These Volks make my some of my favorite bieren.
A: Straw yellow with white translucence. One finger head that fizzles down to a nice sheen with bits of lacing here and there.
S: More clove and fresh mown hay than banana. Like the countryside of Bayern.
T: The sweet wheat is balanced very nicely with a bit of a lemon-grassy tartness. Ends in a crisp Hallertauer hop dryness.
M: Perfect medium-light tart. This is Wuotan's lemonade.
O: A great beer.

I had this beer at a local german restaurant. this is definitely a good beer, especially with german food. It was served at a perfect temperature... had a nice 1-2 finger head.... smelled as you would expect.... it was the most perfect compliment to a fine german meal... I couldn't get enough.

Wow! What can I say? This is the second time that I've had this Ayinger weiss. The first time was in Rotenburg, Germany on Tap! This time was in a bottle that I purchased at Binny's in Chicago. With the obvious banana and spice overtones, what makes this brew exeptional is the mouthfeel.
During the middle of the winter, it is always great to look forward to great summer brews like the Ayinger.

A little sharp on the mouth, but I like it! Great colors and head, must give it some time to rest in the glass. Fruity and still so much depth to the flavor. This is another great hefe from Deutschland! No imposter here, just a great food and "just because" beer. Very very refreshing and easy to drink. I like the slight vanilla aftertaste. This is a must try hefe!

500 mL bottle poured into a weissbier glass.
Pours a dense, cloudy orange-tinted straw with a thick, fluffy white head.
Aromas of not-quite-ripe banana and clove on top of yeasty bread. Well balanced on the palate, with the banana and clove keeping each other in check, with just a touch of orange to brighten the overall flavor, and a lingering bready note on the finish.
Light to medium in body, with a quenching level of carbonation, aided by a light citrusy tartness.

Presentation: It was poured from a brown 500ml bottle into a tall weizen glass. The abv is listed on the back label (5.1%) but there is no freshness date.
Appearance: The body has an orange/yellow color with a cloudy haze and some visible carbonation. On top I got a thick and creamy off white head. It is long lasting and makes slick lace ring which slowly slide down the sides of the glass.
Smell: The aroma has notes of sweet bubble gum and banana peel with just a light touch of wheat malt.
Taste/Palate: The flavor is not as sweet as the aroma foreshadowed. Tangy wheat meets the tongue first with a light clove banana yeast notes following. A touch of citrus and spicy/leafy hops leads into the finish which is crisp and fairly dry. The firm medium body has plenty of active carbonation give it a lively snappy texture.
Notes: I love the texture and finish on this beer. Some German Hefeweizen beers get a little to slick on the palate but this one is crisp and feels alive with carbonation. Overall this is an outstanding Hefeweizen.

Pours a hazy yellow, highly carbonated and and full of tasty yeast.
A thick head for looks that slowly disapates into a fine summer beer by anyone's standards. Scent of bannanas and cloves is very present. This beer full in body but light and crisp on the tongue. Hints of lemon, bannana and bubble gum are present in this fine heffe. All I need now is a fat pretzel and some spicy mustard to finish this expierience. A true German Heffe and a must try by any beer aficionado!

A: Pours a hazy pale golden color. A huge bone white head. Really great appearance.
S: Rich aromas of damp hay, banana, clove and maybe some baked bread.
T: Banana and clove with some wet hay and grass. Bready malts and banana bread on the finish. The mouthfeel is incredibly creamy and has an effervescent feel. Possibly the best he'd I'vr ever had.

One of my all-time favs, finally up for review. Into my Brooklyn Weiss glass it goes, a radient yellow-amber brew, quite hazy, and capped with 3 inches of cloud white head. Head retention is good with zero lacing.
As soon as I popped the cap, the air took on a perfume of bananas and bubblegum. As I stick my schnoz deeper into the glass, peppery spice and clove, banana bread, and spritzy lemony zest greet my senses. This is absolutely how I want a hefe to smell, perfect.
The beer explodes upon my palate with an abundance of bubblegum and banana clove citrus spice. On the sweeter side of hefes, but nowhere near cloying. The candy sweetness is balanced by the lemony zing. There's an ample measure of yeasty goodness in there. Almost enough to satisfy my ever ravenous craving for Belgian ales. Mouthfeel is medium light, very refreshing, and almost creamy feeling. Top-notch all the way!

