Poured from the bottle into my DFH Chalice...

Appearance: Pours a clean, deep, dark brown (almost black) color. There's a good inch of light coffee-colored head. Decent retention, the head fades slowly down to a thin ring.

Smell: There's some lightly roasted coffee blended with a bitter chocolate, but the smell that sticks out the most is actually a sweet lactose sort of smell.

Taste: Mild coffee and chocolate, but really no major stout characteristics stick out. Not getting much in the way of a roastiness, and that lactose quality is ever present.

Mouthfeel: Medium body, smooth and creamy texture. Not bad here.

Drinkability: Honestly, I'm disappointed with this beer. I've had other ST offerings, and they've all be good. Some have been over the top, but they've been good. This brew isn't bad, though, it's just missing that classic ST punch in the face. I'm going to chalk this one up to bad luck/bad bottle/age/whatever. I'll seek out another bottle and hope that I can update this review with more positive feedback.
