I was expecting more of an Octoberfest ale taste (per the name "Harvest Ale"); instead I got a surprising IPA hop kick. It does say brewed with fresh hops - still seems too bright for a "harvest" ale - BUT what the heck, I'm a hop-head and my favorite style is American Double IPA so I give a big 'bottoms up' on this one.

A- Brilliant clear fall harvest orange hue. Nice white head that fades rather quickly and leaves a ton of spider-web lacing all over the glass.
S- Fruity citrus and pine! More sweet maltiness than I would expect from an IPA. Picking up the yeasty notes underneath the grapefruit, orange peel and wet hay.
T- Very bitter! Lots of tropical citrus and piney hop punch. Nice underlying hints of sweet malts. Caramel, licorice, bitter tangerine peel, lemons, and pine sap.
M- Very bitter on the tongue. It almost strips away everything else. Very little maltiness lies underneath. Not very well balanced.
O- Worth trying once, but I probably wouldn't seek this one out again. The citrus doesn't pop enough, and the malts don't carry thru very well.
