500ml bottle poured into pilsener glass.

A - Poured a dark amber with some haze. A glowing orange in the light. Thick, impressive head, tannish in color. Some haze, too. A good looking beer.

S - Typical for a Marzen. Sweet malts, some caramel/toffee. Also noticed some banana, and odd for Marzen's I've tried, some dark fruits. Not a bad aroma, but nothing I've never experienced.

T - Drinking this now in June, and being a Marzen, the beer might be past it's peak. No harm though, a pretty solid beer. Said malts and other aromas were all noticed in the taste. Not crazy about tasting the dark fruits in this style of beer. Drops it's rating a bit, IMO. Also noticed some pumkin spice and a general "fall season" taste. Kind of light tasting for a Marzen. Lot's of flavor and plenty going on, I'm just used to more "oomph" in an Oktoberfest.

F - Okay, nothing real strange. A little sticky feeling would be the only downfall. Felt good while in the mouth, though.

O - A decent representation of the style. Good flavor, just a bit on the lighter side for a Marzen. Could also be a bit past it's expiration, too. Certainly a quality brew for the $1.99 I paid. Won't rush out to grab this again, but it's certainly a beer I won't mind sampling again.

I'm having a bottle of Ayinger Oktoberfest out of season for the second time. Not a problem - it tastes just fine, even in June.This orange-gold brew looks great and has good head. Smells apple sweet. From what I've been reading in other reviews, the yeast is part of what lends the aroma. The flavor has great malty texture, the hops lend a mild spiciness, but the yeast again gives it some fruit. Exceedingly pleasant to drink, a great member of the family of Bavarian lagers.
