Presentation: 12 oz brown twist off long neck bottle with no freshness date.
Appearance: Pale yellowish golden with a nice frothy white head that leaves uneven rings of lace down the glass.
Smell: Suggestions of nutmeg and white pepper from a spicy hop and hints of raw honey from the malt make up the aroma.
Taste: Strong armed crispness washes over the palate with a thick malty and grainy flavour. Medium bodied. Malt is a touch toasted with a cracker like flavour, hops do a good job at balancing and leave a faded herbal flavour throughout. A ghost like grape flavour suggests the use of Munich malt and a faint alcohol jumps in at the end give some notice. Long flavourful lightly toasted grain flavour extends far into the finish.
Notes: This one is a bit in the raw and lovely at that. There are lagers then there are great ones and this is one of the great ones. Seek this one out, I’d have to have it say it is a must try if you like Munich style lagers.

I used to drive to the brewery to grab kegs of this as well as the Honer Double Mai Bock and the Honey Double Bock.
To me this was one of the best American made German style Gold lagers.
The contract brewed 12oz bottles were good, but nowhere near as good as the barrel from the brewery.
Remember 2 prong kegs?
I will miss you Caroll and Ed!

Poured from the bottle into a nonic pint.
A: fluffy white head settles into 1 mm ring. Minimal lacing.
S: Not strong in any way. Gentle. Light earthiness, hint of herbal, citric noble style hops. Malt is also light bready note.
T: Subtle earty hops, light mixed berry notes, super light bready malt note.
M: Starts off light medium, grows to medium the ends with a creaminesss then a hair bit of dry chalkiness then a slight bitterness and a super light slickness.
O: pretty drinkable, more interesting than AAL yet equally as sessionable as any of those.
