500ml bottle served in a Weizen glass. Bottle conditioned. Poured a hazy gold with three fingers of white head. Lots of carbonation per style. Nice mix of clove and banana in the aroma. Medium bodied with a smooth mouthfeel. Good and spicy with clove in the finish. Alcohol is well hidden. Very easy drinking for the ABV. Classic rendition of a Weizenbock.

Bottle purchased from Sherlock's in Decatur, GA.
Pours a hazy orange-yellow color with a giant white head. The head eventually dissipates into a thin layer on top leaving solid lacing.
Smells of bubblegum, bananas, and clove, in that order. As it warms a clean sweet wheat flavor takes the place of the bubblegum and the banana aromas fade a bit.
Tastes good. Banana and cloves kick things off and are backed by a solid amount of sweetness. The ending is crisp and leaves hints of bananas lingering on the palate. The alcohol is hardly noticeable.
Mouthfeel is very good. It's got a smooth thickness with grainy carbonation.
Drinkability is also very good. I finished the bottle with no problem and could have a few more.
Overall I am not a huge fan of this style but it's hard to not be a fan of a beer this good. It's not terribly complex but all of the flavors hold their own and have a good amount of pop. Well worth a shot.

Damn, you, spellcheck! Trying to turn weizenbock into weathercock.
Ayinger Weizenbock. 500ml into my .5l Swiss boot. Had this beer once before but didn't review it, figured I'd buy some more as it's incredibly tasty.
A- Pours a little lighter than expected, peachy in color, with a frothy, active head that quickly settles right to the 'pour line' on my boot. A perfect pour, can't get much better than that. Coloration is a bit (just a bit) duller than I would like, although this beer is lighter than many weizenbocks in color, so perhaps it's just the way it is. Head has incredible staying power.
S- Yeast- the smell of pizza dough being stretched out. Cloves, cinnamon, and pear skin. Very nice, pretty good depth to it... I could get lost in the aromas for days if I didn't want to drink it so bad.
T- This is where this beer, and weizenbocks in general, shine. Buckets of flavor. Sweet, robust but not too-heavy malts provide a platform for sweet apples, bananas, and plum flavors. Cloves are here, and have a touch of cinnamon and nutmeg to round them out. The whole flavor profile works *wonderfully* together. One of the most well-put-together beers I've had... pretty much ever. I am really impressed at this one.
M- High carbonation, pretty heavy body but it doesn't get bogged down. Flavors are perfect, leaving a great taste in your mouth. Can't find a flaw here.
D- High, with ABV in mind. I'd have 2 500ml bottles no problem. This is a phenomenal beer, prob. in my top 3 weizenbocks, and by Jove, one of the best beers I've had in a long time. I was waiting in anticipation to see how Ayinger would do with this, and they hit it out of the park. If you love German beers, weizenbocks, or flavorful beers in general, do not wait to seek this one out. @ $4 and change for a 500ml bottle, it's a great price, too!
Note- Weizenbocks are among one of my favorite styles. This is damn near perfection! Amazing, Ayinger!

A-Pours a very rich, hazy deep yellow color with a very tall creamy/bubbly head that quickly dissapates into nothing (poor retention)but a thin colar on the glass on the beer and leaves no lacing.
S-Although this beer is not a looker, it sure does smell great with load fulls of green apple and wheat yeastyness. Very nice.
T-Much like the aroma, the flavor is full of sweet green apples and yeasty wheat flavor. I also get some slight cloviness, it's very mild so that's good. And a little hop bitterness to boot!
M-Has a medium to full, creamy yet full carbonated body. Very nice rich sweetness in the finish. Just a tad bit dry which is not bad.
D-Even though this beer is 7.1% abv, this beer is very drinkable! I highly suggest this beer to anyone who loves craft beer.