Pours a hazy light/bright apple juice (almost like a lemonade) color and a snow white head that dissipated with evident carb action.
Has a slight banana and cookie dough malt smell with a pine and citrus hops aroma.
Lightly sweet, acidic, and grainy malt taste with a crisp grapefruit and lemon hops flavor.
Light bodied, dry and slightly syrupy texture, soft carbonation, and a smooth lemon/grapefruit finish that lingers grapefruit.
Easy to drink the slight issues may be the lack of a balanced bitter taste and the lingering grapefruit finish.

Appearance: Cloudy to a "T." Nice, solid white head. Lovely tan colour, very opaque.
Aroma: cloves, banana, grass, chamomile, very light cardamom. Nice balance of aromas.
Taste: Textbook without being industrial. Grass, banana, clove, and peach. Very refreshing.
Palate: What can I say? Near-perfect all the way down.
Overall: Lovely hefeweizen, one of the best I've had. As stated above, classic and textbook without being industrial or boring. PERFECT with grilled bratwurst and sauerkraut.

Cloudy yellow color with super soft explosive white pillow of a head, that stays until the end. Distinct clove and tart banana smells along with noticable citrus smell. Very tart citrus taste, balanced with subtle yeast flavors that make hefe's so good. Tartness got better balanced toward the bottom. Nice medium body and easy to down. Smooth feel, then a crisp dry finish, makes it a very drinkable hefe-weiss.

Pours a light orange-yellow color with a huge spongy head that slowly fades leaving a little lace on the glass. The beer is cloudy but not as much as I've seen in other hefeweizens.
Right from the start, the smell is incredible. It starts a little phenolic, with some spicy clove, then a little citrus comes through. The nose finishes with some mouthwatering banana pudding aromas. Mmmm. The taste is very clean with hints of banana and citrus.
The mouthfeel is extremely creamy and smooth. There is pleasantly sweet aftertaste, and it goes down so easily, I could absolutely drink this exclusively all night.
*Note: On a personal taste basis, this is definitely one of the best hefeweizens I have ever had.

One of the finest hefe's on the market. Wonderful look. Cloudy, sullen, rich wheat beer. Brilliant yellow gold colour. Creamy/frothy head, a little over an inch thick, that lingered for a touch, long enough to get three good swigs out before it dissipated to the wall of the goblet. The flavour is the key in this one. Typical wheat beer hits, with swift kicks of clove, anise and black pepper, rounded with dry, yet buttery massages. Thirst quencher and a half. GREAT BEER. Period.

Appearance: Pours a hazy apricot color in the glass with a frothy head at first that goes away.
Smell: Grapefruit, orange and lemon hit your nose right away with a wheat aftersmell.
Taste: Tastes like sunshine. Excellent wheat beer that tastes quite like it smells.
Mouthfeel: Tangy with a easy aftertaste.
Drinkability: If it is over 70 degrees outside I could drink this all day long. A good weiss is my vice.

Awesome Bavarian hefe. Cloudy gold-orange with a thick, billowy white head. Rich, almost spicy nose of coriander, citrus, wheat and bananna. Zesty coriander taste, very malty with a mild, low hop profile.
Fizzy. but not overly carbonated. Light, but not watery. Very refreshing, especially on a hut summer day.

500ml bottle. Hoepfner Weizen glass. Enjoyed on jun´12. Pale yellow color, foggy appearance. White , small bubbled, froth. Thick, close, lively crown. Good retention. Herbal & floral notes, intense clove, vanilla & ripe bananas to the nose. Flavor shows gentle sweet malts, fruity hints, bready notes & ripe banana texture. Light/medium body, soft carbonation. Subtle citric touch mixed with ripe fruit is the only hop character shown. Lasting finish. Creamy, flavorful & satiating.Refreshing.

