From notes:
Pours pitch black and almost completely opaque with only the slightest of mahogany tint when held to a light source. 1.5 finger frothy coffee colored head that has great retention, only slowly fading into a lasting ring that leaves streaks of lacing behind.
Spicy aroma with hints of roasted malt, gingerbread, chocolate, ginger, nut and chocolate.
Lighter end of medium bodied with a very prominent spice flavor that kind of overpowers the rest of the flavors. Slightly roasty with hints of toast, gingerbread, cinnamon and cookie. Think liquid ginger snap.
Unique but slightly watered down and gimmicky. I'm glad I got to try it but I wouldn't purchase it again.

thick black, opague oil like liquid. A nice small tan colored head was present at the start, which hung around for a decent amount of time.
coffee and chocolate tones set the stage here. Hints of french vanilla and sugar swirled around and really gave this a nice robust dessert like feel.very frothy and creamy like a milkshake. Great consistency. Big flavors of roasted dark chocolate and coffee. Big suprise was the huge hop presence here. Very dry hoppy finish, but also in the taste. Hints of pine and orange were definatly present and made this a very intresting brew to say the least. Could not really tell which was more dominant, but both were very welcome.
Awesome, is the only word that comes to mind.

Thanks for sharing this one, Bobby.
A: Pours a very dark brown color with a finger of off-white/tan head.
S: Fairly chocolatey on the nose with plenty of roasted malts and a bit of licorice, mild raisin notes as well. Maybe a hint of peat/smoke. Definitely a spice note to it, perhaps some cinnamon.
T: Things are very much the same on the palate. A touch of smoke, cinnamon, and dark chocolate. Roasted malt and a touch of coffee. There isn't all that much fruit to it like there was on the nose, but there is a bit of leather to it.
M: Medium in body with a moderate carbonation and a smooth feel on the tongue.
O: Nothing really stood out about this beer. It wasn't bad, but it didn't really have any flavors that I felt were all that great.

Bottle. Nearly black pour with tan, fizzy head that sticks around for a while. Smell is sweet and roasty. Taste is sweet with a little bit of chocolate. Finish is a little more bitter than I would have liked. Body is very smooth, just enough carbonation. Very drinkable beer.

A-Deep, dark blackish brown with a thin tan head that reduced to a thin veil and left no lacing.
S-Interesting aroma similar to a fancy spiced coffee concoction. Fresh ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg and a touch of chocolate and roasted malt.
T-Zingy fresh spices with nice backing roasted malt and a touch of earthy hops. A gingerbread cookie in a glass.
M-Medium bodied and fairly robust without being overly heavy. Good lingering spice and roasted malt flavours.
D-Good stuff and unique. A gingerbread spiced stout...and it works.

Poured an almost black muddy ruby brown into my glass with a one inch mocha head. The ginger root is most dominant in the nose upfront with the molasses taking a back seat. Not my favorite smell but interesting. The ginger and molasses seem to fight each other a little in the taste, it's not the perfect blend. But again it is interesting, especially for a stout. Medium body with decent mouthfeel/drinkability. Overall I would say this beer isn't really good or bad, just interesting enough to try. May be better with some age on it.

Thanks goes out to mikereaser for this brew.
Pours a dark brown color, nice carbonation, nice one-finger creamy tan head, with some sticky lacing left behind. The nose is malty, with some ginger, cinnamon, chocolate/toffee. The taste is slightly sweet, malty, with some spices, chocolate/toffee. Medium body, this is a totally different Imperial Stout, I'm not sure what it is. Drinkable, not bad.

Received this one in a trade from ericwo. What a damn good surprise.
This one pours a beautiful black, not as viscous as a stout, but the tan head does resemble one. Looks very inviting.
Smell and taste were very unexpected. I was expecting more spice and phenols but what I smell and tasted was distinct molasses, raisins, and flambee-style fruit scents and tastes. The taste also has a smoky lingering aftertaste.
Coats the tongue a bit and provides a carbonation bite 3/4 of the way through. I wish I had another one of these. It would be great to see this in local beer stores. Recommended.

12oz bottle thanks to a couple of generous traders.
Pours dark, dark brown with a small tan head that stays on as a small cap and leaves decent lacing.
The aroma really caught me off guard and I really don't know how to categorize it. It's dominated by the ginger which melds interestingly with the sweetish chocolate malts underneath. Very interesting nose.
The taste actually follows the nose which means to say that there are lots of very different tastes to take it. There is certainly a bit of the underlying dark malts and chocolate but the ginger really throws the taste buds for a loop and the finish is spicy and sweet.
The mouthfeel is medium bodied (light if you actually think this is an impy stout) with good carbonation.
This is certainly an interesting attempt by Weyerbacher and while I'm not sure everything comes together perfectly, I always love to try something this original. Marks for creativity here.