Poured from 22oz bottle into Weiss glass.
A. Poured a big massive head of light bubbles. Cloudy yellow peach color. Good head retention. A little lacing.
S. Smell is clove and banana. Hint of citrus and other spices.
T. Clove, banana, malty, citrus, pretty sweet. Tastes like a hefeweizen to me.
M. Medium bodied. Lots of carbonation. Very smooth.
D. Very drinkable. Easy to drink and refreshing. Hard to tell that it is 7%. Good Summer beer.

A: Pours a a hazy golden color with a pillowy white head that has great retention and leaves lots of lacing. Very active carbonation.
S: Lots of banana and clove from the German yeast hints of lemon and wheat are there as well.
T: Nice and yeasty up front with banana and clove dominating, but soon after a huge wave of malty wheat flavor jumps in. Some lemon rind in the finish with some more yeast character and some lingering sweetness from the wheat.
M: Well carbonated, sweet, sticky, medium bodied, smooth.
D: Great beer, glad I tried this one.

Fresh malted wheat aroma with all the spices one would expect.

Pours a super cloudy dirty orange color with a huge white head that slowly dissipates into a solid cap. The aroma is of wheat malt, some metal, banana, clove, lemon and tart apples. The taste is of clove, bananas, bubble gum, a hint of berry fruitiness. The malt takes a slap to the wheat edge and makes it sit down. As it warms there is a light lemon edge. Nice concentrated hefe flavors. Solid moderate feel, tingly carbonation, sits well and finishes awesomely terrific (a touch sweet). Very smooth feel, velvty. A very fantastic brew, a hefe on 'roids. This is very good and you must seek this out.

Pours a very cloudy orange into my weizen glass. With hard pour it takes three tries to fill up the glass with a nice white head that doesn't hang around too long. The aroma is what I expect from a well built wheat beer, with aromas of bready bananas and spice. The flavor reflects the smell. Banana, clove, but a bit hot from the alcohol on the finish. The mouthfeel is rather light for a beer that is 7.1% alcohol, I wasn't expecting it and wouldn't be able to pick it out if you didn't tell me. This is a very drinkable beer, that I will go back to on occasion. Brau-Weisse is my #1 beer and this certainly reflects a stronger version of that classic. Overall, solid weizen-bock.

Pours a cloudy orange with a frothy white head...decent retention.
I smell a hefeweizen, which isn't a bad thing...but it isn't as strong as it should be..after all this is a weizenbock. Still a pleasant aroma though
Taste is good...follows the scent. Bit more of a weizenbock profile on the taste.
Mouthfeel is creamy, and it coats the mouth really well.
Drinkable, hardly taste the slightly higher ABV..which is always a good thing.

Pours a hazy golden peach with a creamy white head. Nose has wheat, tropical fruits, spicy yeast and cloves. Taste is quite fruity yet well balanced by the bready malts and peppery yeast. Crisp refreshing body is well carbonated. Another great beer from Ayinger.

Got some of this from the. original import shipment, it seems like it is a Winter seasonal now judging by the label art. 7.1% alcohol, I'm expecting a REA imperial Hefeweizen.
Pours into my non branded weizen glass with a huge white head. The head is kind of watery and doesn't for the big mounds of fluff like most weizens do. No lacing whatsoever. The beer is a hazy goldish with hints of orange Hefeweizen color with golden edges.
Smells pretty damn good for this style. You get the typical Hefeweizen notes like banana, wheat, and clove but with an infusion of black licorice and some other spice perhaps. You can even pick up the alcohol in the scent.
The taste is heavier and sweeter than a normal Hefeweizen. Has some lemon, clove, and banana in the taste along wiht osme creamy vanilla and black licorice in the finish. The yeast adds a nice tang to it aswell.
The carbonation is prickly and active, but not over the top, lending to a fair drinkability. The alcohol becomes more apparent as you go.
This is a great wheat beer for the Winter, proves you can have it year round for all those naysayers out there.

