Purchased a 4pk at Wegmans in Warrington, PA.
Purchase price: $10.99
Enjoyed in a DFH Signature Glass
A - Pours a rather opaque, hazy, deep honey color. There was a one finger, beige colored head with the initial pour that lasts a few minutes then fades to a thin film on top of the beer. Decent lacing on the side of the glass.
S - A very hoppy smell combined with floral and pine notes.
T - An extremely bitter beer. From what I've read, I would assume that the Simcoe hops are the the reason for the bitterness. There are hints of citrus but not as much in some other DIPAs I've had. There is a slight spiciness to it also. The beer has a decent malt backbone but could have benefited with a bit more sweetness to balance out the bitterness. The alcohol is noticeable but not overly so.
M - A medium carbonated beer. The hops leave a rather bitter aftertaste after drinking.
D - A decent beer that is slightly unbalanced. I liked the beer but it is more on the bitter side for a DIPA than I prefer. A slightly heavier beer with a 9% ABV combine to make this a one or two a night beer.
Overall: Weyerbacher has some really good beers and even though this one was a bit bitter for my taste, I still enjoyed it. If you like a DIPA that is hop forward, this is your beer.
Cheers!

Served in a pint glass from a 750, which was consumed by me :-)
Appearance - murky and very coppery, but it is unfiltered, so it looks great. Pretty solid head all the way through, even after drinking and second pouring. Takes a while for the head to dissipate.
Smell - nice and hoppy with some citrus, malt, and possibly some hints of sweetness like honey.
Taste - solid taste, nice and strong with the hops, but not over the top (even though that is okay), a bit malty and sweet, but well put together.
Mouthfeel - like I expect from a double, unfiltered, IIPA. Nice and piney with a mild bite on the front of the tongue and it lingers for a bit.
Overall - great beer and it was enjoyed all the way through.

Appears a bright golden orange, cloudy with a one finger eggshell white head. Smell hits with some pine and tropical fruits. There's a pine cone and earthy sap like scent in there as well. Reminds me of that fresh Christmas tree scent. Taste hits with the earthy peppery bitter piney hops. Lots of grapefruit that leads into some nice rye like bread. Aftertaste lets the sweet burnt brown sugar malt notes come through. I can taste some of the warmth from the alcohol which kind of detracts for me. Mouthfeel is great, medium to moderate carbonation helps out with the viscus sticky nature of this beer. It's almost feels like its sticking to your tongue and letting the flavors come through.
Overall this is a fantastic DIPA, and one of my favorite Weyerbacher beers. It's a great focus on a great hop that ends up being very flavorful. I would have rated this even better if it weren't for a slight bit of the abv showing through.

750 ml unfiltered
S: Mango fruitiness, some hoppy resin, prominent pine with some juniper complementing.
L: Hazy light brown, light tan head with 3/4 inch retention, amazing retention.
T: Fruity hoppiness, tangerine and grapefruit mostly. Sweet, slightly malty backbone. Medium high piney bitterness with some additional caramal sweetness. Finishes piney hoppiness with some residual caramalness.
M: Medium full body and carbonation. Alcohol slightly warming.
Not as good as i remember, not sure how fresh this was either. But not bad either, nice showcase of Simcoe, i just wish the beer and the maltiness wasn't so distracting.
