The beer is bark brown with hints of red, much beige foam leaving a compact head.

The smell has a hints of malt and burnt bread, a bit of sweetness.

The taste is pleasant, tones of dates, raisins, some smoky malty tones, dark chocolate and coffee, but still fresh and bitter.

A rather light but pleasant carbonation.

L: dark brown almost black like stout
S: dark chocolate, roasted malt, licorice
T: dark chocolate, licorice, balanced
F: rounded finish, low carbonation, the body is more on the thin side
O: a very good quality beer which is similar to a stout, very enjoyable, but not the most interesting.

Pours dark toffee resin brown with frothy, off tan head. Malty, caramel on nose, though not overly pungent. Rich, dark treacle taste with mellow malts and crisp for a double Bock. Good wintry ale.

This is the final 0,5l bottle in the mixed 6-pack I purchased in the lobby of the Ayinger hotel when I was checking into my room over MDW 2023. Had never seen this and didn’t even know they brewed it so I was pumped. Label states a filling date of 14.12.22 and a best before date of 14.12.23. It’s the middle of summer but a cool, cloudy, windy, rainy day on the last Sunday in July so I figured why not today. Pleasantly surprised upon first sniff and sip. This could be a Doppelbock. Properly dark and sweet. Doesn’t drink as heavily as a double bock, though, which makes this a special seasonal bock. Caramelized malts are on point. Super drinkable for the style but definitely meant to be savored. I’m wondering if just over seven months in the bottle mellowed this out to near perfection. Wow!

L- Superficially black, held to a light it is a very dark ruby red. 1Cm pale tan head. Forms lacing.
S- Roasty malts.
T- Deeply roasty-toasty, into a deep richness then a dry hoppy lick in the finish.
F- Does what it suggests on the lable. Great for slow sipping on a winter's night.
O- As aniticipated it's a polished beer. Robust yet a fine balance to it. After a week sampling big-beast hipster beers it's a pleasure to get back to some no nonsense pedigreed quality. An irony is it costs less then them too.

Pours a dark-brown color with a medium top off beige head that dissolves slowly.
Aroma is of dark malts, bread, toast, dried fruits, caramel, nuts and spices.
The flavour is malty and bready with some sweet dried fruit notes allong with some burnt notes. The finish is slighly bitter with some herbal hop notes while the malty notes linger in the background. Aftertaste is long and strong. Mouthfeel is smooth and creamy with a mediucarbonation and a medium body.
I found this bockbier really nice and tasty .

50cl bottle, bb in 4m.

Very dark brown with a ruby heart. Pale brown head with a respectable lace.

Aroma is quintessential darker kind of Munich malt, with a bit of roast to it. Bread, caramel, cookie, a bit of dark fruit.

The malt is pleasantly thick on the tongue, with plenty of licorice blending with the grainy sweetness. Bitterness cutting through and both continuing to vie for dominance towards a long aftertaste. A very succesfully full-bodied bock. Balance despite an abundance of taste, resulting in high drinkability.

A canonical example for the style.
