Overall, a pleasant suprise here. Poured from a 12oz bottle into a Sam Adams glass. Reasonable fluffy white head that lingered for a very short time (beer was extra cold). Had a great Pilsner aroma, my first thought was "good German beer". Taste was bright, and smooth with just the right lingering bittterness at the finish. Was a tad light on the carbonation, though. A good example of the style.

Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a tall pilsner glass. Nice foamy head, but not especially thick. Enjoyable, easy drinking beer. Quite sessionable, yet nothing extraordinary. Crisp, clean and refreshing, but could be much better if the hops were a little bigger. True to type, but seems more like a PU of today than the old beloved style.

The beer pours a pale gold color with a thick white head that slowly fades to lacing. The aroma is decent. It's your basic Czech pilsner scent; pilsner malts and Czech hops. It's light and crisp with a refreshing character to it. The taste is decent as well. Again, it's easy drinking with not a ton of character. It light and quaffable with a crisp, clean finish. The mouthfeel is fine. It is a low bodied beer with good carbonation. This is a good example of an European pilsner. It's true to character and highly drinkable.

Poured from a 12 oz bottle in to a pilsener glass.

A- Pours an absolutely clear and golden with minimal head and a little retention. Looks like an American macro.

S- Bready malts and a solid amount of spice, accompanied by some hoppy notes.

T- It's hard to pinpoint any one standout flavor, so I'd say this tastes a bit like a garden salad. Not my favorite.

M- Pretty light, but well-carbonated. Could use a bit more body.

O- I don't really have anything negative to say about this offering, but there isn't much good to say either.

A: Pours a clear straw yellow color with almost no head

S: Some bready pilsner malts, grains, and lightly spicy hops. Very simple and clean

T: Follows the nose. Lightly sweet and bready malts, cereal grains, and light grassy hops. Finishes with a light lingering of the hops, but still very much on the clean side

M: Light bodied with moderate carbonation

O: A solid American-style Czech pils with a good amount of flavor that borders on being sessionable. A nice spring seasonal

Poured from bottle into a pint glass

Appearance –Pours a deeper yellow- golden colored brew with a one half finger pure white head. The head fades rather slowly, leaving a lighter level of lace on the sides of the glass.

Smell – A musty and grainy aroma create the base of the brew. Mixed with these smells are a lighter grassy and herbal smell as well as a little bit of a papery aroma.

Taste – The taste begins with a bready and slightly grainy flavor with hints of a caramel sweetness. As the taste advances the sweetness fades more, with a slightly herbal and grassy hop flavor coming to the tongue. The hop flavors remain relatively light, but persist to the end of the taste, where the grassy flavors then grow a bit stronger, leaving a lightly bittered and malty flavor to linger on the tongue.

Mouthfeel –For a 5.2% abv. pilz ,the body of the beer is on the slightly thicker and chewier side with a carbonation level that is rather average. The thickness takes away from the refreshing nature ever so slightly (very slightly), but accentuates the more herbal and grassy hop flavors of the brew. Overall it is a pretty decent feel.

Overall – A decently easy drinking and refreshing brew. Nothing too flavorful or special, but good for what it is meant for; a somewhat crisper, easy drinking, and refreshing brew to drink while sitting and conversing with friends.

12 oz bottle poured into a Kostritzer pilsner glass.

A: Pours a golden straw color typical of the style. The head is a one finger white shade. It fades quickly, nor does it leave much lacing on the glass.

S: I really like how hoppy this one is. Tons of zesty, grassy noble hops bombard my nose with only a modicum of malt sweetness coming through.

T: The flavor doesn't come across quite right; it seems to be heavy in both buttery and vegetal components. It has that green bell pepper quality I tend to dislike in some pilsners. Some sweetness builds on the midtaste which slightly wrecks the balance.

M: Not as crisp as I like in the style. It's properly light, but the hops don't really cleanse the sweetness particularly well.

O: Merely an average pilsner; the vegetal character really hurts it. Not bad, but there are much better lagers out there.

Drinkable beer. I'm going straight from the bottle so I can't tell you what it looks like. Smells like a euro pilsner, very clean one too. Tastes clean and crisp and a mild sweetness of malt with a nice little hop flowering. Feels a bit dusty in the aftertaste. Overall a respectable, clean, session worthy brew. Can't say I really love the whole name and labeling going on. Trash doesn't make me want to drink... makes me want to shower. I guess this brew showers your mouth?