Had on tap today at the Marquee Lounge. Served into a tall Ayinger weizen glass.
Appearance was a cloudy golden yellow with a one inch plus white head that fell a bit but held up the whole time and left some good lace. I think the Ayinger glass enhances it as well.
Aroma had lots of banana esters and fresh baked sweet breadiness, with a light touch of clove in the back.
Taste began with the aforementioned bready sweetness followed by the perfect amount of banana that was balanced in the finish by the perfect amount of spicy clove character. Perfect.
Mouthfeel was on the light side, very crisp and refreshing with nice carbonation, though I think it could have been slightly higher.
This was fantastic on tap. In the bottle it is just good but from the tap it is amazing. It had to have been quite fresh.

The pour - 500ml bottle into a basic pint glass. Two stages due to the size. Pours a very nice pale cloudy yellow with active white foamy head.
Smell - beautiful mixture of wheat, banana, and clove. The smell erupts from the glass with minimal effort.
Taste - fantastic. Crisp, slight citrus, loads of wheat. Everything you'd ever want in a hefe. Flavor holds in the mouth well, and carbonation goes to work. Absolutely delicious.
The perfect summer brew. Could have loads of these. Drinkable only scratches the surface.

Pours a hazy golden straw color with a massive foamy and rocky white head that lasts until the beer glass is empty. Nose is ripe banana and lemon, vanilla, clove, and nutmeg. Fine champagne-like carbonation is very crisp and refreshing in the mouth. Taste is sweet bread, spicy clove, tart lemon, and fresh fruit. Another great Hefe. Simply a pleasure to drink.

Poured from 16.9 oz bottle into weizen glass.
A - Hazy yellow with nice 3 finger head, but it recedes quickly to a white collar, some lacing.
S - Heavenly banana aroma with a phenolic backdrop. Some sour wheat malt creeping through. The best hefe I've ever smelled.
T - As extraordinary as the nose. Quite a sweet hefe, with a strong banana component early palate. Dominates mid and late palate as well, where mild phenols and wheat malt shine through. Mild yet balanced, this is pretty much everything I could ask for in a hefeweizen.
M - Nicely carbonated with a bit of a heavier body than most.
D - I'd love to have these all day, but price is a definite issue. Otherwise throwing back one after the other of these wouldn't be the slightest problem.
This might be my favorite hefeweizen thus far. The prevalence of the banana esters while phenols and wheat malt take a backseat is amazing. This beer is perhaps what I've always wanted in a hefeweizen.

One of my favorite hefeweizen beers. Ayinger continues to amaze me.
A: Golden/Honey pour with nice thick white head that persisted well into the drink.
S: Smells of citrus: Orange/Lemon. Spicey scent as well.
T: Great summer beer. The wheat and citrus does not overpower as you are left with a nice aftertaste.
M: Smooth and light with little tingle.
D: I found this hefeweizen easy to drink because it was extremely light, great for a hot day.

Poured into a cylinder glass.
A: Very cloudy golden-yellow color, with a thick white head.
S: Lots of clove and phenols on the nose, with some banana in the backdrop. Spicy hints of nutmeg also abound. Manages to still be light and pleasant, like a warm summer night.
T: Nice wheat and clove characteristics up front, with some yeast and phenolic notes coming in toward the middle. A faint hint of lemon is also present. All the flavors meld very well.
M: Substantial, yet still fairly light-bodied. Decent amount of carbonation. The feel might be best described as "light, yet coating." Wonderfully sweet finish.
D: Oh, so refreshing and easy to quaff, yet quite rewarding to those looking for complexity.
If Weihenstephaner makes the best hefeweizen in the world, this offering from Ayinger comes in a close second, if not holding a sort of "1b" status. This beer is so light and refreshing, it was practically tailor-made for warm nights, relaxing outdoors with good company. The true beauty of this brew lies in its sublime feel, so soft yet all-encompassing. Definitely give this one a shot!
