Santa’s Little Helper - a high gravity triple bock finished with a second pitching of ale yeast and cherries. Crisp lager notes blended with big cherry flavor.

On draught at the brewpub, served in a snifter, Cherry XXXMas Triple Bock is dark garnet with a small light sand head leaving very light, sticky lace.
Smell is sweet, sugar malt, some but not overwhelming cherry, some coconut.
Taste is similar, this is a really rich brew, sweet sugary malt, light cherry, a bit phenolic but smooth, with the ABV well hidden. Didn't wow me like I'd expected, although there were really no flaws, just lacking depth of character.
Mouthfeel is very viscous and sticky.
Drinkability is okay, it really took me a while, although it was fairly good. Just not something I'd be able to drink quickly, nor wanted another one of. Good desert beer, although 6 oz or so would have been plenty.

deep-dark ruby, almost black if not back lit. thin head with an okay lace, but not super clingy, perfect for this brew. there is a definite cherry presence in the nose, with a slight hop aroma nothing overpowering though. the taste is sweet and tangy, the cherry flavor is there but not in your face, no pun intended. the finish is abrupt, but a cherry tone lingers for a while. the mouth-feel is full, and well balanced. she can be down relatively quick for what it is, but get to know it, or possibly suffer a yeasty belly for a few hours.

I was thouroughly impressed with this beer. Hands down, best glacier beer ive had. Had it at the twelve days of barleywine.
2004 vintage, aged in oak Jim beam barrels
Color was a Dark ruby red with a medium sized head that dissipated to a thin film with a ring in about five minutes. The nose had hints of cherry and plum with candy sugar tones and some flemish red scents. you can smell the oak and a little bit of vanilla flavor. In the first taste the cherries had just the right amount of subtlety. Tastes of malt sugars and baked goods. Vanilla and oakiness are present with cherry tones in the finish. A very slight hop aftertaste, but the sugar lingers and leaves a residue on the lips. Incredibly smooth, vaults down the throat and coats the stomach. The abv doesnt even come to mind. The mouthfeel is incredibly belgian in character and creamily smooth. The drinkability is dangerously high. I didnt want to order the oaked big woody after this, i just wanted another one.
