Appearance - Clear copper colour with an average size fizzy/frothy beige coloured head. There is a lot of carbonation and there is some decent lacing. The head lasted for around 5 minutes.

Smell - Malts, cloves, all spice, pumpkin

Taste & Mouth - There is an average amount of carbonation and I can taste malts, caramel, and pumpkin. There is also some all-spice, clove, and a hint of chocolate. It ends with a slightly sweet yet spicy aftertaste.

Overall - One of the better pumpkin beers that I've had. It had a great appearance and and a well balanced taste that kept it interesting. Mill street beers can be hit or miss, this one is a hit for me.

If the orange colour didn't tip you off, pumpkins are super high in vitamin A and antioxidant carotenoids, and so I assume are pumpkin ales which therefore makes them healthy. True or not, that's my excuse and I'm sticking with it. One thing's for sure: they look good. This one may not have any head, but it does sport pristine clarity and a Jack-O-Lantern flicker against the light.

The bouquet blends earthiness, spiciness and just a touch of roast like a pumpkin chai. Grainy, malty notes amalgamate with tea-like qualities and bits of ginger and cinnamon. The spiciness fades a bit, however, with hints of cocoa nib and vanilla bean peeking through. Buttery toffee, too. It's a truly wonderful smelling bouquet with a nice balance, I just wish it were a bit more aromatic.

The beer doesn't have an overpowering pumpkin flavour, which is just as well because I wouldn't care to drink one that did. Instead, it's the spices that one would normally taste in pumpkin pie - cinnamon, clove, nutmeg - as well as a brown sugar-like maltiness that tastes a little bit like pie crust. (The beer is actually based on the brewmaster's wife's pumpkin pie recipe.) It finds a balance between 'dessert' and 'baked vegetable side'.

The spiciness is better sensed on some sips than others, but its cinnamon-like quality is consistent (as opposed to perfume-y clove, scorching peppercorns or zesty ginger). There's also traces of creamy vanilla. For a pumpkin ale it has a somewhat rich caramel thickness. The fleshy, squash-like notes become more pronounced in the finish and, in the end, there is a pretty solid impression of pumpkin.

Nightmare on Mill Street actually drinks like a dream of a pumpkin ale - it has a satisfying maltiness, chai-like spiciness, and strikes an ideal balance between the two. There's even a bit of pumpkin candy sweetness. Ladle it over some vanilla ice cream and make the complete autumn treat. Here's hoping this haunts the brewpub and liquor store shelves for many Halloweens to come!

A - Red-Orange with thin, quickly dissipating head. Some streams of carbonation.

S - Pumpkin, cloves, nutmeg, cinnamon

T - A little bread, pumpkin, vanilla, nutmeg, cinnamon, cloves. Off-puting astringent aftertaste.

M - Good body, but could use a little more carbonation

O - Not bad. Probably wouldn't have again. Waiting for Howe Sound to come in stock. Typical Mill Street - good, not great.

355ml bottle, my thanks to the Edmonton rep for the sample bottle.

This beer pours a clear, dark copper amber hue, with one finger of thinly creamy pale beige head, which leaves but a low berm of ebbing lace around the glass as it quickly abates.

It smells of somewhat sugary, vegetal pumpkin, metallic cinnamon and nutmeg, vanilla pods simmering in cream, and mild gingerbread-esque malt. The taste is creamy, somewhat alcoholic (sans the heat) vanilla, nutmeg and edgy cinnamon spice, soft notes of mushy pumpkin flesh, some sturdy multigrained, bready malt, and very subtle earthy hops.

The bubbles are a tad peppy at first, but quickly settle to a mostly dull hum, the body medium-light in weight, and generally quite smooth. It finishes off-dry, the pumpkin meat-striped malt doing well to fend off the increasingly flinty spices.

An interesting pumpkin ale, as far as the vanilla component is concerned, though its interaction with the spices and hops comes off a bit skewed - that metallic edge would limit me sooner rather than later with this one. Good to try, however, if you can.

A: Orange/copper in colour. Pours a thin head that dissapears with none to low lacing on the glasse.

S: Low pumpkin smell with a nice balance of sweetness and spicy notes. Nutmeg and cinnamon are present

T: Pumpking and spices are well balanced with a low vanilla flavour. Some biscuit flavours with caramel.

M: med body, creamy and good carbonation.

O: One of my favorite pumpkin ales. This is a wheat beer which makes it very interesting.

Bottle to tulip glass.

A - Medium orange/brown colour; translucent. A small layer of cream coloured head formed and receded to a few scattered bubbles.

S - Pumpkin, cloves, all spice and bready malts.

T - Pumpkin, cloves and all spice dominate with some bready malts and a touch of cinnamon in the background.

