Overall impression is this is a great winter ale...
The appearance is a reddish, blackish - but transparent, like a tinted windor... how'd they do that? It is carbonated well, like a crackling fire... pours a shallow off-white head
Smell is chocolaty... and nutty.
Taste - still nutty. crisp taste - not heavy as expected... hints of smokey, woody flavors - has the appeal of a coffee porter...
Mouthfeel is average.
Drinkability - great as a nightcap. After a meal, with friends, or even to eat with cake.... but don't skip the milk.

Beside a fire on Christmas night.
A - Poured out a murky, copper color with a one-finger, off-white head of foam. It left some sudsy trails of lace on the glass.
S - It smelled of bacon and other smoked meats. Some caramel, too.
T - It tasted fairly smokey, but not overdone. Good roastiness with just a touch of sweet caramel.
M - It was crisp, sharp and smooth. A medium bodied ale with a dry finish.
O - This is a nice smoked beer. Anther good brew from Weyerbacher.

I poured this beer into a pint glass, it has a rich brownish color body and no head or lace to it. The smell has a aroma of dark fruits and a little smokeyness to it. The taste is of like tart dark fruits with some sweetness to it. The smokeyness comes on the back of tongue, it isn't very strong but just there to let you know its there. The mouth feel is good and overall this is a ok beer. I would not buy this again.

I poured this nice beer into my tumbler at 45 degrees. The beer was kinda coke (brown) colored. It poured a beautiful tan head unfortunately though it went away really fast. There was a hint of smoke in the smell and the taste but it was not too powerful. The beer has a tiny bit of a sweet finish but not too bad. I would buy this beer again for sure.

Poured from a 12 ouncer into a pint glass.
Pours dark brown with some reddish tints - not much foam to speak of. Subtle smokiness in a malty nose. Some burnt embers. Taste is sweet - caramel, maltiness, plus liquid smoke that evolves into a medium firm hop. Nice bite at the close that brings it all together. Smoky. (I know, right?)

A - dark amber with a soft, short layer of off white head that has decent retention
S - sweet, baked apples; some caramel
T - baked apple, smoke, earthy woody
M - medium bodied, smooth, well carbonated
I'm not a big fan of this one. It comes across as a Dubbel with a huge smoky presence. The malt and smoke are at odds. There is little balance. I won't pick this up again.

Pours dark mahogany with a dense ivory head that settles to a thick cap, leaving behind streaky lacing. Sweet and malty aromas of baked bread, caramel, brown sugar, and just a touch of meaty smoke. Taste is similarly malt-forward, with notes of chocolate, caramel, toffee, and more mild smokiness. I'd definitely like to see the smoke amped up a bit, but not too bad overall. Mouthfeel is smooth and creamy, with a medium-full body and good carbonation. Pretty decent beer overall, but gimme more smoke!