DOP 12/31/12 printed on the bottle

Clear, golden yellow color. Bone white head about 1/2 inch tall. Thin layer of retention and uneven protrusions of lace.

The aroma isn't too shabby: noble hop grass and hay in abundance. The pilsner malt is very clean with a crisp graininess. The flavor is similarly shy on malts and the hops are ramped up. Grassy, herbal hops rake the taste buds with a bit too high of a bitterness for the style. Cereal grains as it warms. The finish has an unpleasant coating quality. Sharp, zesty feel with ample carbonation.

Eh, this is drinkable but hardly impressive or worth a repeat attempt.

Got a sixer on a friend’s recommendation, and I couldn’t be more conflicted. Everyone other one has been highly drinkable or borderline poor. The diehards will say you can’t get a good pils here, that the only place it’s good enough and fresh enough is Eastern Europe. I won’t concede that they’re right, even if this is a pint in their favor.

STYLE: Czech Pilsner

ABV: 5.2%

LOOK: Clear gold, easily one of the most transparent beverages I’ve ever seen. I wasn’t able to generate a head, but it was interesting to see bubbles cling to the outside rather than rush up the middle, tornado style.

NOSE: Pizza dough, buttered corn stalks, unpopped popcorn.

MOUTH: Daring to be unimaginative. Canned vegetables, mostly corn water, which speaks more to the lack of freshness than the taste. I feel like I just drank a single blade of grass. It’s difficult to drink slowly, so thin and light. The style, I know. But there has to be more to do it for me. A little white pepper on the finish helps.

Eurotrash Pilz pours a clear gold color with a tiny head. Overall, this was a pretty surprising beer from Southern Tier. The aroma is light, with noble hops and light malts. The taste has a light dose of noble hops over a light malt base. A wet dog sensation comes through halfway in - it's been a while since I've had a macro-styled beer so it's almost novel. The mouthfeel is light and crisp, and the drinkability is great. It's a pretty much pitch perfect take on the Euro Lager style, but more drinkable and flavorful. I like it.

A - Pours with a small head of white foam that dissipates quickly and leaves little lace. The body is a clear, golden color.

S - Bready notes of pilsner malt with some subtle, spicy hops.

T - Bread and biscuit notes up front with light, spicy hops in the middle. Finishes with sweet graham cracker notes and herbal bitterness.

M - Medium body, moderately high carbonation, and a fairly dry finish.

D - This is a reasonable example of the style, though it is lacking some of the intensity of the better European examples. The hops are present, but a bit subdued and the pilsner malt character never quite comes out in its full glory. Nevertheless, it is quite drinkable and better than the average Euro-style lager.

A: Aggressive pour yields 1/2 finger of fizzy white head with good retention for a pilsener. Dusting of thin white head remains after 40 seconds or so. Crystal clear lemon juice yellow. More head please!
S: No skunk. Clean bready grain with spicy hop.
T: Clean and bready with moderate hop bite that balances perfectly at first! Hop get a tad too aggressive halfway through though. Slight grapefruit. I wish the balance lasted throughout - bread fades and hops dominate. Grassy hop finish
M: Biting hop finish makes it a tad less likely for this to be a session for me.
O: Perfect for this sunny mid-80s day. A decent take on the style, but just a tad imbalanced towards hops.

Very clear, very light. Little head.

Sharp, pungent aroma. Slight skunk.

Nice malt and hop balance. Good crisp flavor. Clean finish.

Light bodied. Appropriate for style. Not overly carbonated.

This is a really decent pilsner. Something light, refreshing, and genuinely flavorful.

It poured a nice bright straw yellow colored body with a very little fizzy head that quickly vanished. The smell is and citrusy with some hop notes. The taste is crisp with some nice citrus notes and is well balanced with the malt. The mouth feel is nice and dry but a nice easy drinking beer. Overall not a huge flavor here but very drinkable.

The beer has a bright golden color. It also has brilliant clarity and good carbonation. The head is kinda weak in that much wasn't produced upon my pour. But what head I did get had good retention through out and left some spotty lacing.
Aroma was weak. Scents of spicy hops and bready malts.
Good tasting no doubt, bready malts up front with some light and spicy hops. maybe peppery.
Prickly on the palette smooth and a tad dry.
In my opinion the only thing bad about this thing is the name. The beer is quite good. Though I think it drinks more towards a kolsch.