Thanks to Ev, "blitheringidiot" for this one.
This beer pours a dark cola color with a slight cherry creeping through. The head is a film of pale tan with a raised collar.
Smells of ginger and coriander stacked around a campfire and marshmallow smokey, milk chocolate stout.
Starts with an obnoxious sting of some odd herb that derails this ride from the word "go." Behind this strange cake frosting, burnt coffee, ginger is a light coffee and toasty malt backed by a firm barley sweetness.
Feels quite thick and intrusive with a loose carbonation.
An unique attempt that I should be more generous with. Perhaps age will reveal something different, but as it stands, it's just a little to eclectic and busy for my liking.

A - Large and lively caramel colored head... Good head retention... Very dark brown color, teetering on black... Completely opaque... Burgundy highlights were noted during the pour...
S - Roasted malt... Chocolate... Coffee... The ginger is noticeable, but is neither overpowering or off putting... Other spicy notes, possibly nutmeg or cinnamon were also detected... The interplay between the sweet and spicy make for a complex and enjoyable aroma...
T - Quite the unique taste experience... Starts out as your traditional stout... Roasted Malt... Dark Chocolate... Faint hint of coffee... Then the ginger and cinnamon rises to the forefront confuses the taste buds... I'm impressed with the creativity, but not sure it necessarily equates to impressive taste...
M - Textbook stout mouthfeel... Medium to full bodied... Chewy... Sleek and smooth... Cinnamon aftertaste lingers...
D - I love creativity in brewing and this is an excellent example... I'm just not sure that the introduction of ginger adds anything other than novelty to this beer... It looks great, smells good, and feels good, but the taste of the ginger ditracts from both the taste and overall experience... I would urge Weyerbacher to continue with the "Brewer's Select Series" because I love the originality of the brews, this one just wasn't a my cup of tea (beer)...

12 oz bottle poured into a mexican tulip - Fridge temp - 2008
Appearance: A vigorous pour gives a pitch black beer with a 4" light brown head. It shows great retention. Spidery lace is spread all over the glass.
Smell: Toasted coconut, barley and well...toast. Almond and brown sugar. Not very sweet at all.
Taste: Pinchy burst of snickers, leather and coffee fire away at my tastebuds. Spicy with cinnamon, and now, after being in the bottle for a couple months, the ginger snaps pretty nicely. Not very sweet, as a lot of Weyerbacher beers can be.
Mouthfeel: Medium body, moderate spice, not much sugar and a little bit of booze in the finish. Not too bad.
Drinkability: This is a solid beer. The spice combination is kind of awkward, but original. I could, and have had a few in one sitting. Worth trying.

Thanks to beerisheaven & sholland119, two of BAs finest, for each shipping me a bottle of Delta. Any day I can sip a Weyerbacher is a good day; any day I can try a new one is fantastic.
This baby is black. End of story. It's also one of the rare beers that I can smell immediately after the cap comes off, as the odor comes surging out of the bottle & into my nose hairs. Spices dominate.
This is a tough beer to pin down. Points are awarded for complexity & originality, but I keep getting different tastes with each sip. Chocolate? Coffee? OK, spices, definitely, but which ones? There's a lot going on in here. As it warms it seems to morph almost by the minute. The spices recede into the background.
Just a touch thin for a double, but that's picking nits amongst the chaos. Definitely not a drinker, this Delta, what with its spicy qualities.
I can't wax as ecstatic over Delta as most of the Weyerbacher offerings, but still a very good beer.

Poured into Weyerbacher Cuvee
Appearance: Dark black with brownish head which dissipates quickly.
Smell: Molasses and malt mostly. A bit of the cinnamon/ginger that the label claims, but not much.
Taste: A ton of sweetness hits first, clearly the molasses. Finishes with the ginger/cinnamon combo strongly.
Mouthfeel: Medium to heavy
Drinkability: Pretty tough to throw back more than a couple of these, definitely wears on you pretty quickly.
Notes: These Brewer's Select beers from Weyerbacher tend to really explode with flavor, sometimes over doing it. This will at least show you what a brewer can do to a beer.
