Notes:
Drake's Drakonic Imperial Stout - 8.75% ABV, 40 IBUS
A big, malty beast of a beer that exemplifies the way we roll here at Drake's. Two-row malt is blended with Chocolate malt, roasted barley, and dark Crystal malts to make up the grist. Only one hop addition, Columbus, is added for bittering, allowing the abundance of malt in this beer to shine through. Enjoy the dense brownish head, the silky maltiness, and flavors of licorice, coffee and chocolate, rounded out with a slightly dry finish. here's to those who don't fear the mighty!

Poured from a bomber into a snifter glass.
A: Pours a dark black color with little to no head to speak of. The little bit of head after sloshing around a bit is a caramel color. Very thin.
S: Getting a boozy, chocolate, coffee aroma. Not over powering, but solid and standard for the style.
T: Hides the alcohol very well. Getting chocolate, along with some vanilla. Slight creamy-ness as well.
M: Surprised by this, find it to be very thin for an Imperial Stout. Has the mouthfeel on a normal stout or porter.
O: Overall pretty solid offering without standing out. Doesn't do anything great, but hits about what you'd expect. Solid, but for the price point I think better RIS are out there. Worth a shot to give a try though. Would love to find it on tap.

650 mL bottle poured into a snifter.
Appearance - Pours nearly black. Small off white head. Just a few surface wisps.
Smell - Caramel malt, some roast, not much though. Hops and grain are pretty prevalent.
Taste - Really caramely. The grain and bitterness come through more than the dark malts. Background gives more of that roast. Not a ton though.
Mouthfeel - Medium body. High carbonation. Might be a little too thin.
Overall - Poor beer suffers having been consumed after Bourbon County Coffee. Nothing by comparison.

bomber poured into a sniffer. dark, dark, dark . . . barely lets any light through near the bottom. thick head dies down a bit quicker than i'd like. nose shows a nice hint of molasses. taste is classic stout, with a bit of licorice and molasses. mouth feel is a tad thin for my taste on this style, carbonation is low, but work just right for this style, imo. not boozy, which is nice considering its abv.

22oz bottle into snifter.
A: Pours black with three fingers of dense mocha colored, fluffy, long lasting head that slowly faded into a thin film leaving rings of lace down the glass.
S: Roasted malt dominates, light coffee, bitter black chocolate, touch of vanilla. Smells good but pretty standard.
T: Follows the nose. Creamy rich chocolate, deep roasted malts, char, bitter black coffee, roasted coconut finish, toasted marshmallow and a bitter aftertaste. Anise is in there with the roast, too.
M: Light booze, fuzzy carbonation, smooth mouth, heavy, viscous full body but not motor oil.
O: A very solid stout. Straight forward, clean, but complex enough to be interesting. Drinks well, nothing too overpowering.