A: poured into a weihenstephaner weizen glass, this beer is a hazy burnt orange with copious fine foam on top. Not very dark compared to some other weizenbocks
S: Bready, cloves, vanilla, mild banana
T: smooth vanilla clove sweetness. bready malts in the back. not incredibly different. delicious sweet banana bread comes through.
M: smooth and full and creamy, with a the carbonation biting through a bit.
D: this is a fantastic weizenbock. wish i had more of these. It's like their brau-weiss but a bit more bready malty complexity going on.

500mL. Poured a cloudy and opaque deep yellow color with a nice tall white head. Retention was decent, but left no lacing on the glass. Aromas are sweet and full of wheat, banana, clove, and yeast with some scents of grainy maltiness as well. Tastes are very similar to the aromas (banana, clove, wheat), but also has some vanilla notes and is rather sweet on the palate, especially on the finish. Alcohol is faint, but noticeable - seems more estery, but doesn't seem to reveal any sort of fruity notes that I guess I expected like others in this style category. Mouth-feel is medium bodied while being creamy and smooth. Overall, I was somewhat disappointed with this offering. Don't get me wrong, it was still good, but I would tend to lean towards others in this style if given the choice. This one seemed a little too weisse-y and a little too sweet for my liking.

Poured into my Humpy's Alehouse pint glass, this beer was hazy and medium yellow, with a one finger head. The head was fast, fizzy, and made of large bubbles, and it died to nothing.
Aroma was mainly strong wheat malts, but there was a lot of spicy clove thrown in there as well. It was slightly peppery and a little floral as well. Didn't get any banana off of this one, as some have. Maybe because it's a bock and not a hefe?
Taste was slightly spicy up front, followed by strong wheat malt. It was bready, and a little fruity - but again, not bananas.
Mouthfeel was good, well carbonated (especially on the swallow) and a little oily. It seemed to coat the tongue a little bit, which was kinda wierd.
Drinkability is good, it went down easily. I think I prefer Aventinus, but this was good.

A definite, true-to-the style rendition of a German classic from an outstanding Bavarian brewery... Amazing full, frothy, and thick head impressive appearance with ample lacing... Strong, pungent, wheat-laden aroma bursting with lemon zest, hints of florals, peaches, and pears...
Creamy, slightly tart mouthfeel with a noticeable alcohol presence...
Authentic stuff...

A large display at the local beer store drew me to this. Ayinger has many fine beers so I wanted to try this one. I am surprised that living in Iowa I am the 10th person to review a beer from Germany. It must be pretty fresh then!!
This beer poured a nice head with yellow and orange body. Cloudy as well. Nose is bananas spice and citrus.
Taste is high quality HEFE. Bananas, citrus, yeast, bread and spice everywhere with excellent carbonated bite at the end. Alcohol is not apparent. This taste like a regular good German wheat beer. YOu would never know it has the high alcohol. A fine offering.

Poured into a large Spaten weizen-shaped glass with a handle. Murky orange with a fluffy cap resting on the surface, at least a 3 finger head. Pouring the yeast in gives it a soupy weizenbock opacity. Clove in the nose, with the standard Ayinger hefe yeast. A little phenolic with a trace of banana. Flavor is lightly sweet and bready, more clove spice than banana in this one. Leaning more towards hefe than a supercharged weizenbock like Aventinus. Still it's very clean and refreshing. Overall i'd try it again, it's a nice Fall beer.

Cloudy pale gold in color with a big fluffy white head sitting on top. Lots of carbonation bubbling up from the bottom of the glass. Got the typical banana, clove, and bubblegum along with that hint of pepper that other reviewers have mentioned. Clove simply dominates the taste for me. Then the banana kicks in...this is really good! Malty sweetness is there, but very moderate. To me, it was everything good about a weizen, just more of it. Also has a richer feel than a regular weizen. It's really hard to believe this has a 7.1%ABV...drinkability is scary. This stuff is fantastic.

