This is "snowmobile beer". Not main stream and usually drank because there is nothing else around. God knows why they still make this stuff.

Similar to many ales in Canada and the USA but with that added skank flavour. Mmm, nothing tastes like irresponsible mayhem in the forest in January like Ten Penny.

Bottle: I last had this some 20 years ago. Then it was on par with Okeefe’s extra old stock. This moosehead version has more ale character than most commercial east coast brews but still is too bland and unpronounced to be considered a premium ale.

Poured a darker gold , small white cap vanished quickly.... weak lacing,...

sweet aroma some grains.

Weak malt backbone, soapy mouthfeel.

Some sweet malts up front with some light apple tones and weak woody hops to balance, mid palate it goes thin and ends with a quick clean tasteless finish....a better commercial ale would be black pearl.

Haven't had a Ten Penny in thirty years I'm sure. Its not how I remember it. Pours out a golden colour with a very slight hint of red. Big head that stays with you 'til the end. Big head that shrinks but never leaves. Fair bit of lacing. Not all that special really. Very thin in the mouth. Some malt, corn maybe. Nothing offensive - nothing different - nothing outragious. Want a pale ale? Have Moosehead Pale Ale.
