It's taken me awhile to finally stop here. It is a long way from anyplace that I visit in the KC area, but it was certainly worth the trip. They have a fairly large selection of beer. Some that I hadn't seen at other locations in KC. Nice selection of Belgians and other high quality imports. They had a tiny mix a six section that really didn't have many great finds. They do have a big selection of singles in larger formats. Nice organization of the American craft brews. Things were very easy to find. Service was neither good nor bad. It was about 5 minutes after they opened on a Sunday morning. All in all, they have a good variety of good beers at reasonable prices. Worth a stop if you're on the south side of Kansas City,

The guys at Gomers South have always been great to work with, always are helpful and friendly. On some of the special releases that have came out they have been very helpful in holding a bottle or a sixer for me. They always seem to be stocked up on most everything and compared to a lot of other places in town they have a superb selection. I understand that just a few weeks ago they added some more space/shelfing for their beer selection, which hopefully means there will be even more of a selection now, looking forward to checking the new setup out. This particular location is a little far of a drive from where I live but whenever I am in south kc I always make an attempt to stop at Gomers South.

Gomer's South has a very large selection of Missouri's finest beers. They get the occasional rare gem, as often as any store in KC, but mostly this place offers a great selection of shelf beer with good prices and good service. If you are south in KC this place will have anything that you might need. They are also part of the Gomer's chain of stores so if they don't have it, you can check if any of the other 4 have what you are looking for. Like most places the majority of the store space is wine but there is some knowledgeable beer people and if you are looking for some wine they have great people for that also.

Hit these guys on the way into town. Nothing super rare in offer, sigh.
Quality all sampled brews seemed good
Great service, very friendly & helpful
Selection wise they had a much better selection of Bells, Founders, Southern Tier & Arcadia than we get in Joplin, although I saw some brands were not stocked there but not enough that I would mind trading selections
Some prices were a touch high I thought, a case of various bells beers & 5 bombers ran me $90ish
Would hit this again if in there area, fairly easy to get to off of 71....

Stopped into Gomer's during a recent trip to KC. American craft beers were pretty well represented and it seemed like the imports took a bit of a backseat. I was a bit bummed out by the feeble selection from Bell's and Founders, I ended up leaving without any of either and still managed to spend over $100. Plenty of Schlafly and other regional favorites. Service was ok, left me alone to browse the shelves and answered the few questions I did have. Most of the beers seemed pretty fresh from the stamps I looked at. I would stop in here again next time I am in town, but also would check out Lukas and Royal as they are fairly close by.

South of downtown KC (15 minutes or so?) Booze, wine and beer readily available, this place also has cheese, hot and BBQ sauces available. The beer is to your left as you enter and there is plenty ot choose from...expect all the local goodies, you know you cant get enough of those tasty smokestack series offerings! As well as a mess of other quality locals, regionals , nationals. The also have respectable collections of the B/B/G/J imports. Nice place, you will find quality BA worthy beer in high supply at this Gomer's.

I was in KCMO for the weekend and while visiting Boulevard asked some of the locals where to go to buy beer. They suggested Gomer's Midtown (which wasn't far from the brewery), so I went there first, then went to this Gomer's.
This Gomer's had a much better beer selection though both were fairly similar. This one had the entire set of Boulevard Smokestacks; Midtown just had the recently released Imperial Stout. Not sure if this means Midtown rotates stock more or just has less stuff.
Anyway, staff was friendly but somewhat indifferent. They saw me grabbing the Smokestacks and informed me the Imperial was squirreled away somewhere else and brought one out for me to buy.
Beyond Boulevard, they had a full complement of Southern Tier (at least a couple I haven't been able to find in Minnesota), Schaflys, a full set of Ridgeways (eg the Bad Elf series) and a few Colorado beers. Nothing overwhelming but I was able to get some stuff I can't get up north.
Prices were very reasonable, about the same as what I pay back home. Definately worth a visit if you are in the area.
Note: I drove by the place the first time, their signage completely sucks as you get off the interstate.

My wife and I stopped in here on a recent trip to KC to check things out and get some Boulevard Smokestack series. As we walked a through the store we were pleasantly surprised at how the non-refrigerated beer section did not have any florescent lights on in the area. This is big to me. I can't recall how many places I've been that beer stock sits for long periods of time under florescent lighting and gets skunky. Either the manager or owner (I couldn't tell which he was) chatted with us briefly and when he figured out our level of beer knowledge, politely left us to peruse their selections.
While some of the reviews here have been somewhat negative, I, being from out of town, had a positive experience.

I go to this Gomers location every once in a while when I'm looking for something that had been in the area a while ago but is sold out pretty much everywhere. That's really the best part about this Gomers. Their stock doesn't move as much as some of the other larger liquor stores in the KC metro area. I was able to find a bottle of La Folie about 6 months after it made its yearly limited run in KC. The bottle was just stuck in a corner in the cooler. The service is about nil. Unless you go out of your way to walk up to the counter and ask a question, no one will ask if you need anything. And if you do ask a question they don't necessarily have an answer for you. As with all the Gomers, it's always reasonable. They don't jack up their prices like some area chain liquor stores.

Pretty decent place. Nothing overwhelming, and I don't think I found a single beer here that I didn't find elsewhere. However, although a bit cluttered I found I liked the feeling that a gem count be hidden anywhere in here. Prices weren't out of line with anything else around town.
Service was nonexistent, but they were friendly at least. I don't know if I'll be back as Royal and Lukas are nearby and both are superior in selection (though Gomer's has Royal beat on quality), but if I was in the area or heard they had something I wanted I wouldn't hesitate to head back here.
