Appearance- Pours a light copper with a half finger of bubbly white head.

Smell- wheat, toasted grains, caramalts.

Taste- The taste is predominately the same as the aroma. Finishes with a buttery taste.

Mouthfeel- Medium bodied with light carbonation. A tad watery.

Overall- An agreeable wheat lager by Big Rock. The overall taste is played safe by using simple flavours that work together.

Pours a one finger white head that disappears real quick. No lacing. Golden amber colored body.

Grainy, malty aroma with a bit of funk to it. Slight grassy hop smell.

Grainy, some caramel malt, low hop bitterness on the tongue. Leaves a semi dry, sweet aftertaste.

Pretty watery, and bit too much carbonation.

Not my favorite style, but this doesn't seem to have much going on.

341ml bottle poured into pint glass 2/11/11

A clear pale copper with lots of large fast bubbles but just a noisy fizzy finger of foam that's gone in seconds and leaves nothing behind

S floral toffee with some cardboard and soggy cereal and sour fruit, not as bad as it sounds but not all that great either

T tastes a little better, the grains aren't soggy, the fruits not sour and no cardboard, I'm still not blown away but the flavors better then the nose

M a little thin and the big airy bubbles quickly flattens out and leaves a slick foam full of air

O a little boring and uninspiring, I'd assume the wheat would provide some head and retention but not so much, pretty average stuff

I'm not really sure why a mixed 6er from Big Rock cost 16$ or why I bought it for that matter. This is not worthy of a brewmasters special release, underwhelming brew and way overpriced

Another full British pint at the Empress, a pleasantly surprising find on-tap, until careful consideration of the tied-house concept so obviously in play here.

This beer appears a clear, dark bronzed amber hue, with one skinny finger of thin, foamy, off-white head, which leaves nothing beyond a few random specks of lace around the glass as it quickly hies it out of existence.

It smells of mildly sweet, grainy wheat malt, an unexpected, lowkey biscuit character, some muddled orchard fruit, and soft earthy, weedy hops. The taste is semi-sweet bready malt, a softly astringent wheat addendum, weakly apparent apple and underripe pear fruit esters, and dead leaf, weedy hops.

The bubbles are pretty frizzy, for the most part, but not egregiously so, the body a nearly sturdy medium weight, and smooth with a slight metallic edge taking its pound of flesh. It finishes just barely off-dry, the edgy wheat character no match for the gravitas of the lingering muffled fruity and underwelmingly bitter earthiness offset.

An adequate blend of wheat and lager, though neither of these constituent ingredients really make for any proverbial hay. A huge step up from Grasshopper, this much is true, but the extra weight does not necessarily confer anything beyond a general uptick in overall appreciation, unfortunately.
