12oz bottle into a pint glass. Stoudts usually has bottling dates on the neck, but I didn't see one here.
A - Pours a slightly hazy light golden color with a 1 finger white head which quickly fades to a rim. A little lacing. Very bubbly.
S - The nose is dominated by hops with aromas of orange and grapefruit. The hops give off a subtle, floral and citrusy bouquet. Slight maltiness, but not too much going on.
T - The bitterness bites you with a twinge up front. Reminds me more of what I'd expect from an IPA than an APA. The taste is largely bready pale malts with biting citrusy hops. The finish is crisp and clean with a slight lingering bitterness.
M - Light body, almost medium. High carbonation, almost too much at times.
D - It's a fairly easy drinking brew, but an average one at that. Nothing really seemed to shine here.

Appearance is light golden amber with about two fingers of white head and good lacing very mild carbonation
Smell is very hoppy good aromas of flowerycitrus hops no real strong malt notes shine through
Taste is clean and a little bitter sweet with good body and full flavors
Mouthfee/drinkablity overall this beer has good drinkablity not my favorite but worth trying compares to serria Nevada pale ale. This is worth trying if you like american pale ales

This was really drinkable. Pours a light pale yellow, decent head, some lacing. Smells clean, the wheat and other grains are evident. Tastes very much the same. Wheat and some floral hops but the mouthfeel is spot on and makes this a crisp and refreshing APA. This was really enjoyable.

An excellent "American Pale Ale"!
Lots of western hops in aroma, taste and finish - tons of flavour, beuatifully balanced, and all that accomplished at 5% ABV. I've heard that it's not possible to get flavour at low alcohol, but this batch certainly proves otherwise. I look forward to trying any future batches I can get my hands on!

12oz from a mixed 6-pack, poured into a tulip pint
Picked this up as part of a mix and match 6-pack at Wegman's, and plenty glad I did. American Pale Ales are not my thing, but this one stood up pretty well. Attempting to put aside my dislike for them in general and give a review compared to what it's trying to be ...
L: Light yellow and clear but a touch cloudy (my pour is a touch cold), with a dollop of soapy white head. Great lacing with huge foam clumps clingingto the glass.
S: Corn sweetness with a goodly amount of hops, crisp and simple without much depth.
T: Just like it smells, corny, wheaty and hoppy, until the finish where some subtle floral notes kick in, and linger with a crispness.
F: Light, effervescent, crisp and clean. Everything an APA should be, really.
D: Worthy of the flag on the label! Seriously though, pretty good for what it is.

Golden beer almost amber, hazy. Nice size foamy head propped up by a hardy carbonation.
Dry malt aroma similar to a pils, slightly hopped.
Dry malty bill with hints of being toasted. Biscuits and butter are in there too.
Balance hop taste but not over powering.
Medium body beer that's nicely balanced.
I think in my view of APA's this should be a little more hopped up.
Drink well my friends.

The beer looks like it first went through the toaster and then was frozen; its orange colour is crispy and heated but its complexion is chilly and icy. That haze does little to hinder the bright shimmer but adds apparent texture to it. The bubbles, meanwhile, aloofly flutter about; their obvious apathy leads to a head that is dopey and limp (and wouldn't last).
What makes a beer "American"? For starters, a lot of hops. In that regard, this does indeed smell "American". It has traces of pine serum and pink grapefruit, both lathered in a gooey caramel coating. A strong impression of toasted malts mellows out much of the citric and piny characteristics of the hops but they manage quite capably to be noticed nevertheless.
What else makes a beer "American"? How about a brazen, brassy attitude. A beer that doesn't tickle the taste buds but smack them upside the head. The kind of beer that doesn't turn its music's deafening bass down when it stops at a red light. The kind of beer that radiates confidence in everything it does. Indeed, this makes concessions for no one.
Especially not those drinkers who are put-off by too much bitterness, flavour or character in their beers. A lot of people think of American beer as watery, insipid swill - Stoudts American Pale with its firm, chunky toasty maltiness, underlying caramel sweetness and the stinging, citric hops is the nemesis to all that. And the enemy to mine enemy is my friend.
This kind of jazzy, hoppy, confident ale is emblematic of how the Americans like to brew their beers. In fact, it's so American that it hates the French. All this assertive, self-assured flavour is exactly why American beer is so charming, and this level of quality and craftsmanship is exactly why its microbreweries have been so successful.

