Notes:
This beer is retired; no longer brewed.
Brewed with barley, raw wheat and raw oats as per tradition. Hopped with Styrian Goldings for bitter, and Saaz for aroma. Fermented with a very special Belgian yeast strain. No spices; it's all from the yeast.

Light orange colored ale. Sour fruit, corn and polish dominate the poorly concentrated nose. Flavor is better than the nose, but still shows no finesse, no balance, is overly sweet and polish-like and has poor muddled flavors and poorly hidden alcohol. WTF.

light peach colored amber and a huge white head that reached nearly two inches high an never really relented leaving a ton of lacing on the sides.
aroma is very light, pears and apples, touches of banana, clove, hints of grain, but light, almost non existent at points. flavor was about the same, very light, but nice, lots of light fruits, tons of grain and a definte yeast presence that seemed to build over time. just seemed to need that one last pop to push it into the excellent category. still super sessionable and really a nice way to get the afterparty going.

Had a bottle of Weyerbacher Muse back in November of 2008. This farmhouse ale poured out as a hazy orange yellow brew that had a pretty strong head on it. The smell of the beer wasn't overly
Funky like most saisons or farmhouse ales. Instead it had some nice floral aromas coming out of it and some hops too. The taste was nice also, the malts and hops mixed with some wild flowers worked pretty well together. Mouthfeel of Muse was really carbonated, I was impressed on how this beer kind of exploded in your mouth with each sip. This ale wasn't bad but I can understand how it was bummed to the retired section when it has to compete with some of Weyerbachers other beers.

22 oz Bomber
Appearance: Cloudy, yeast sedmiment. Soapy head, alittle bit of lace.
Smell: Alittle funky, cheesey, barnyard. Interesting aroma. Citrus tang smell, almost like a lemon peel. This beer has no spices added, so alot of yeast making up for a spicy nose.
Taste: Mellow flavors of citrus and earth. Wheat malt flavor. Raw wheat malt almost confusing me with yeast flavors. Almost tastes like sweet straw. Musty basement. Grassy bitterness. Alright but not the most pleasing.
Mouthfeel: Medium bodied, chalky finish.
Drinkability: Interesting mix of flavors, rather raw but true to style. Not the most appetizing but glad I got to try it.
They brewed this beer true to style and purpose, and the true farmhouse enthusiast will appreciate. I found it to be rather decent.

A: The beer is clear golden yellow in color and has a light to moderate amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a small head that quickly dissipated leaving a ring of bubbles around the edge of the glass and lacy patterns of bubbles floating in the center.
S: The smell is somewhat musty and has aromas of pepper. Notes of apples and other fruits become evident as the beer begins to warm up.
T: Like the smell, the overall taste is earthy, musty, spicy and has a slight amount of sourness. There are flavors of apples and spices.
M: It feels light- to medium-bodied and somewhat crisp on the palate with a low to moderate amount of carbonation. There is a bit of dryness in the finish.
D: The taste was interesting and rather unique for the style but I don't think this beer would be well suited for drinking on a hot summer day.

Review from BeerAdvocate Magazine July 2007.
Fermented with Forbidden Fruit yeast at a high tem- perature. Hopped with Styrian Goldings and Saaz--they took an authentic path, to be sure. Word of warning: Serve this beer at cellar temperature.
A steady decanting yields enough white head to almost spill out of the glass; a rich rocky head slowly subsides to a patch trail of lace. Hazed tawny color, to be expected of the style. Musty aroma; more basement than barnyard in the nose and very yeasty in the back, with both medicinal phenols and fruity esters. It's a yeast explosion to start with, and a medicinal phenolic character is not too far off, either. Thankfully, they get balanced off by a dry malt flavor, slightly tropical fruity esters and a faint hop smack.
With its over-the-top with flavor, this one will certainly be hard to grasp for the novice beer drinker--especially anyone with no knowledge of Belgian ales. That said, if you dig Fantôme, you will love this beer. We may as well chalk this one up to being this year's most complex American-brewed Belgian-style ale. Baked brie cheese with a blackberry filling would be a good, taming accompaniment.

Thanks to jjayjaye & AgeofQuarrel for both sending me bottles of this...about one day apart. This bomber has been hiding in the back of the fridge ever since, & since July is official beer-clearing month, this is part of the underbrush that gets eliminated. Much more fun than taming the back 40, though.
Pours a clear, clean Florida orange with tints of beermail yellow (I left the last four fingers of shtuff in the bottle). Still kicking after a good amount of time waiting. Smell is sparse; vague citrus, alcohol, Lemon Pledge, an aimless sweetness.
Muse is only a distant relative of most saisons, perhaps its closest ancestor is CynicAle. This is a sweet, light, fruit basket minus anything that's darker than an apple. Yeast imparts the mildest of farmy zing, but more lemon tart than anything else. Flare of wheat in the aftertaste, which tames the candy & turns it even further into summer. One thing you can say for it, this is a drinker, there will be no nursing half of this bomber for a full hour.
Good beer. Charming in its own way, but closer to a heady, heavier wheat beer than a saison (not that I care). To be consumed when the sun is high & your energy level is not. Hammock beer, for sure.

poured from a 22oz bomber into my Ithaca Tulip. I'm looking forward to this, as there are not always that many saisons available
A- pours a hazy orange with a frothy off white head that dresses the sides of the glass. The foam is as thick as whipped cream
S- I do like the strong scent of yeast, sweet grapes, and musty scents. It's almost wine like. There is a "zing" of citrus and lemons. I really like this style
T- some apples, pears, prunes... very fruity. There is some warming with the brew that creates some flavor in the brew. Still musty and dry is the primary taste... as well as the saison lift of lemons. The dry grape flavor creates the ties to a wine in my opinion
M- light in the mouth. Also not much for carbonation
D- Muse goes down easy and is very drinkable. The mustisness of the brew doesn't make it the most enjoyable. I know that is the style, however I have had some better saisons than this. I still can slam some bombers of this for spring time mowing. Not bad at all

Pours hazy cider gold with 1-finger head. No retention nor lacing. Nice color, though.
Yeast, musky fruit, and rich bread dominate a very strong nose. You pick up the aromas while your face is still severl inches from the glass.
Much sweeter hit than from other Saisons I've tried in the last few months. Pears, cherries, and grapes all there. Only tart in the finish instead of the intense sour I'm used to. Pick up a little sourness at the very end, but tart overshadows.
Feel seems about right. Slighty syrupy.
Easiest to drink of the Saisons in my recent memory. The tart finish really brings this one up in my book.
