Brown in colour with dark red and deep amber highlights. No head or lacing produced from the pour, but a loight beige head appears when I swirl it about. Nose has some chocolate and dark bread, caramel notes and very subtle smokiness. Feels more like an English Porter here than a rauchbier. Taste has more toasty dark bread and caramel, only a touch of chocolate but the smoked malts are more pronounced here, however not to the intensity of most world-class rauchbiers. Sweeter and toasty finish, medium body with a fairly high carbonation that required some taming. An OK rauchbier, but I think this would do better being advertised as a smokier porter of sorts.