Poured into a tulip, there is nice head which thinned out quickly. Color was a pure amber, not too dark, but very deep amber color - fairly transparent.
Both the smell and taste were less than I expected. There is a definite brightness to the taste and some grassy flavor in the background.
Tastes very nice in the mouth; just the right balance of elements, but the mouthfeel stands out a bit with the lack of flavor.
Definitely a very drinkable beer.

Served from a bottle into a standard pint glass
A. light amber colour, thin dissapating head with a tiny bit of cling to it.
S. Good balance of malty and piney smells, with the latter winning out
T. The malt wins out when it comes to taste, but is still well proportioned to the light piney hop action
M. This beer seems like it should be thin from its colour, but thicker from its smell and taste, maybe I'm imagining things but this beer seems to get thinner as you get towards the bottom. Slightly less than moderate carbonation.
D. definitely a session beer, very drinkable.
Overall not my favorite of the style but a solid offering from one of my favorite local breweries.

Typical amber color, but the taste is balanced for a APA. Had good flavor that isn't similar to others.
Color is good and within style.
Mouthfeel is not bitter or hopped excessively. A good balanced beer.
Drinkability is good for a Sunday football session for sure!

Pours a light amber color with a small amount of white fluffy head.
The scent is of toasted caramel malts and some citrus.
The taste was of citrus first, then toasted malts, light bitter hop taste.
Light bodied, smooth and a little creamy, perfect carbonation.
This is an average pale ale all around, very easy to drink but nothing special. I wouldn't mind having it again but I wouldn't necessarily look for it.

Poured into a standard pint glass, presents with thin white head on the top, but laces and clings the glass. Color is a translucent copper with light effervescence.
Smell is very good, nice piney hop notes with solid malt finish, not overpowering but all the right notes.
Taste is a little thinner than the scent, with not a strong hop presence but a solid amber malt flavor, a bit earthy.
Mouthfeel is a bit biting on the tongue and cheeks, but the flavors cover well.
Just a touch off my type of APA, could use a bit more hop and malt taste, but decently drinkable.

I picked up a sixer of Stoudt`s APA from Stew Leonards.
The appearance is a yellow / light copper color with a small head. Smell is faint, but pleasant, basis scent of a good pale ale. It tastes of more of what you may expect, malt, some hops, a faint spice, all done properly in a good balance. Appropriate carbonation level, clean, semi-dry aftertaste. Drinkability is solid on this offering from Stoudt`s. It is a very good session beer and worth your time if you have not yet enjoyed it.

This pale ale pours a golden amber with an off white head that fizzes to a thin collar. Smells of of grapefruit and pine with a slight waft of fresh bread.
The hops don't follow through in the taste as strong as they had in the nose leaving only a whimper of piney hops in the semi-dry finish. Malts provide little character and only serve to balance the hops. Mouthfeel is somewhat thin and understated. Fairly drinkable brew that is neither stellar nor off putting. A good beer to bring to a summer BBQ or while hanging out with the guys.

Bottle to pint glass.
A: The pour produces a 2 finger head of white foam with above average retention. The body is exceptionally clear, light copper orange in color. Lacing is between fair and good with drooping semi sheets half way around the glass.
S: Very toasty malt aroma of caramel and grain. Above average maltiness (Two-row, Munich & Caramel) with an average amount of hops (Cascade & Warrior) showcasing grapefruit, pine and resin aromas.
T: Brown sugar comes through as well as ints of honey, rasin and apple. Lightly sweet and lightly bitter.
M: Medium body with an oily texture. Average fizziness with a finish that is chalky and mildly bitter.
D: Nothing in this brew stands out to a significant degree. Very safe and easy to drink. I wouldn't mind being offered another but I won't be purchasing any for myself.

Light copper color with a thin head that disappears quickly. Perfect clarity. A swirl of the glass wakes up the carbonation to create a foamy white cap. Light hoppy aroma, mostly orange, with a hint of biscuit. Smooth, buttery feel with pleasant carbonation. Pretty hoppy for a pale ale. Citrus orange flavor followed by a malty/bready flavor. Finishes with a metallic taste along with lingering hop flavor.

