From the depths of the underworld and the mysterious vats in Lakewood, NY comes a wicked brew so scrumptious and so enticing you'd think it would have taken a little bit of black magic to create this one...Yes, that's how I felt when I drank this gem.
A - Beautiful dark copper appearance with a decent amount of head and left some spider webbing on the sides.
S - Pumpkin Pie, Pumpkin Egg Nog, Spices, and ALL things pumpking. A faint scent of nutmeg and pumpkin spice. Not such a strong alcohol presence. Not just overpowering with the fake pumpkin spice smell.
T - Mouth watering pumpkin pie taste that overflows from the tip of the tongue to the back. There are hints of pumpkin ice cream flavor hiding in there too. Wait was that a little pie crust...? Not only does this taste great and go well with desert but it can even trigger memories of holidays past. The alcohol is there but no jet fuel in your mouth sensation.
M - The mouth feel was surprisingly creamy and full bodied. I don't see how someone could consider this one watery. This is the first pumpkin beer I've tried that seemed that creamy and rich(besides DFH). Again this reminded me a little bit of pumpkin egg nog seeing how creamy it was.
D - Excellent taste but not something I would session. This one is to be your Thanksgiving, Christmas, or Halloween séance desert beverage. Respect the taste and ABV.
Overall I loved this Brew. I can not wait to share this one with friends and family. This will be a staple for our holiday meals and parties in the fall and early winter. I would recomend this to anyone who loves pumpkin pie and pumpkin ice cream.
I think I'll make some "Pumking" bread for this weekend today.

Please understand when I say I loved the 2012 version of this "classic". It tasted so true to pumpkin pie my wife, who is not a beer drinker, and I couldn't get enough. The 2013 version, of which my wife had me buy a case, tastes to me like burnt brown sugar. I can't get past it. There is a half case in my cellar.

This is by far my favorite beer that I have tasted. The Pumking is the perfect drink during the fall with great pumpkin, cinnamon, and vanilla flavors. Great to have with dinner or just having a casual drink. I can't wait until this is on tap again!
