A superb porter, hearty & dark. This one is a staff favorite, made with pale, crystal, Munich, chocolate, and black malts. The darker malts give Coal its color and rich flavor. We use Target and Willamette hops to yield a very subtle hop flavor in this porter.

Poured from a bottle into a pint glass. It pourts a dark brown that is almost opaque when held to the light. A minimal tan head forms and reduces to a lacing around the edges. Carbonation is visible.
The aroma includes nice roasted malts and coffee with a caramel sweet and dark chocolate bitterness.
The taste is not what I was expecting from the aroma. Light in flavor with some coffee and bitter chocolate, but also an earthy hops component, particularly at the finish.
The mouthfeel was a bit weak as noted above. light/medium bodied. Reasonable carbonation. It goes down fairly clean and leaves a minimal bitter dryness at the finish.
This is an okay beer and worth enjoying but a little bit stiffer taste would have made it significantly better. Worth trying as I can see it being liked but not quite strong enough for my liking.

Draft: Poured a black color porter with a large brown foamy head with ok retention and some good lacing. Aroma of roasted malt notes with some dry black chocolate notes. Taste is also a mix of roasted malt notes with some dry chocolate notes with some faint coffee notes. Body is light with good carbonation. Standard porter that paired well with their BBQ offerings.

Have had on tap in Eddington,Me at Heritage on 9. Comes out a dark black with a nice whiteish head . Let it sit and it has shades of brown. It has a very nice chocolatey smell and tastes nice and bitter. You could pair this with most things and you wouldn't go wrong. Highly recommend this.

I'm trying a bottle of this beer that I bought back from vacation in Bangor/ Bar Harbor. It poured an opaque dark with thin off white head that is leaving some lace. The scent had roast notes. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink with earth and roast presence. The mouthfeel was lighter in body with good carbonation. Overall its a good beer.

From tap. Look had a nice khaki-tan head that slowly drifted down while the coloration was a dense dark coffee. Scent came across as a blend of coffee-espresso. Taste was campfire: a bit smoky and charcoal-y with some of the espresso coming out at the end. Pretty full bodied taste throughout. Interesting beer to try out.

On tap at Bar Harbor Beer Works in Bar Harbor, ME.
This one pours a nice deep dark black, with a small white foamy head, and lots of lacing.
This smells like dark chocolate, herbal bitterness, light smoke, coffee, and bread.
This is pretty solid and standard straightforward porter. It's done well, with a nice mix of flavors- smokey, roasty, bitter, and chocolatey- all stuff I want to see in porters. It's not doing anything new, but at least it's doing it well.
This is kind of light bodied, with a high level of drinkability, and a little bit of creaminess. I'd want a bit more full body/creaminess if possible.
This is a nice little porter, mostly well brewed and nice to drink.