12oz bottle purchased for $1.69 at Main Market Co-Op in Spokane. No freshness date to be found on the label or the bottle. It DOES state that this was “brewed with 2 varieties of hops and 2 types of malts,” but declines to name them. I was a little surprised by the stridently bright pink used on the label, but it certainly makes it stand out.

Poured a somewhat hazy, straw-gold color, with a white head that drops after a couple of minutes, leaving a foam ring.

Soft, floral hops and biscuity malts are detected by the ol’ factory. Very pilsner, or Pilz, -esque.

Tastes mildly hoppy to start with, and then is almost immediately matched by the malts. Ends with a crisp note. While not a flavor bomb, it captures the essence of what a pilsner should taste like.

Light bodied, yet with an almost creamy mouthfeel.

A good choice for a hot day, and it’s supposed to reach 97 degrees today. As I stated above, it’s not a flavor bomb, but pilsners aren’t supposed to be. I would definitely drink this again.

Pours a mostly clear golden straw color, thin cap of bubbles gone quickly. First whiffs brings notes of mineral water combined with grassy and lightly spicy hops. Not overly complex in taste either, strong mineral water notes bring damp earthyness and some metallic flavor, hops are grassy, earthy and lightly spicy. Suprisingly hefty for a pilsener, maybe a splash too much. Decent flavor, although not best to style.

It is rare for me to be buying bottled beer, so this purchase (and subsequent review) must have something to do with its name and its labeling.

From the bottle: "Brewed with 2 varieties of hops and 2 types of malts"; "Craft Revolution and an "Anarchy" A".

I got a finger-and-a-half of rocky, bone-white head from my aggro pour which evidenced low retention due to the humidity of the day. Color was a pale lemon-yellow with NE-quality clarity and lots of carbonation in evidence. This sissy was looking forward to this fizzy yellow beer. Ya heard, Greg Koch? Nose had a very pleasant lemon-citrusiness and my mouth was watering at the prospect. Mouthfeel was thinner than all of the carbonation had led me to expect, but the taste was like a lemon tart/muffin/biscuit as the hops really interacted well with the malt in the mouth. Finish was semi-dry and not just refreshing but welcomed in the increasing humidity of this summer afternoon. Quite good and worth having again.

Bottle into a pilsener glass. DOB on bottle is 1/18/12.

Appearance: Clear body. Yellow in color. Average frothy white head that fades to basically nothing. No lacing. Lots of little carbonation bubbles flowing throughout.

Aroma: Spicy, floral hop. Lemon zest, biscuit and pilsener malt.

Taste: Quick spicy hop bite, somewhat floral and wet. Then kinda dulls and fades into a slightly sweeter malt character. Biscuit-y.

Mouthfeel: Light to medium body. Soft carbonation kind of dulls it down but it's easily drinkable. and the flavors work well together. Finish is sweet dry biscuit.

A: Brilliant clarity on a golden-maize color shows a gentle whisper of effervesce. The head is oatmeal in color, frothy and patchy and quick to dissipate leaving no window lacing. Expected a bit more pop carbonation wise and head retention.

S: Green flowers on the nose, soft hay, very low grainiess, could of used a better and cleaner grain character and lacked the spicy hops of a good Czech pils.

T: A bit of moldy grain character, not very clean or crisp at all. Maybe that’s why they call it a euro-trash. Dry hay with a bit of funky mildewy hop finish and aftertaste.

M: Flat carbonation, but does have some substance body wise, still meh, lacks crispness.

O: Overall not very tasty, a bit of funky moldy hops, low carbonation and unclean malt profile leaves much to be desired. A shame because I usually like a lot of southern tiers beers, just goes to show you the real craftmenship is in brewing the lighter bodied beers where flaws cannot hide. Blah not even close.

Poured from the bottle a light clear gold color with three fingers of white head.

Aroma of lemon, biscuit, floral hops and sweet malts.

The taste matched the aroma. Lemon, floral hops, biscuit and sweet malts. Bitter bite to the finish.

Lighter bodied and crisp with a sharp carbonation.

I enjoyed this Czech Pilsner from Southern Tier quite a bit. I'll definitely have more this summer.
