Exceptionally dark brown to black in color, on a scale of 1-10, the color is in the mid-8s. Just a hint of lightness around the edges. The head is tan, thin, and doesn't have much retention.

Smell is a combination of roasty flavors...coffee, bittersweet chocolate, and smoke.

The flavors are light and subtle, but the same as in the scent with a small addition of alcohol in the finish.

It's creamy and thick on the palate. The only bitterness comes in the finish. The heat from the alcohol washes away any sweetness.

Overall, a really good beer. Even though the flavors are subtle, the beer is big and bold with a big ABV.
