Poured from 750 ml bottle into snifter glass

Appearance – Pours a lightly hazed ruby-brown color. The off-white head upon pouring has only a light retention. The fast fading head, when gone, leaves a persistent foam film on the surface of the brew.

Smell – The smell is heavy of dark fruits of cherry and prune. Other sweet aromas of a caramel nature mare also mixed within. A bourbon-boozy smell with accents of vanilla and oak are there as well and when mixed with the sweeter smells create a warming sweet smell.

Taste – A sweet caramel taste is big up front, but soon melds with a good dose of dark fruits. The cherry and plum flavors soon begin overwhelming the caramel. Around the same time a yeasty spice and boozy taste starts to enter the tongue. The yeast spice flavor remains relatively light through the rest of the taste but the alcohol gets stronger. A bourbon and almost rum like flavor get big, where some lighter notes of vanilla and a oak come to the tongue as well. In the end a warming rum and bourbon soaked dark fruit flavor are left on the tongue.

Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is thick and creamy. It is very smooth feeling on the tongue, allowing the flavors of a sweet and boozy nature to soak in; taking these tastes to their maximum. The lighter carbonation level only accentuates the smooth body helping to create this creamy thick brew.

Overall –A wonderful sipper with some big flavor. Sit, sip, chat with a good pal, and enjoy. It’s delicious.

A: Dark mahogany brown with a gorgeous, bready, thick head and okay lacing

S: Sweet caramel malts with lots of dark fruits and some boozy whiskey and oak undertones

T: Very balanced, big, boozy beer; sweet up front but balanced by a dry slightly bitter finish: the bready malts and dark fruits play well of of each other (cherries, dates, raisins, plums)

F: Quite creamy; medium body

O: A boozy but not overpowering beer--I wish there was more of a barrel presence but it's a really nice beer nonetheless
