthfeel: The mouth feel is medium bodied and nicely smooth with on going light carbonation. The finish is on the long side of medium and starts in the sweetness of the malt and gradually transition to a lightly bitter dryness that invites the next sip.
Drinkability and Overall Impression: I have had this beer several times before and, as in the past, I found this one quite drinkable. One sip follows easily from the last and invites the next. I could have more than one of this and find it a nice beer for an evening including dinner and a good conversation with friends. My overall impression is that this is a first rate example of the style and once again Stoudt’s has displayed their mastery of German style beers.

Aroma is pretty light, but what's there is a wet grain, somewhat vegetal aroma. But again, not too much on the nose.
Taste is rather clean as well, starting off a little cereal grainy with the predominant tastes on the body of this beer being a bit of sweet malt with a decent dose of biscuit. In fact, I'd say this beer is more biscuit-y than anything. Somewhat of a surprise for the style, actually.
It's very drinkable and smooth, but also isn't all that remarkable. While the tasting notes surprised me for the style, they still do taste good.

12oz bottle with "Best By 12/29/11" stamped on the bottle.
Pours golden in color as promised. It does have an orange hue to it as well. Good clarity with an ever-so-slight haze. One finger of white foam settled to a thin lace rather quickly. Minimal head retention.
Smell very clean aroma consisting of fresh baked biscuits and grain.
Very light on the palate with some mild hops and bready malts up front. That classic Lager smoothness rounds things out on the back end making for a crisp and refreshing finish.
A good helles overall. This has summer beer written all over it.
Morey's Bottom Line: If you're looking for something on the lighter side, Stoudts Gold might just be your beer. Perfect for summer days like this one (90 degrees)!

Brillantly clear golden straw colored beer.
The white frothy head pours about a finger or so.
Carbonation, I'd say is about average with big slow rising bubbles.
Aroma is light being a lager and all but there is a nice malty backbone here.
Taste is of sweet malts. There are hints of toasted grains like in a vienna style.
Also finishes with a grain or ceral taste.
Medium body with a smooth and slightly dry finish.
I like this beer becaue it's light and refreshing and has a pleasent finish.
A good fall yard work beer I think.

Poured into a shaker pint, arriving in the glass crisp and lightly honeyed with a minimal bone colored head. Not much to speak of lace... but damn that translucent gold forebodes an inviting sense of refreshment.
Smells like raw sugarcane and warming flour.
Clean and zippy up front with a bit of lemony biscuit that rolls through the mouth. Opens and growns soft towards the back of the throat, becoming slightly sugary wheat-like. But turns quickly into a bitterish, bubbling finish in the throat. It's that carbonation that makes the beer... present throughout and playing well with the balanced brew. Lightly bodied and zippy and totally refreshing.
Helles lagers aren't my first thought for a refreshing beer but Stoudt's Gold is a great candidate to change my mind.

Poured from a 12 fl oz bottle into a pint glass. Best before date illegible. Munich style helles.
Appearance: Pours a beautiful yellow golden with a thick white head. Fluffy traces of lacing. What a beer should look like!
Smell: Metallic grassy hop notes of a Euro lager. Smells very rich.
Taste: Outstanding! Very bready and biscuity. Slightly sweet malt. As full flavored a lager as you will ever find.
Mouthfeel: Appropriately thick and satisfying with the slightest biscuit aftertaste. It tastes like liquid bread!
Overall: I have been looking forward to sampling this for awhile and I am not the least bit disappointed. If not for price and availability, this would be my daily drinker!

Poured into a beer mug. It had a hazy yellow color with a nice size head. It smelled of honey, grain, malt. It tasted of slight wheat, honey, and a lemon citrus finish. It was a light beer, definitely refreshing. Overall all I have to say is yikes, BA members, your palate is really bad including the bros. there is nothing German about this beer, there is nothing "Helles Lager" stylish about this beer. Spicy hop Bitterness is no wheres to be found.

Bottle poured into a pint glass.
A: A deep rich gold color that developed a decent head. The head lingered for quite a while and left minimal lacing.
S: Malty sweetness with a slight fruit/floral aroma.
T: The taste is malty sweetness that is well balanced by the hops. There is a slight fruity taste that develops right as you swallow and a wonderful light bitter aftertaste ensues.
M: The MF is nice on this one. Very clean and crisp and refreshing. It isn't too watery either.
O: A damn fine lager. Stoudt's is a brewery worth checking out.

pours yellow/gold(go figure) hue... whispy light head and it doesn't last long, but has some lacing...
smell is rosey, flowery, with lemon.
similar in taste with a little earthy grain and a near dortmunder bitter bite after the sweet start. Tart. Very tasty. Good beer!

It is slightly sweet with mostly husky grain and pale malt, some breadiness, and hints of lemon and sulfur. Very clean and straightforward. Beauty in simplicity.
It is light and bubbly. Very crisp with clean bready grain that transitions to a hint of lemon from the hops then a quick, snappy slightly bitter and earthy finish. Definitely Noble hops if I’ve ever tasted ‘em.