M - Light body with a bit of chew. Moderate carbonation.

12oz bottle into tumbler. Bought 2 6pks of the Mill Street Harvest sampler. This is my last bottle of Nightmare.

A- Dark copper pour with a touch of brown in it. Thin cap of a off white head. Lacing is minimal.

S- Pumpkin forward, brown sugar, cinnamon and some nutmeg. Sweet malts resembling pie crust.

T- Quite spice forward, pumpkin coming in a close second. Very flavorful and balanced.

M- Light bodied, good carbonation.

A-pours a dark orange/ golden brown with a small off white head leaving minimal lace ring on the pint glass
S-pumpkin pie , wheat
T-pumpkin flavor wheat , with a creaminess of pure vanilla
MF-mild carbonation , medium body , after a couple a really dry finish
Ov-glad I tried it , not a great Pumpkin Ale , perhaps worth a go if your curious

The other treat in the autumn mixer.

A - Pours a nice amber colour, finger of head with some retention and sporadic lacing.

S - Scent is heavily spiced with nutmeg and sweet pumpkin dominating alongside a buttery bread malt nose.

T - I was a bit concerned that the spices would dominate, but they remained contained offering up a nice balance between pumpkin and nutmeg and vanilla ice cream. A sweet sugary graham flavour lingers alongside the buttery malts.

M - Medium bodied, smooth and wet with a sticky finish.

O - I really enjoyed this pumpkin ale. There's a unique creamy vanilla flavour that comes across on the finish. Although the spicing came across strong on the nose, it was nicely balanced and easily sessioned. A quality brew indeed.

Pours a hazy, warm ruby-amber colour with a moderate light beige head that leaves spotty lacing and gets retained as a thin collar.

Smells of grain, sweet malts, pumpkin and spices such as clove, cinnamon, nutmeg and vanilla. A bitter chocolate-coffee aroma becomes apparent after warming.

Spices are at the forefront of the taste and create a crisp bite, with a sweet pumpkin flavour behind that and an earthy and grainy backing. The vanilla comes through on the tongue and coupled with the spice blend reminds me somewhat of Dr. Pepper. Surprising mild sourness in the finish before going dry.

Fairly thin, but wheat character and fine carbonation give it a nice, lively body. Vanilla, pumpkin and spice all remain prevalent in the aftertaste, along with a mild syrupy feeling.

Very pleasant take on the style. Nicely balanced and easy going. Pairs well with roast beef, potatoes, fresh breads, vanilla ice cream.

Bright pale copper colour with a light ring of off white head and only a touch of lace. Smell is quite spicy, cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla, some raw pumpkin flesh with some doughy malt charachter as well. Taste is also spicy like the nose suggests, a little more vanilla present in taste as well, cinnamon, pumpkin especially in the finish with a light bitterness throughout. Light-medium carbonation, medium body and a fairly solid feel. This is a fairly easy drinking pumpkin beer, pretty straight forward but something that is worth a revisit.

355ml bottle poured into pint glass 21/9/12

A a light light brownish copper with lots of big bubbles but just a short lived cap of foam that leaves a partial ring of lace

S Cinnamon, allspice, nutmeg, pumpkin and warm vanilla cream, has the solid pumpkin beer nose but with a milky creamy twist and burnt crust notes

T the spices are stronger and take away from the nice balance with the creamy vanilla and overcooked bread, has a little cola as it warms

M creamy at first but the bubbles keep coming and turn it to foam, it then quickly goes back to liquid and its a little thin

O smell was almost awesome and the taste was getting there so yet again .25 increments would be useful. I may have been a little hard on this one so slightly higher overall

my first Pumpkin of the year and perhaps I'm just not in the mood yet, not bad for the style I might get back in the groove after Thanksgiving

Appearance: It has a nice orange/amber color to it. It has a nice off-white head that dies down moderately and leaves almost no lacing.

Smell: The aromas definitly give out hints of pumpkin, vanilla, cinnamon, cloves and wheat malts.

Taste: Like the aromas, it has some pumpkin, vanilla, light cinnamon, some spices and some wheat.

Mouthfeel: It has a low carbonation with a nice overall balance and feel.

Drinkability: It's a very smooth drinkable beer accompanied with decent flavors and aromas. Not the most flavorful pumpkin ale but still good.

Copper,off-white head. No lacings.

Very light pumpkin on the nose. Slight sweetness and generic spice.

Light caramel malt up front. Actually pretty nice pumpkin flavor through the middle. Light spice, I mostly get cinnamon, maybe vanilla, not really strong enough to tell.

Body is nice enough, maybe a touch light, but not bad.

Surprisingly tasty. One of the more drinkable pumpkin ales I've had.
