12 oz bottle poured into a Duvel tulip.
Pours a cloudy dark orange/brown color with a finger of foam that fades very slowly. Aroma is very phenolic - the belgian yeast dominates the nose.
First sip is very spicy. Yeasty flavor is out of control. Finishes sharply bitter. I don't get much malt presence, as it is overwhelmed by the phenolic flavor and bitter bite. There is also a slightly metallic twang in the flavor.
I usually like the beers that Weyerbacher puts out, but unfortunately, this one is a total miss for me. I don't prefer the phenolic yeasty flavors in general, and this one dials it up a few notches.