A nice orangeish yellow beer with a thick white head. Smell is a bit like wheat and honey. Alot of honey in the taste too. Compared to some APAs this one carries a great deal more sweet ness. Smooth on the tongue with the bubbles being sort of sudsy. Its about as drinkable as APAs go

Bottle into Sam Adams Sensory glass.
Pours crystal clear bright copper color, a bit on the light side, with a fantastic two-finger off-white head that has great retention and leaves fantastic lacing. Could do with just a bit of haze in my book, but an excellent-looking beer any way you look at it.
Nose has a nice, bready caramel sweetness to it complemented by a light citrusy hop nose, a bit soapy. Very restrained.
Taste is remarkably clean, no real bite to it at all. Hops come off as soapy, especially as the beer warms, a bit of citrus underneath, very mild bitterness, over a pale malt sweetness that's light and a bit grainy. Rather off-putting soapiness.
Mouthfeel is medium bodied, creamy even, with a smooth carbonation. A bit astringent and drying towards the finish.
Drinkability is hurt primarily by the odd hop character. May have to check the bottle to find out when this one came in, though Stoudt's haven't been in the TN market really long enough for their beer to have already gone bad, unless it came in already old. May have to investigate.

a: nice little off-white head, light amber in color, average retention
s: citrusy and young pine hops supported on a pale malt body, doesn't put much out there but it's certainly well constructed
m: carbonation just under medium, lighter in body and perhaps just a bit thin for my preference
t: simple but good, pale malts with only the lightest dose of caramel and a moderate citric hop profile with brushes of pine, finishing with a balanced bitterness
d: no problems here, very satisfying with a great balance and dry, hoppy finish

Stoudt's American Pale Ale is a crystal clear golden ale with a soft, dense, slightly yellowed white head that leaves thick sheets of lacing on the glass. It has a fresh, hoppy aroma with notes of grapefruit, pine and grass. It's medium-light bodied and very smooth with a crisp, dry finish. It has a simple, satisfying taste: grapefruit and pine with a crackery malt underneath. It's lightly bitter from start to finish. It was the perfect choice for mowing the lawn.

Pours a mild clear coppper/orange not really cloudy at all.
Thin average head dissipates to lace that lingers for the entire serving.
Great carbonation.
Average pale ale flowery hoppiness.
I don't pick up any really sweet notes but it does have some nice mellow spice notes.
Substantial body that pairs with spicy food very well but even at only 5% I wouldn't call this a session beer.

A: Pours a large head that rises up quickly and fades quickly, reaching about 2.5 fingers and almost over the sides of my tulip glass. It's a super clear golden orange wheat color.
N: Lighter than I was expecting. Light hops, some grassy and spicy, hint of citrus, as well as a pungent musty resinous fresh hop aroma. A very slight chewy hop aroma too.
T: Starts with a nice hop flavor, some chewy hops, slight oily feel and fresh musty hop resin as well on the taste. A touch of citrus and pine, but not much. A slight creamy malt taste also strikes through, but the beer def plays down the malt side. A decent bitterness, also quelled a bit. Semi dry, with mostly a clean and crisp tasting ale.
M: Lighter body, very slight hop oils, with good carbonation.
F: Finishes with a long bitter taste, that builds and culminates right after the swallow. It gets pretty dry too that goes with the bitterness. A creamy malt taste also lingers with the hops. The hops continue with that fresh resinous hop flavor, with a touch of pine.
My thoughts on this one, the beer is a decent drinkable summer pale, with some extra bitterness giving it that American Pale tag, but I didn't like the way the hops played. They toned way up on the musty resinous hops, which are OK, but any of the really tasty hop flavors are just toned so far down they are drowned out by the resins. This would be a B+ if it added a little more depth in flavors to the hops.

Poured into a mug.
Massive off-white head that leaves nice sticky lacing, sitting atop a deep golden orange colored brew. The head fades to a chunky island...
Smells of biscut, light citrus and some herbal hops...
Tastes of mild herbal, grassy hops with nice bitters up front. Biscuty malt sweetness is well balanced in the end.
Good feel, light-medium, good carbonation with little to no discernable alcohol presence.
This is a great summer brew - can't imagine anyone objecting to this. Easily could go through a bunch of these with friends on a hot day...ahhh, summer...
