2012 Bottle from the brewery. Poured in to brandy snifter.

A - Very dark amber colour; somewhat murky. One finger of thick cream coloured head formed and receded to a small layer.

S - Big oak aroma up front that gives way to some floral hop aromas and some sweetness from the malts that doesn't have a lot of specific character to it. Not getting whiskey at all. Very little character.

T - Oak up front that gives way to an overall sweetness from the malts and maybe some brown sugar flavours. No whiskey at all. The base beer is barely discernible. All I get here is oak and some general sweetness.

M - Medium body with moderate carbonation.

O - This is a poor effort from Cameron's who seem to be doing some good things lately. Hopefully they will revisit the base beer in this one for the next release.

Appearance: It has a nice murky amber/brown color to it. It has a nice off-white head that dies down moderately fast and leaves nice lacing.

Smell: The aromas definitly give out hints of whiskey, caramel, dark fruit and some oak.

Taste: Like the aromas, it has a dark fruit sourness with some caramel and whiskey.

Mouthfeel: It has a low carbonation with a somewhat light and watery overall balance and feel.

Drinkability: It's a very smooth drinkable beer accompanied with decent flavors and aromas.

Bottle into snifter. American Whiskey (Jack Daniel's Barrel)
Special thanks to TheSevenDuffs for this one.

A- Dark, murky, cola pour with a half finger sticky, soapy off white head. Leaves a fair bit of chunky lacing around the glass.

S- First thing you get is the sour mash from the whiskey, a lot of char and a little bit of oak. There is a leather and tobacco floating around somewhere in there. The least typical barrel aged beer I've ever smelt. Typically you get a sweet stone fruit smell but you don't get that with this. There is a touch of apple and grape but mostly it's the sour mash from the whiskey that dominates everything.

T- Grape skins, apples and a bombardment of sour mash again. It's not as bad as I was expecting, it's just completely different. Slight vanilla, definite char and leather. There is a touch of sweetness in the finish of brown sugar and caramel but you really need to go looking for it.

M- Thin bodied, decent carbonation, quick finish.

O- When I think of whiskey barrel beers my mind automatically goes to peat flavors. This is a nice change, the sour mash from the whiskey adds a lightness to it. Consider it a Berliner Weissbier mixed with a bottle of Fred

Bottle shared by Jon, 750ml into some tulips. Part of their 'Oak Aged Series,' I'm guessing this is the first in the series, aged in a Jack Daniel's cask in a 150 bottle release.

Poured a dark brown, with a thin tan collar and some bubbles. Translucent body. Nose has some whiskey and charred notes, sweet with a touch of booze. Palate has more whiskey, water, and some slight char. Nothing else really going on, the cask seems to have destroyed whatever was in here before the barrel aging. Mouthfeel is watery and thin, almost like watered down whiskey. Little character to speak of all around, and I'm not sure what happened with this one. Thin and underwhelming, but at least they're trying (right?). Thanks Jon for bring this out.

Oaky aroma, Light brown coloured body and lots of foam. Lots of caramel, their regular dark ale with some sugar bumping up the alcohol. More oakey than sweet. Not very inetresting or drinkability. Somewaht of a disapointment for an oak aged beverage.Jon Graham's bomber.