Pours a cloudy as hell peachy orange yellow brown with a stark white head that falls fairly quickly and leaves ok lacing.
Whoa! The nose is excellent. Huge banana and clove flavors right out of the gate with a sneaky underlying malt presence.
This is definitely a weizen heavy weizenbock, and a DAMN fine one at that. Gigantic bavarian bananatastic flavor is complemented by bubble gum and clove. There is a perfect amount of malt presence balancing it out. The finish is smooth and the bock end of the deal makes its presence known best here. Crisp and slightly dry on the aftertaste with huge lingering wheat yeast flavors.
Mouthfeel is exactly where it should be. Slightly high carbonation is accurate to style and the smooth viscosity hits home for the style as well.
Drinkability is nearly mindblowing as this one really drinks like a 5% slammer. Fantastic.
Overall a fantastic weizen bock. Again, this is on the wheat end of the spectrum for sure, but thats how i like em. An excellent beer that any wheat beer fan should never pass up. Will be going back to the store to stock up on these bad boys tomorrow. Great beer. Firmly in my top 5 for weizenbocks, without question.

T: Follows the nose. Very spicy with banana and clove flavors.

Poured from a 500ml bottle into a weizen glass:
Appearance: Pours a beautiful, hazy light gold in color, this thing is real cloudy! Even through the bottle this is like looking out your window in the morning in Seattle! A decent size head fizzes down to nice lacing around the glass.
Smell: Plenty of weizen aromas here, I get bits of bubblegum like sweetness, some banana, clove, and a backdrop of some spiciness, almost peppered biscuit like. Some earthiness and small bits of grain are also prevalent, very refreshing to the nose.
Taste: A beautiful array of spiciness and palate bursting weizen flavors are very subtle yet hit your tastebuds like a linebacker. First I get some banana bread and some clove, follwed by a deep malt sweetness that is almost buttery like. This weizenbock has a beautiful hint of alcohol that keeps you interested yet isn't overkill of the overall presence of the beer. A mild, peppery finish is just what the doctor ordered for a perfectly crafted Weizenbock!
Mouthfeel: Deep carbonation, this beer leaves the tongue a bit wet, but this isn't bad at all. A faint bitterness is present but barely enough to dry out the mouthfeel.
Drinkability: Besides the Aventinus offering this is probably one of the best Weizenbock's I've had the pleasure of having. I love how spicy the aromas and the actual taste are and it really shows off true Weizen properties with an excellent showing of bubblegum/banana like elemenets. At $3.25 and 7.1% ABV, this is not only a bargain, it's a steal! Grab this while you can!

I poured this from a bottle into a weizen glass.
A: This is a beautiful looking beer; a little cloudy and golden; a beautiful billowing head with good lacing
S: Mmmm. Those typical weizen smells are here: cloves and bananas and even slightly peppery
T: Bananas and spicy cloves; also, quite malty and strong; the alchol is present but not overwhelming
M: Carbonation is balanced and there is a pretty nice even coating throughout the mouth
F: Actually, I couldn't quite tell that this was a 7% beer; it tasted strong, but not that strong. This is a delicious and very drinkable beer.

500ml bottle.
Pours a very hazy pale golden color. The head peaks at three fingers, and then sticks around for the entire drink. Lacing is really good, with large clumps all over the inside of the glass.
Smell; bananas, cloves, bubblegum and pepper are all there. Fairly typical of a weizen, all be it a very good one, but I'm not getting much more like I would have expected for a weizenbock.
Taste; holy crap, there's the weizenbock. Sweet and malty right out of the gates, then spicy alcohol, cloves, citrus and bananas. The wheat really shines through the middle, with a dash of alhocol, then finishes with another hit of the spiciness and bubblegum.
Mouthfeel/drinkability; mouthfeel is medium bodied and ultra creamy with just enough carbonation to keep it from becoming heavy on the palate. Drinkability is good. The only thing that would keep me from enjoying this all night long is the higher alcohol.
Man am I glad Aying is shipping this one to the States, as this is just a really fantastic beer.
